  1. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) One of my buddies cousins has been named Great Fall's opening day starter. We were trying to go down to AZ in ST to watch him play. He's got a crazy long polish name that I can never remember. Adam Panayatovich?
  2. Why not keep Melky in left, move Eaton to center and start Coats in right? Then we don't have to deal with Shuck in center or Avi in the field at all.
  3. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) L. Garcia...another "sterling" example of the "quality" in the Sox minor league system. Another stiff. Mark I'd much rather see what Coats can do, but Leury is a threat on the basepaths and provides positional versatility so I can see going that route.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) I'd demote Avi and Sands and bring up Sanchez and Coats to replace them. Yes, this. Please.
  5. I was watching the gamecast, did he almost hit a dinger?
  6. False hope. Too little, too late. Prove me wrong, Melky.
  7. Stop, it's pop. My family in Florida calls it soda. Just stop saying otherwise.
  8. No way Papa John's and Little Caesar's are identical. Neither are great, but I think LC is pretty good, all things considered. Papa John's is just gross, and not at all similar to LC. More pricey and different and worse taste. Just my opinion.
  9. Papa John's is terrible. Absolutely nasty. If I want cheap pizza that tastes pretty good, I'll go with Little Caesar's or Dominos. Beggars is very good, but as said, pricey.
  10. QUOTE (Jim Busby @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) On the DSL Roster there is a 32 year Left Hand Outfielder name Anderson Guzman. I taught there was a age Limit to play in the DSL League. Is he our Roy Hobbs from the Movie the Natural who is sitting on the Bench waiting for our Manager Robin Ventura to let him Bat. Is that one of many reasons why Adam LaRoche left the Team???? Check it out yourself about his age. Future Roy Hobbs sitting at the Dominican Republic White Sox roster I noticed that a few months back but never said anything about it. I assume it's a typo/error.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 18m18 minutes ago I asked RV about using Dioner Navarro in DH mix. Not as wild as I thought. It's an option, Ventura said, because Lawrie, Saladino can catch. Robin also thinks Abreu can play 3B.
  12. I'm glad he's doing well, but I can't take much from 30 spring training at bats when he's coming off two full years of failure. According to the scout in the article, he's apparently made mechanical changes so hopefully he's able to sustain a high-level of play, but I'd need at least a quarter of a season in AAA to believe he can contribute at the ML level.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Sanchez just doesn't have the ability at multiple positions that Saladino does, plus he has no real power. I could see him being a guy like Juan Pierre that hits an empty .280 to .300 on a regular basis, but not much else. Saladino is going to give you a decent amount of pop, plus 65/70 defense at 3 positions. I think I'd prefer to have Saladino start at SS and have Sanchez as the utility guy since his arm appears good enough for SS/3B based off what I've seen from him this spring. I don't think Rollins deserves to start at SS over Saladino, and at age 37 and having played the entirety of his ML career at SS, I doubt he would be able to provide much positional versatility. However, I think Rollins is a lock for the SS position so I guess it doesn't matter.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) I think when you look at May versus Coats, it's partially a question of time. If the need is during 2016, I'd go Coats - he is just more complete and more ready right now. Longer term, I think they see May having a higher ceiling (though I am not 100% sure I agree). This all also depends on how they perform in the minors this year. I personally really like Coats as a prospect, as he appears to be solid at everything. His OBP in the minors is on the lower side and he can probably only play CF in a pinch, but he really doesn't seem to have any glaring weaknesses that will make or break his chance at being a major leaguer.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) FWIW. I'm expecting to see May and Anderson to start the '17 season. I think that people are holding back to see what those two can do at Charlotte this year. One thing I'm curious about is the arm of May. Is it strong enough for CF? I've seen mixed reviews on his arm. I've kind of looked at May as a future LF due to his below average arm strength but his defense is well suited for CF. I like both May and Jason Coats, and both look ready to see the majors at some point this year. I wonder which OF would get the call first should the need arise.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) For me, Johnson is bitter/sweet. Bitter because he seems to have reverted ( for now) back to 2014, sweet because the FO was smart in not assuming Johnson would be fine and came up with some SP depth. Really curious about Turner. He makes sense as the pen's long man but it seems the Sox see something in him as a potential starter so Charlotte would make sense. But will they pay him 1.5M to play AAA ball? Guessing Turner becomes the long arm of the pen. I'm really concerned about the rotation. Outside of Sale, Quintana and Rodon, Danks, Latos, Turner, Johnson, etc. are all huge question marks.
  17. Sanchez's arm looked more than adequate at 3B yesterday, so it's a bit of a disappointment to see that he's not really being given a fair shake at the SS position.
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) Good points. I'm going to look around and see if I can find anything on his repertoire. Second post in this thread says he has a low-mid 90s FB as well as a CB, SL and CH, but I assume you mean more in depth detail on his repertoire.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 05:02 PM) Matt Lane, Andrew Mitchell, Alexander Simon, John Ziznewski all released Former Sox prospect Juan Silverio just signed to play in Veracruz too Kind of surprised about Mitchell, but then I realized he didn't pitch last year. He was injured, I presume?
  20. With LaRoche out of the picture, does Davidson have a legit shot at making the roster after stinking it up in AAA the past two seasons?
  21. They need to start/play Sanchez at SS more, because he's clearly hitting the best out of the candidates so far (small sample size, but still).
  22. If we're not going to sign another OF, how about Jason Coats eventually taking over in RF? I think there's a decent chance he can be a solid starter at the MLB level, which would be a vast improvement over Avi. He could probably use another half-season in AAA, but he appears to be mostly MLB-ready. Good contact, good power, I believe he's a good defender at the corners and can play center in a pinch, though he's on the older side for a prospect.
  23. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) How is Brantley's D as a catcher? Not good, from what I've heard.
