  1. Because the nice part about using a Hall of Famer and a pair of really valuable assets to kickstart your rebuild is you can acquire 3 years worth of prospects in 8 months. The Sox don't need to suck for a half decade to build a talent pipeline, they already have it.
  2. It would be really stupid to have a player of Moncada's potential just wasting away in pre-arb for a team trying to lose. Finish this season as poorly as possible, I can get behind that, but winning at the major league level becomes a priority again the day this travesty of a season ends. I'm not saying trade everyone for ML players, or even that they should trade any of their prospects at all, but they should make an effort. Gillaspie, Delmonico, Cordell, Polo, Clarkin, Guerrero all have opportunities to make an impact as soon as Opening Day, and they have so much payroll flexibility that they can be active in free agency without hamstringing their future. If they really decide to tank 2018 too my opinion of this rebuild will crater.
  3. Look around the AL central, aside from Cleveland who's better? .500 baseball is not insurmountable. You don't think that roster can match what the Twins have done so far this year?
  4. Abreu, Avi, Moncada, Davidson...the Sox have plenty of power. They have like 10 pitchers who are on a clear path to major league success, if they cannot build a bullpen out of that I'll be shocked.
  5. If they are the worst team in baseball with Giolito, Lopez, Rodon, Kopech, Moncada and Abreu (not to mention all the close to the majors guys they've acquired in the past month) something is seriously wrong. This is not like the Cubs or Astros, the Sox system is already built. They will add a blue chip guy again next June and after that it's over, there will be no more stockpiling of talent. Next year is a year they should make effort to win in. No use trying to lose while they have cheap years from Abreu and Avi to burn and service clocks ticking on 3 of their 7 or so best prospects.
  6. Cf Engel/Leury 2b Moncada Dh Abreu Rf Avi 3b Davidson/Delmonico 1b Gillaspie C Narvaez/Smith Lf Cordell/Polo Ss Anderson Utility- Yolmer I see a ton of potential in that lineup. And as guys fail there will be ample reinforcements from the minors coming up to take their place. A couple breaks go the Sox way and it'll be more than enough to capitalize on good performances from Rodon/Giolito/Lopez/Kopech (midseason).
  7. There is a lot of opportunity on the 2018 White Sox. Even the likes of Cordell, Delmonico, Polo and Gillaspie are of a higher quality than what the Sox have attempted to trot out there as internal options at positions of need.
  8. Rodon/Lopez/Giolito could realize enough of their talent to carry the team. Kopech is going to force his way onto the ML roster next year too. They've shown an adeptness at building bullpen pieces from seemingly nothing, though closer might be an issue. On the offensive side all it would take is holding on to Abreu, a bounce back from Anderson and Moncada living up to at least some of the hype for them to be good enough to ride those arms.
  9. Sox could easily be a .500 team in 2018. I also don't see the point in wasting Moncada, Lopez, and Giolito's service time just so they can save Jimenez's.
  10. Right now. Him and Lopez should be taking their lumps and looking to finish this season with some sustained success against ML competition.
  11. He's massacring the same high A pitching that has confounded other legit hitting prospects. Easy power to all fields with a K-rate that would be outstanding for a player of his profile 3 years older at that level. I say he gets up to AA this year, crushes his way to AAA to start next season then grabs an OF spot for (what I think will be) surprisingly competitive 2018 MLB squad. The Cubs thought his bat was MLB ready this spring.
  12. He should be set up for a midseason 2018 MLB debut, he's about ready now but there's no point starting his clock this early.
  13. Giolito cruising along.
  14. Gives them another guy to play in the outfield before the big time prospects start beating down the door. He has some versatility, which never hurts.
  15. I don't think you have to worry much about this team winning games.
  16. He needs to be moved up now.
  17. Because they are bad. I don't know why they are exposing Moncada to their illness.
  18. This team may be incapable of winning major league games.
  19. I also think it's totally possible this injury is much more severe than the Sox are letting on.
  20. Losing somebody close to you is one thing. I get that, grief sucks. But ballplayers get traded, this is not breaking news to anyone. I doubt that's a big issue.
  21. He should be acclimating to playing and living in the USA and leaving him in the DR stunts his development. Would've rather they just have him a bigger bonus.
  22. Also, if he's gonna be so bad he might as well be doing this year. Tanking is ugly boys.
  23. If they were trying to win the decision to demote him would be easy, but seeing as they are actively losing games it's probably best to not completely shred what's left of his confidence by sending him down. Life is just better at the ML level. Nice hotels, chartered flights, better food and there's just the prestige of being a major leaguer. I don't think sending him to AAA will improve anything mentally for him.
