Lots of aggressive promotions to close the year. This is a real surprise to me.

But really who cares? What free agent did the Bears miss out on this year that you really think is going to hurt long-term? Some decent players available but overall a kinda weak class. Wiser to hold the cap space for extensions or in waiting for a real cant-miss player at a position of serious need. When you really think about it a $15m spin at the QB roulette wheel isn't so bad. Besides, the organizational obsession with finding a QB this offseason cannot be appreciated á la carte. It is the totality of the decisions made that make the difference, if the Bears were less motivated to fix the QB position its possible they also aren't willing to move up with San Francisco. That would probably have meant the Browns trading up to grab Trubisky. btw- Where are all the 'HE GAVE UP TOO MUCH/WORST TRADE EVER' people at? Still worried about losing out on a few miserable Deon Bush's to get this guy? Its still early, Trubisky could still be really bad.

They did not announce it. They wanted it to be as quiet as possible.

Well the chief concern now from the media who's coverage ESPN was specifically trying to avoid is that this kind of nonsense makes political correctness look bad, and now ESPN is to blame for that. The issue here is a media that wants to be treated like the fourth estate with cringe worthy taglines like "Democracy dies in darkness", but in practice just patrols the depths for petty mistakes to make mountainous issues out of. And now that every organization with a brand has caught up to this and is trying to stay ahead of it, the media is now acting like "aww that? Oh come on we'd NEVER say anything about Robert Lee doing a UVA game" when it is almost certain they would.
-
You really can't imagine someone caring? That's a lie. This was no doubt going to be seized on as an opportunity to laugh at how clueless ESPN is.
-
There is absolutely no doubt Deadspin would've lampooned ESPN for putting Robert Lee on a UVA game. That's the real issue to me, ESPN did this because they (like every other business in this country with a public image to protect) are extorted constantly by a media obsessed with micro aggressions. Now they are officially in damned-if-do-damned-if-yoi-dont territory, just like everyone else.

Near 100%. If he has a nice ST he'll probably break camp in AAA
-
He'll open next season at Birmingham. I think he was at Kanny a bit too long, but 60 or so A+ innings seems just about right

Bears actually seem to have a pretty good OL. Maybe their strongest unit.

Can Rodon become a quality mlb starter?
BaconOnAStick replied to Dominikk85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think there is a way to extend even with Boras. I just don't think they'll be able to get the kind of crazy bargain deal, something more along the lines of what Rodon would get if he hit the open market right now. I don't know what that deal would look like though. -
It's hard to say where he'll land on the lists because those have as much to do with everyone else as they have to do with Hansen, and I really can't keep up with the prospect world's erratic stock market that well. I mean, I know Eloy is going to be top 5. I know Kopech is the best or second best (honestly, I don't see who could be considered better though) arm. But after that super high group it gets muddy. Hansen may wind up being even more hyped than we are anticipating. When you start looking for flaws you come up pretty empty, I don't know what more e could be showing.

With the graduations of Giolito, Moncada, Lopez and of course Fulmer (lol jk) the only two prospects who are definitively higher than him are Jimenez and Kopech. His ETA is moving up too, if he keeps his control in AA there's really not a whole lot left for him to prove. He's a dark horse midseason call up next year, he's going to finish this season with about 130 IP so he's not far from where he needs to be there.

Being annoying on purpose...duh
-
Yea you know just a little assault and battery, not that that's illegal or anything.
-
So the punishment for "being annoying" is now a mob beatdown! Great!

You could make the argument for Kopech, but other than that I'd rather have Tatis Jr. than the lot (aside from Eloy, obviously). We'd kill for Robert to be doing what Tatis Jr. is right now, and Tatis Jr. is a full year younger. -

Sox traded one of the five best prospects in baseball for James Shields only a couple months before rebuilding. Lmao. -
It's clear they want to avoid a controversy. Only the Bears would sandbag a #2 overall pick for a free agent that only has one year of cap hits. If I were Pace I would be trying to get Fox out.

If he doesn't well in this late season stint in Charlotte and has a nice spring there's no real reason to keep him in Charlotte for more than 30 or so innings.

There are memorials for the victims of the bombings of Hamburg I do believe. Balbo was also alive for about two weeks of WW2 and was long dead by the time the war really came to North Africa.
-
My only fear is that he gets too worked up about it and overthrows. That plus the huge workload increase could spell injury.
-
I won't make a big deal out of it if he struggles, but if he can continue his dominance it's an encouraging step towards big contributions in the near term.
-
Well if he thinks a guy who rebelled against the Nazi's from within Italy in the late-30's is irredeemable I can only imagine how he feels about my relatives who were drafted into the Wehrmacht.

I'm not Italian.
