  1. Unmitigated disaster. It would mean Moncada, Jimenez, Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Anderson and Rodon mostly failed while "surprise" guys like Leury, Delmonico and Davidson regressed badly. You don't get to watch a bunch of players play well but the team still loses. That's not how baseball works, if the young players play well the team will win games. If the young players are trash they will go as far as Abreu/Avi and whatever pitching reclamation projects can take them, which as we're learning now is only the 3rd or 4th worst team in baseball.
  2. So that means Collins starts 2018 in Charlotte probably.
  3. Are you saying that it is just as certain that this hurricane is a direct result of global warming as it was that the sun and moon would align? Ludicrous comparison. Idiotic. The worst hurricane in American history hit Galveston and Houston over one hundred years ago. This is not a freak occurrence for the Texas coast. To say man caused this is certainly not disprovable, but at the same time anyone saying they know for a fact this storm wouldn't have happened if it weren't for air pollution is straight up lying.
  4. Never mind that he gives them a much better chance to win games than Covey. If he earns it they should let him up, this isn't Rodon. There is no Boras lurking. If he performs the Sox should be very aggressive in extending him.
  5. Most Parisians speak or at least understand English. Same goes for the toursity parts of PACA. The rest? Forget about it. Even in Normandy, where the hordes of anglophone tourists provide livings to many, it can be hard to find solid English-speakers. You'll have some luck with the younger generation in Aix, Clermont, Tours...cities with large pan-European universities, but even that is fleeting. That's fine really. Just keep your volume down (they can't understand you anyways so why be loud) as that is a pretty big custom with them.
  6. I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to convey here. You aren't speaking (??? I cant hear you) literally? Well then what the hell are you doing? I think you should take a break. Just safely slide away and let this babble fade into the abyss where nobody can find it. I'm keeping the quote though, that's an all timer.
  7. I think service time is a much smaller concern in pitchers than it is hitters. Boras clients notwithstanding, pitchers seem very keen on locking in extensions once they are able. If Kopech breaks camp with the big league club and is lights out for his first two full seasons it is very likely he will lock-in a below-market extension (that would still make him set for life) rather than risk injury for four more seasons waiting on a massive payday. The Sox probably already have some idea of Kopech's camps willingness to embark on such an extension, and if they feel its a strong possibility there is really no reason for Kopech to waste his talents in Charlotte.
  8. If you're not starting to dream of a 20 year old Manny Ramirez you just aren't being a fan. The guy is demolishing in a league that is terrible for hitters.
  9. French people are great, but you have to try. And don't be loud. Also I'd rather go to Lyon than Paris each and every time.
  10. I'm just asking questions, which from my understanding is exactly what science is all about.
  11. Well how do we know it's a once in 500 year storm? From what I understand the Comanche did not keep detailed weather records. I think some of these ideas need to be reevaluated, and the "once in x amount of years" weather event label perhaps doesn't fit.
  12. I'm also not sure climate change directly results in cataclysmic storms except in bad movies. Blaming this storm on climate change feels like the inverse of the throngs who declare the entire idea of global warming bunk because of a 60 degree day in February. Edit- I screwed that up. I meant a 45 degree day in July. Whatever...
  13. Whatever, I'm not trying to start a climate change debate. Im just saying she mockingly used "God's wrath" to make a point about climate change. In no way did she blame it on the lesbian mayor. If you read that comment and honestly believe she meant to blame it on the mayor being gay you are actually illiterate or just lack the reading comprehension of a 2nd grader.
  14. Very excited to see those position guys compete in the AFL. Shocked no Jimenez, that almost seemed certain.
  15. I'm on record predicting Moustakas. But there are lateral moves to be made, I'm not sure they really need Avi around in the short term or long term. Also, a lot of mid range free agents are available, like the Sox could easily have Lance Lynn next year fulfilling the role Derek Holland has this season. That's a big improvement, and one that will cost more money but hardly break the bank or be an albatross.
  16. I've been telling you guys, the org is not comfortable with next year being a trainwreck at the major league level. They want to win in 2018, not so bad that theyll sell out and go ALL IN, but the 2019 draft is not a focus point. Expect moves this offseason to help the 2018 squad.
  17. Wrong thread. I will add that Jimenez was brought up ok precisely the right date to get the Sox an extra AFL spot.
  18. She didn't blame it on a lesbian mayor. She was just saying climate change isn't to blame for an Atlantic hurricane that is only remarkable for the densely populated area it hit. You gotta be really sensitive to think she's blaming it on the mayor.
  19. Kopech doing quite well with this promotion.
  20. But they've already taken the cap hit. What is the point of keeping him around if all he'll do is sulk and complain? Especially if it gets so bad that Glennon is no longer even the second string QB. If coaches feel that Shaw is better than Glennon they'd better dump Glennon and keep Shaw, I'd hate to see the Bears keep a worse player because they feel obligated to keep him on the roster to avoid looking bad. There is really not a whole lot left to like about Glennon. It was all projection anyways.
  21. It's a one year deal, and the guy seems to be a bit on the whiny side. Ideally they'll do him like the Seahawks did Flynn and they just retain Glennon as a backup option. But if Connor Shaw lights it up in the fourth preseason game and they like Sanchez as a backup/mentor, all the while Glennon continued to be terrible in the games and practice while developing a negative attitude, would rather the Bears eat the money. And no way it would be one of the dumbest moves in sports history. Absolutely preposterous.
  22. Yea their minds appear to be changing. If Trubisky outplays Glennon again on Sunday they'll start Mitch week one. No use wasting time, get him out there. I wonder if they'll just cut Glennon to escape the controversy and tension (not to mention media surliness), Trubisky seems to be really assuming an alpha role in the locker room. Just accept the money as a sunk cost and move on. Wouldn't be shocked.
