  1. Only some kind of miracle could change it. Back in the Go Go years, the Sox were more popular and I think the Sox were more popular in the first 2 decades of the 20th century leading the Majors in attendance more than a few times while winning 2 World Series but of course the franchise took a beating after the Black Sox scandal. When Reinsdorf took over in 1981 the metro area was just about equally divided and the Sox were the first Chicago team to draw 2 million in 1983 and were the darlings of the area. I have always thought that things really started to change when the Cubs came out of nowhere and won the 1984 division while the Sox floundered that year. The Tribune buying the Cubs and Harry Caray moving to the Northside had huge implications along with WGN becoming a Superstation. Meanwhile with one blunder after another by Reinsdorf has seen the fan base shrink and shrink and I have no idea what the last 3 years are doing to it.
  2. Watching the Rays and the announcers are talking about how strong the American League Central is except for the White Sox and who ever beats us the most will wind up winning the Central with the other 2 taking the WC, just so embarrassing. I really thought we were turning the corner but the last 3 games have been brutal. It’s time to cut bait with Robert and Vaughn, they’re suppose to be the strength of the lineup and are just plain garbage especially AV because at least Robert is still playing a great center field.
  3. My patience is running out with Vaughn, I thought maybe this was the year he puts it altogether and becomes the hitter I thought he would be when he was drafted, doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Realistically, what could we get for him?
  4. Why? It’s not even Sunday.
  5. Yep, lost game 4 of the KC sweep right after he was proclaimed the new Pope but we will take a .667 clip everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
  6. At this point we probably wouldn’t get that much for him, the ideal situation would be that Robert gets out of his funk and becomes the hitter we expected him to be and spends the rest of his career with the Sox. He is still a one of the best centerfielders in MLB and steals bases.
  7. Right now they don’t stink and when Benintendi and Tauchman return there will be some more pop in the lineup. The kids can play.
  8. White Sox team ERA is now 3.96, right at league average. Not sure if it’s due to Katz or these guys are really good, especially the starters.
  9. I say 65-97. If the starting pitching continues the way it has lately, maybe 70-92
  10. I figured you made a typo. As far as Santo, though I felt sorry for what he went through losing his legs, what ever Skowron called him I would agree 100%, Skowron was a class act, can’t say the same about Santo, he was a complete asshat.
  11. Let’s see what happens the rest of this year, if he makes it to AAA next year he would need a full season there.
  12. There definitely are some positive signs, starting pitching except for that blowout in KS last week has been outstanding, team ERA is at 4.01, just about at the league average. There still is work to be done with the offense, hopefully Benintendi returns soon and Robert and Vaughn start producing on a consistent basis, if that happens this team could get to 70 wins which would be amazing after what we saw last year.
  13. .310 winning percentage = 50-112
  14. Hooray for Buck Weaver, of all of them he was wronged the most. Never took a dime and played his guts out in the 1919 World Series but I don’t think he is worthy of Hall of Fame induction.
  15. 2 things: So far the kid has been dynamite. Don’t rush him.
  16. Rojas hurting his chances today for a Gold Glove.
  17. Baldwin also with a swing way out of the zone, what the hell is the matter with these guys. So you can’t hit but a least have some idea of the strike zone. Do these guys ever check the videos?
  18. Sosa with no plate discipline, a swing up by his eyes.
  19. Sosa gets the OK on a 3-0 count, swings at ball 4 and pops it up. Our hitters are not only bad, they’re dumb too.
