AROUND THE HORN
When the Sox start filling the park every night, then it will be a Sox town. After Friday, everybody was in panic mode. Two wins don't change Chicago into a Sox town -- especially if the Sox don't win two more games in Wrigley next weekend. It's going to take a lot of hard work by Reinsdorf, Williams and others to turn Chicago back into a Sox town, which it was 20 years ago.

holy cow
Andruw Jones is too cool for school. He should play for the Indians and wear his hat Sabathia-style with his attitude Leave him in Atlanta. his contract will quickly become an albatross for us. And what's wrong with the way Rowand is playing center field, for much less money. fuhgetabout Andruw "All Hype" Jones.

somebody save the tape of Hyster-iotti. He'll be scratching Dusty's back any minute now.

Since some of us aren't familiar with Ben Davis
Seattle has played like crap this year and maybe they made Davis one of the whipping boys. Especially so with his manager being a former catcher -- and his manager being under the gun with the Piniella comparisons. Hopefully Sandy can mentor him -- and hopefully Davis will listen. He's at the make or break point in his career -- and he couldn't ask for a better opportunity. As long as he's solid behind the plate (like Mo) anything with the stick will be a plus.

Enjoy this while we can
Sox fans have worried about next year since 1917. let's win something this year -- and not worry a bit about next year. We paid a solid price for Garcia, but if he delivers it will be worth the price.

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
I like Freddy, but as usual, Kenny overpaid. Ben Davis is GARBAGE. He was hitting under .100 when Seatlle sent him to AAA and he's hitting under .250 at Tacome with NO power. I don't know if he is a good catcher, but Burke is better at this point. If we make the playoffs because of improved pitching, the trade will be OK. But in the long run, we're going to regret this one if we don't resign Garcia. Wonder how much money we got. Anybody know?

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
i hate to lose to Miguel Olivo but we needed the arm. up to Kenny to find another catcher 'cause I'm not sure Jamie Burke is the answer. Miguel shuts down the running game.

Ozzie knows from the NL you got to run on Maddux
-
Rubber time
that's a very, very wide home plate
-
Rubber time
that was a strange hit. Rowand waited to run. Maddux lobbed the ball weird
-
Rubber time
if they're giving Maddux that 35-inch home plate., we got problems

Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
i'm not for including Marte at all. Shingo is good -- but I want to see him succeed the second time around against most of these teams. Marte is fairly cheap and we have him for a few more years. He can close and he can pitch multiple innings. He is too valuable to trade.

Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
sez the Maggs trade talk to the Braves was not denied by Kenny Kool during a radio sement. Sez the Sox have a scout in Baltimore to scout the Braves -- specifically Ortiz and Andruw Jones. Says Juan Cruz could also be part of the deal. My sense is KW has watched his team average nearly 6 runs per game without Maggio, but lose. That tells him they can sacrifice the bat because pitching is what they need. Guess they would play Jones in center, A Row in right and move Ortiz right into the rotation. I just wonder if the Braves would do this without any promise Maggs will sign with them. Just my thoughts.

Jim Parque
I'll say this about Parque. The sox rushed him to the big leagues. He threw a s*** pot of innings. Never threw that hard. Blew out his arm. tried to pitch through it. And then he was done. Thanks again for his help in 2000

Which outfielder do you want?
Carl Crawford? As Tampa closes in on the BoSox C-squared ain't goin nowhere. Glad we don't play tampa any more this season.

Twins Losing...
need one more from the Brew Crew

Jim Parque
Parque helped get us to the playoffs in 2000. All the best to him, Sirotka, Baldwin and Eldred, four guys who blew their arms out for that team.

Sox will steal a game they've no business winning
impossible to overestimate how much a dependable closer means to a team. impossible. Thank goodness gracious we pulled the plug on Koch and gave the job to Shingo. We need one more good arm to get the ship sailing in the right direction again.
