  1. Every year i try to map out who is pitching when and buy tickets accordingly, then it rains in april and i end up seeing the number five pitcher when i go to a game.
  2. Does this make us going after another player with a qualifying offer seem more realistic. I dont mind losing a third for maybe melky. Also if the sox do happen to get a player who recieved a qualifying offer does the other team get a sandwich pick also or does it fall lower then.
  3. I have no problem making that trade for shark. Not as in love with semien as some people are here and the other two are not top prospects for us. I think some people think are farm is better than it really is.
  4. Shocked and very happy, was busy trying to keep up with the shark trade thread and suprise.
  5. With sales track record and how long he is under contract as well as the price you would have to basically completely drain a teams minor league prospects. The only team i would actually consider trading him to is the cubs and stealing all of their prospects. However with the cubs rebuilding they wouldnt offer we would demand a lot of big names bryant being one of them plus other prospects. I am always open to trading players but for some i would only do it if we are basically robbing the other team.
  6. I do wonder why we are talking about semien. The only thing i liked about him was his name before i found out i was saying it wrong
  7. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Why is everyone laying awake at night thinking of ways to prevent Semien from being the everyday SS? Are people staying awake at night thinking semien is actually a starting shortstop
  8. Considering Q's contract we need to get a lot more back i feel
  9. I like the signing, glad to see they are addressing needs. Sounds like they have more things planned.
  10. I would be interested in kemp. Especially if we get them to eat some of the contract
  11. I see the white sox signing one of the top free agents, I think they have the money to spend also. I wonder if they will consult with abreu about the cuban outfielder. I really would like to get russel martin, we havent had a great catcher in an extremely long time. If they sign martinez to DH while he will be expensive you will be hurting a divisional opponent quite a bit. I think they will go after one of the three of these players. If they feel they can sign one they might try to pick up mccarthy to pitch. If not they may try to take a run at lester or shields. Maybe its wishful thinking though.
  12. Currently it looks like the dbacks won this trade but only time will tell. Reed wasnt going to be our closer of the future and we were getting a very good prospect back. If offered a similar trade this year i would roll the dice on that also. I think the reason some people get upset about this trade is because of how terrible our bullpen was, then if you go and look at the save column for reed your obviously going to get more upset.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 08:08 AM) It's amazing the smear campaigns you see upon players leaving an organization. The Sox used to be notorious for doing that type of thing, but they've gotten much better about it in recent years. I always wondered why teams would do that sometimes when a player left. My old man would say that teams did it in case a player they didnt resign or they traded ended up playing very well for their new team, that way it would look more like he had to go. Also if the trade worked out well for the team they looked even better. Personally i always try to see it as i only worry about the players on the team, but then again i dont play for the sox or manage them. I only watch them on tv and occasionally pretend how i would run the team and easily win the world series yearly.
  14. Maybe Eaton needed a change of scenery, maybe someone talked to him once he was traded, or maybe his ego was bruised by being traded and he is going to do everything possible to make them realize they shouldnt have traded him. I havent looked at his tapes from when he was with them, but when teammates make comments like that you do take them with a grain of salt, but there is at least a little truth behind it. Luckily for us he seems to be fitting in well here and i havent seen him take a play off at all.
  15. It seems like a lot of boston fans think baseball revolves around them, i have a few friends who are red sox fans and some of the trade ideas they throw out there are unreal. While its nice to dream about trades and such when i do i try to make it realistic, when they do you think they do the trade on a video game and think it could happen in real life.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) The flip side is that guys often play better at home regardless of where it is, so there's several separate effects we have to untangle. Carlos Gonzalez does not seem likely to be a .160 hitter if he's put in the AL, do you agree? I would say he's probably better than a .160 hitter with any team. He may not put up MVP caliber numbers outside of Coors, but there's still some upside there. The question is...how would he actually play out of that park. I'll agree it's a concern there but it's not "he's a .160 hitter outside of Colorado" dramatic, or at least I'd be stunned if it was. The problem is he is being paid mvp type money
  17. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) The A's are in a serious race for a wild card spot and it would be a shame for Adam Dunn to miss out on the postseason. He accommodated the trade for us when he didn't have to do so and its time for us to repay the favor. I know Sale is pitching so it may be a little tough, but load the lineup with scrubs and go to the bullpen early. Help make sure the donkey plays in October (and if we can eliminate Detroit in the process, its even better) That sounds like a great idea, i mean adam did so much for us here we should try to help him make it to the playoffs. The only thing i can think he did good for us was help us loss a lot last year so we could get rodon. You dont have to worry about the kitty kats. They beat themselves every year in the playoffs.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Rodon/Boras held out for cash, so they'll just have to wait until next year to come to the bigs. Yeah but its gonna cost them now, i still think if he signed right away and started pitching right away he would be called up, the extra money they waited for is going to cost them now.
  19. I bet if rodon signed as quickly as sale he would have been brought up but since it took long and they had to go overslot it will cost rodon a few million later.
  20. thats what i get for using espn. but why would they have different scores.
  21. ok i dont know a lot about war but why is josh donaldson leading the league in it. offensively his numbers are not outstanding.
  22. dunn has to have some value for another team. Would we get anything in return if we cover all his money, the way things are looking now we will be paying all his money anyway, might as well get something for it.
  23. dunn with a homerun to take the lead, havent given sale this many runs in a while it seems.
  24. could be a long day for the white sox, how has sale looked his last few starts, one of my friends thinks he maybe hurt, but he is also my same friend who thought alexie ramirez was on steriods.
  25. well at least he played more before coming out i guess, hopefully its nothing major.
