why is vicedo at first now, anything happen to jose.

Right now the white sox have easily the best two on the list, with sale being a top pitcher in the league and abreu being a beast. After that the cubs have more talent on paper. While they may have a few soon to be all stars on the list, the lack of pitching really does hurt them a little. If the cubs didnt finish strong last year they would have had the third pick and if they got rodon i would easily give it to them, however that didn't happen. I really want to say its almost a tie, however since i know i am biased towards the white sox, i have to give the cubs a slight edge.

Would you still be a Sox fan if they moved?
venom4789 replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I love baseball, its easily my favorite sport but if my team moved on me they would no longer be my team. Of course if i were to move and the white sox stay in chicago they would still be my team. -
QUOTE (Real @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Smh at this article http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/jose-abreu-th...514931?mobile=y what's the point of writing this Axe to grind? pretty stupid article, it seems like the writer thinks you get more runs off a further homerun

Rodon plays in a few games towards the end of the year. Abreu continues getting better. Wins rookie of the year and is second for mvp. Most people will say he didnt get tbe mvp cause we didnt make the playoffs. Think we get a great offer and trade alexie towards the deadline. Also someone makes a move for dunn.

I personally hate keith law. I hope no one is wasting their money on insider.
-
If the sox decide to spend some cash and make a run at it next year i wouldnt mind seeing them grab either nelson cruz or victor martinez as our dh. I wouldnt want to give up a first round pick. I think replacing dunns power is very important and i dont want teams to start to pitch around abreu.
-
Glad to see we got him signed. I wonder if he wasn't taken number one because of boras or if teams liked the other pitchers, i still am shocked he fell to us in the draft though. What do you think boras would have asked for if rodon was taken number one.

Looking forward to seeing sale strikeout ten plus today. Wouldnt mind a homerun from abreu to, those are always nice.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:42 AM) ' What is everyone's obsession with moving Abreu to DH? He's hitting fine at 1B and you don't know if DHing would affect that and he is also fine defensively out there. Couldn't agree with you more.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:19 AM) I would do that, but first you gotta try and give them both time to prove they are durable and productive where they are. for Jose, other than some speed bumps early on, he's been solid enough (and healthy) playing 1B. Avi has straight line speed, an arm in theory, but perhaps not much instinctual play in the OF, we'll see if he can stick. Only real reason i see to push abreu out of first base is someone who completely out plays him. While people may argue he is bad on defense, i really haven't seen it to often. And other than cabera i honestly cant think of another person i would want at first base. While i know we wont have dunn for long in the future we need to pick up another legitimate power threat otherwise teams will begin to pitch around abreu. If garcia is able to keep growing and can stick in the outfield, thats more of a core we have and makes it easy to plug in a player or two at other spots. I would rather have garcia pan out in the outfield and be our permanent starter next year, as well as abreu at first, then maybe go sign victor martinez as our dh next year or nelson cruz, but he will be expensive. Instead of moving garcia to first and abreu to dh and go with a good defensive outfielder especially since there isnt many who are free agents and we would lose a lot of power out of our lineup.

"Reinsdorf uses Bulls revenue to fund the Sox!"
venom4789 replied to lostfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I maybe wrong, but i believe reinsdorf loves the white sox, way more than the bulls, and he is huge into the bulls. I am pretty sure he said something along the lines of how he would trade all the jordan era championships for one sox one. I think it was along the lines of i wouldnt wear another bulls ring if i could get a white sox one. I think he said it after they won the al central in 05. Like i said i maybe wrong but if it is the case i dont see why he would take money that he makes from the bulls to support the team he loves. -
QUOTE (thedoctor @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 02:25 PM) welcome. i started at the white sox boards, too, many moons ago. this board is better. although we don't ever argue so sorry to disappoint you there. While i am sure there are there moments it seems this board doesnt have the random trolls that continually pop up over there, or posters who continue to say the same thing over and over.
-
Looks like the sox are teaming up with the nationals while the cubs are teaming up with the tigers in getting their players in, wonder why they choose not to team up with eachother.
-
Sorry if this is in the wrong area but wasnt able to find a thread or folder where to post if your a new poster and to introduce yourself. just figured i would say hi since i have just recently joined the board. I have been a huge white sox fan my whole life, originally a poster at whitesox.com but after recent updates to their message board and constant bickering over politics i have decided to move to greener pastures. Seems like a lot of people know baseball pretty well here so hoping it leads to great conversations, discusions and even arguements. My favorite white sox player black jack My favorite game i went to was game 2 against the redsox in 05 when iguchi hit the big homerun. Favorite player in baseball is ken griffey jr, i could watch him swing a bat for hours. And the play that always sticks out to me was watching robin ventura try to charge nolan ryan, i was a huge fan of venture and just remember being devasted when he got put in the headlock. Looking forward to contributing and having fun.

Boras is going to be burned by a team soon and i hope its the white sox. I understand its his job to get the most money possible for his players but the price he is asking is ridiculous. I would love the white sox to put their offer public and force boras to make a decision, Over slightly above slot and dont budge from there. There is no reason at all we should go way over slot and lose a draft pick because of it. With us able to get compensation if he chooses to go back to school its not like we are losing out, and there will be more pitchers available next draft. I get the feeling boras is telling rodon he will get paid a lot of money over slot and the white sox will cave. I wonder what rodon will do if we say this is our offer take it or go back to school. Will he really be willing to risk an injury to try to make more money next draft when in all honesty there really isnt more money to be made. I also wouldnt be suprised if this is the last boras client we work with either way the situation works out.

I can see them doing a bit of both. If we are able to aqcuire a player that helps us in the future we have shown we dont mind doing that. I am hoping to be able to move dunn, and hopefully someone thinks de aza is worth something. Im still in between on dayan, i wouldnt mind keeping him, unless we are given an offer we can refuse.
-
well hopefully we break the streak today with sale.
-
so is it possible for us to just stop playing saturday games, we havent won one yet this whole season. Wonder if it is some kind of random record also.
-
lets see abreu get a hold of one
-
At the start of the season i was all about trading vicedo and keeping de aza, wish we traded de aza then, werent the giants looking at him.
