  1. I hope Madrigal is good. My point is, his path to be a better-than-average contributor is narrow. His path to be the kind of impact player you hope to get drafting #4 is tiny.
  2. Also, Marco Hernandez is ripping the ball and he hits lefthanded. I thought he looked okay in the Spring. Any chance he gets some utility run later in the year?
  3. I get it's a small park where the ball jumps but Sheets hit that waaay back.
  4. Of course not. My concern is the profile. Righthanded hitter with no power and very few walks. He's got 70 bat to ball skills, maybe 60 speed. 50 defense and a 40 arm (at best). He's got to hit .320 to be a plus player over there. We were sold plus defense, he's nowhere near that. Ceiling is a 3 win player, but a medium outcome is Darwin Barney without the GG D. There's a reason players of this profile are not picked often in the first half of the first round. Compare Madrigal to Nicky Lopez. Lopez hasn't been a great hitter thus far in his career, but he hits lefthanded. The defense is plus, and he can play shortstop in a pinch. The speed is at least as good as Madrigal's if not a half grade better, and he was a 5th rounder. That's where you take second basemen. Not #4 in the draft.
  5. You're probably right. But it doesn't mean they wouldn't be better that way.
  6. True. I was a big fan of the Anderson pick because the upside in all of his xbh was evident.
  7. Ouch. His profile is so strange that consistency would be one selling point. Sox getting close to a decision point that I would have thought unlikely a year ago: Long-term are the Sox better with Madrigal at second and Moncada at third OR Moncada at second and Burger at third? Moncada's not a great second baseman, but neither is Madrigal. And at least Moncada has the arm to consistently turn two. Right now defensively Burger @ 3rd > Madrigal @ 2nd.
  8. I was anti-Madrigal, meh Singer, pro-Kelenic, but I'm wrong plenty, so that means nothing. Hopefully, the Sox are making a turn to at least considering more HS hitters. Removing an entire category of players from consideration is no way to have success in the draft.
  9. Ugh, I’m getting a bad feeling about all these missed opportunities. Letting KC stay in the game.
  10. He was one bad umpiring call away from giving up 6 runs.
  11. I've always liked Dedelow's swing, but Romy Gonzalez??? His numbers are crazy. I get he's 24 and best case scenario is a Mendick, but... fun.
  12. 7 K's in 3 IP for Bilious tonight. He's a little old for the level, but seems like he might have a future. Possibly coming out of the pen?
  13. Sadly Ramirez is under team control for two more friggin' years. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/cleveland-indians/jose-ramirez-14106/
  14. Rutherford's hitting too. Or they could bring up another pitcher. Literally anyone makes more sense than Lamb at this point.
  15. Wow. Non Ruiz righties in Sox pen really slumping.
  16. Hope that's a strike for everyone else too. Not close.
  17. This is the tightest 6 run lead in history.
  18. Crochet's gotta be available, right? He faced 2 batters yesterday.
  19. Looks like Marshall's gonna need that college degree.
