  1. Holy hell I made a joke about Micah bunting to break up the no-no in the third inning.
  2. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 08:40 AM) Have a feeling Milone will give us trouble. I said that this morning and I'm still embarrassed watching this.
  3. Apparently he hasn't learned you don't bunt to break up a no-hitter.
  4. When Hector Noesi wants to get you out, he'll get you out.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) This morning on the "Kap and Haugh" show David Haugh said that Ventura and Molitor have something in common: They are both managing in the shadow of Ron Gardenhire. I thought this was interesting. I'm not one of these people blaming Ventura and I generally think he's fine. I don't think Gardy is a fit though. He would lose his mind dealing with Chicago media every day and he has absolutely no interest in using analytics/metrics. Doesn't seem like a Rick Hahn move. Most likely just dump speculation on Haugh's part. Thoughts? Sloppy speculation, I don't see it happening. I don't see Robin getting fired to begin with unless things get very, very ugly.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Edit: I guess you can have AVI DH and Emilio play RF There it is. To clarify BTW, LaRoche's OPS+ against lefties is not 77. That's his tOPS+, which just scales around a given player's baseline. So he's at 107 against R and 77 against L, which comes out to 100. His OPS+ is probably a lot closer to his wRC+ over at Fangraphs, which is 89.
  7. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) Was anyone a fan of 'Twitch Plays Pokemon'? Can we do something like that for this team? 'Soxtalk Manages White Sox'. We all collectively vote on what should happen, and the highest vote wins. We'd immediately become better, and save a ton of money not having to pay a manager. ANARCHY This is a bad idea because you'd just have a bunch of trolls voting bunt all the time.
  8. Funny how the guys everybody craps on always come up in the RBI situations.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) He's got a great changeup. If the past is any indication, the Sox will have issues hitting him. "FIVE WORST WORDS YOU CAN TELL A HITTER."
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) If they get swept this series, then it's absolutely freak out time. Honestly, yeah, I can get behind that. Noesi wiggles out of it.

  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) How would there even be stats on that? You don't have to sign up for register if you just move in with someone. Possibly just a survey? I don't know. Figures like that are often surrounded by noise from other, more important factors anyway. Intuitively, living together before marriage should absolutely decrease the divorce rate, so there must be something else twisting the numbers. Age, I bet. Young people tend to move in beforehand more, and also get divorced more.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Probably true, but Gordo had a nice first game and is much better with the glove than Boni. I too hope Boni gets a fair amount of the ABs against LHP at 3B, but for now..I am fine with it. Is he really though? I feel like everyone's just basing that on stuff Hahn said during the offseason, a bad spring for Bonifacio, and just total blind faith I guess. Last year in his only 3B action since 2009, Beckham's UZR/150 would have made him the worst third baseman in baseball by far (small sample granted), and he's already looked bad on a popup this week. Meanwhile, Bonifacio's got a perfectly respectable track record at third. I'm perfectly open to being convinced, but what have we actually seen that tells us Beckham can play third base? QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) Bonifacio's pathetic defense this spring is probably what is costing him. I think you're right but that's not a good enough reason. I hope they aren't so easily swayed by a couple dozen spring innings that they'd invalidate a $4M investment. If they don't trust him to play the field and to hit against lefties then they made a mistake signing him, because he's a very expensive pinch runner. Not drawing conclusions based on 2 instances here but this Gillaspie/Beckham platoon is on its way to becoming a trend.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) Probably has to do with Beckham's success against Milone and the fact that he had a good day at the plate on Wednesday. 3 for 8 with a homer and 2 strikeouts against a guy is about as uninformative as a sample gets, and one of his hits Wednesday was a swinging bunt. I get that Beckham is a better choice than Gillaspie but he shouldn't just be an automatic start against lefties. And the reason is because he suuuUUUCKS GOD IT'S SO AGGRAVATING. Seriously though, he hasn't done jack **** to earn these plate appearances over Bonifacio.
  15. Look if Bonifacio's not gonna play against lefties, we might as well get rid of him.
  16. Have a feeling Milone will give us trouble.
  17. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) So you're saying there's a chance? http://nesn.com/2011/04/history-proves-mlb...stseason-party/ That website is trying to murder my computer.
  18. The point is you don't have to look that far to find teams who succeeded after slow starts. Yes it sucks being down 3 in the standings already and nobody's happy, but it's a long season. Always focus on that.
  19. As a Greg, I can appreciate what Greg Holland has done for the Greg cause. He's really advanced the Gregenda.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) Was that the 2nd game of '05 when the Sox were down 3-0 to CLE and PK and Dye went back to back to tie it? You are correct.
  21. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) have ANY of our pitchers looked right? legit question. i only saw the opener, but no one seems to be doing well. Not able to watch live today but it seems like Hey Hey Hey Matt Albers had a nice inning. So there's that.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) Yeah, I cant really grow one, its a pathetic neckbeard Ditto. My mustache fills in nicely after 4 or 5 weeks though. Micah with the XBH. I knew Yost would be tempted to stick with Volquez but I think that would be a mistake. This one's not quite over.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Criticizing KC is just taking the focus off the more important/pressing issue. That issue, as we all know, being beards.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) WTF? Hahaha no kidding. Anyway, ESPN's PBP is showing Albers relieving Guerra in green font, which usually indicates a run-scoring play. Bad omen.
