  1. QUOTE (brett05 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) I know exactly what I am arguing Then you need to articulate it, because nobody knows what you're talking about.
  2. QUOTE (brett05 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) As history shows you aren't trading anything if Rodon is the real deal. I get the feeling you aren't exactly sure what you're arguing about. If Rodon spends x days off the 25-man roster this year, then he becomes a free agent one year later. That's the trade.
  3. Next person who says "I BET SOTO REPLACES FLOWERS AS THE STARTER IN THE NEXT ___ WEEKS" gets kicked in the teeth. Been wanting to say that for a while.
  4. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Sox may get three but I have a feeling the injuns are getting a few more. Cleveland used their pen last evening so making bauer throw a ton of pitches would be a good idea but a philosophy that continually escapes the Chicago White Sox. He's at 71 through 4 IP, that's not exactly low.
  5. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) So! Who wants to start 0-2 2K and bad defense over Tyler Flowers now? Anyone? I fully endorse this post.
  6. South Side Sox ‏@SouthSideSox 2m2 minutes ago And Jose Abreu ends Trevor Bauer's no-hit season by beating the shift. Wait were they shifting Abreu? I can't remember that happening before.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Both of Cleveland's were hit hard but right at guys. Not the answer I was hoping for but thanks.
  8. A lot of "lineouts" in that first inning. Were any of them hit particularly hard?
  9. Everyone knows stopping a running game is as much the pitcher's job as the catcher's. Still, while I haven't actually watched all of Flowers' throws, it seems like a few of them have been errant.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) Didn't they also give up a better 1st round pick signing Miller? Miller changed teams midseason 2014, so he was ineligible for a QO.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) Carrasco is ok. He's starting Monday against the Sox. WOW, that's great! We need some kind of handshake moment when Melky comes up to bat. I can just see it now in one of MLB Network's season-in-review montages.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) They thought they could get the same type of reliever in Miller, for cheaper, plus pick up a draft pick./ Not only that but they had Dellin Betances throwing up one of the all-time ridiculous reliever seasons last year. Unfortunately he's struggling so far and has lost his mechanics, by reports.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Hopefully these are just the growing pains in the learning to be aggressive. It's been pretty ugly so far, but sometimes being thrown out teaches you something. The close ones with near perfect relays shouldn't bother anyone. It's when someone is out by 20 feet that is bothersome. Yes, I feel like in a vacuum Eaton getting burned at third last night wouldn't have been frustrating at all. Just a speedy guy trying to make a play and the other team made a better play. But since it happened in the same game as LaRoche trying to take third on a grounder hit to the left side, it just inspired a here-we-go-again feeling. Same with Micah out at home on the contact play - it really wasn't his fault but it seemed worse in light of his other mistakes. So far the aggression hasn't paid off but the luck is bound to level off a little. That said, there have still been far too many blunders. It's staggering just how many runners we've lost on the basepaths in one week.
  14. The pen has been the best performing unit on the team this year. Outside of the first day debacle, I count seven runs in 17.2 innings, one being unearned and another being the gift in Duke's five out inning the other day.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) This team is playing so stupid. Relay was sick. I share Eaton's surprise, I figured he had a triple as soon as he hit it.
  16. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) Q didn't have his great stuff today, but he kept the Sox in the game. That's all you can ask from a starting pitcher. Yeah he gutted it out. Not an impressive performance by Bonifacio.
  17. Horrible injury luck for the Indians this year. Now he's standing. If there's one plus here it's that it doesn't look like he'll have brain damage from this.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Didn't someone say the deadline for getting an extra year for Rodon was on Friday? That makes Sunday a little more interesting. Friday or right around there. That possibility is totally in play but I'm assuming we won't find out for a few days. EDIT: flavum's right, forgot he had a Charlotte start coming up.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) Yes but that is limited. He isn't going to bat for Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, Garcia, Ramirez. And not a lot of teams have more than 1 or 2 LH relievers. He is going to have to face RHP, and as I predicted, the first time he starts against a RHP, the not being used properly posts would accumulate. If all he can face is LHP, he is a waste of a roster spot. Okay, but the problem is that after today all he'll have faced is RHP, a condition under which he's even more of a waste. The posts are accumulating because they're correct.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) You're right that Bonifacio will need to start against RHP from time to time, but those starts should come when we have long stretches of games with limited off-days and need to give Micah a rest. Starting him against a RHP when we have a stretch of two games in four days is completely stupid for lots of reasons. Unfortunately, Robin didn't start him against the two lefties we already faced, because if he did he probably wouldn't feel compelled to give him a token start today. Pretty much sums it up. Now if we find out that something is nagging Micah to the point that he can't go, we can all do a big mea culpa. But for now, it just seems silly.
  21. Part of me's trying to not to make a big deal out of this Bonifacio thing, but part of me is just really annoyed. To paraphrase terms I used a few days ago, it's not an incredibly important mistake, but it is an incredibly obvious one.
