It sounds like Hawk and Stone are broadcasting from inside a tin can. Thanks, Cozi TV!

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) What a trade for the twins What a trade for everybody. We were introduced to a man named Boof!

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Where are you seeing the pitching for that? Half the game is hitting anyway and none of the Royals' starters, Volquez' hot start and imminent pumpkin transofrmation notwithstanding, is setting the world on fire. I can see any result really, it just depends on if the Sox decide they want to score some runs this weekend. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) Are you kidding or trolling? A sweep? I'm worried about KC going 7-0 vs the Sox on the season. I truly don't think the Sox recover from that. If Sale loses tonight, talk of the sweep would already be rampant. KC is cocky right now and doesn't think it can be beat. Yes, but you're worried about almost everything. Daily. Here's the lineup. Standard once more. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 16m16 minutes ago #WhiteSox lineup 4/23: Eaton 8, Cabrera 7, Abreu 3, LaRoche DH, Garcia 9, Gillaspie 5, Ramirez 6, Flowers 2, Johnson 4. Sale v. Ventura.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Indeed. Cubs have yet to win a series against a decent team and are a game above .500 and their fans are acting like they're a shoe in for the playoffs. If Sale wins tonight we'll be one game worse than them and their terrific offense that includes the best infield in baseball (history).

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Yankees-Tigers going to the bottom of the 9th with the Yankees up 2-1. That was quick. Bold prediction: The Tigers and Royals will fall off this pace and neither will win 110+ games.

Jose Abreu Speaks His Mind on Sox' Poor Play -- a 1st?
shysocks replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) I'm worried he's hurt. His velocity's been subpar. Seems like this premise has gained traction here but it's just not true, at least if you believe in PITCHf/x at all. His velocity is down 1 MPH here and there, which is consistent with April trends that we've been aware of for years. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) He also added, But here we go! So it wasn't like he was totally against the idea until it backfired and then the Ha ha, Robin strikes again. You f***ing stupid bastard. He was straddling the fence ready to go either way. I'd interpret the Here We Go as excitement at watching Rodon pitch. Either way, he came out against the decision before anything happened, and his reasoning was pretty accurate. It had to be mentioned in the interest of full disclosure.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) I believe the complaints came after his first pitch or 2. Nah, the string I referenced was before he threw a pitch. I specifically remember. Most of the outrage was hindsight but that was not.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) Rodon was set up to succeed. He was sent in to face a LH .150 hitter who is 1-9 with 6 strikeouts vs. LHP. It would be pretty hard to find a more favorable match up. If you look at some of the posts of the people who love to rip Robin after the fact and are ripping this move, you will realize if he stayed with Noesi and Noesi didn't get the out, they would be ripping him for not going with Rodon. There were ZERO complaints about going to Rodon in the gamethread until after the fact. Not true, I remember because I responded to a complaint. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) Not sure I am a fan of him coming in with runners on in a jam. But here we go! QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) Yeah it's definitely unorthodox. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:41 PM) You know he has to have a lot of nerves and his adrenaline is running high.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) It's funny because I think the guy who did the most damage against Sale is now playing for A's. I don't see anyone in the line up that poses a significant threat to Sale. Moose and Hosmer should be auto outs. They'll get hits but I don't think they'll be able to string too many together. Yeah Butler smacks Sale around and he's out of the picture. Hosmer and Moustakas have been pitiful, with a .464 and .450 OPS. Alcides Escobar and Lorenzo Cain have done pretty well (.937, .946).

Pitching match-ups for White Sox/Royals series

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) in all seriousness, at least for me, it is sCrubs, Yanks, and Det. i love the idea of getting a new rival, it adds to the flavor of the game. I will always hate the Cubs the most because their fans are so Cubbish, but as far as individual teams go, these Royals rank up there. -
Can't wait to watch this game on Cozi TV or whatever. Do they broadcast in hi def? I'm only half joking.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) It's basically the same exact design as Kauffman Stadium....minus the outfield fountains, and the fact that the upper decks in KC gradually slope down towards the foul poles instead of staying at the same height all the way around. I'm surprised you managed to insert the Royals into this thread, usually you don't mention them very often.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 07:13 AM) When have they not protected leads? Sox have won every game that they were leading when the starter left the game. There just haven't been very many leads to protect so far. I think that's what he meant.

Pitching match-ups for White Sox/Royals series

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) I hate this Royals team more than I can remember hating any team in recent memory. I need the Sox to give me a sweep here. Ditto. They're chumps and I love Lawrie's quotes. Sale in 7 career starts at home against KC: 4-3, 47 IP, 12 R, 50 H, 43 K, 7 BB -
Coming into today there had been 15,717 plate appearances in MLB this season. 3,170 had contained an 0-2 count. That's 20.2%. Alexei Ramirez now has 14 0-2 counts in 50 plate appearances, good for 28%. Not as high as I would have guessed.

You're outta your element, Lonnie.

Late to the party here, but the list of pitchers Abreu has taken deep is truly impressive. A lot of past and current greats on his trophy shelf.

Nice inning Shark. Be The Man today.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) Q was not developed with the Sox. He was brought up else where tossed aside and the Sox picked him up as a side project. He got good with the Sox, isn't that worth something?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) Sarcasm. I'm reading the post again and the tone strongly indicates you were not being sarcastic. It's fine if you wanna be a Royals fan, go for it. Just be honest.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Thunder have fired Scott Brooks Bill Simmons @BillSimmons 1m1 minute ago Hearing OKC wants Billy Donovan or Kevin Ollie... and if they can't get either one, they might wait to see if Bulls/Thibs self-destructs. "Hearing." So it's not necessarily just his usual throwing **** against the wall.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) Technically 5 rbi's is the average for 31 runners on but that seem pretty crappy to be only driving in 16% of base runners and leaving 84% of base runners on base. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...b&year=2015 If 16% is roughly the league average, then you'd definitely expect Abreu to be higher because he's better than the average hitter.
