What's the Best Approach to Rebuilding
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) [/b] Considering there are basically no examples of a total tear down actually working in a relatively short period of time... I actually don't care how long it takes. I can't sit through these seasons again and again. I'm a "core fan" and would much rather watch a team of prospects then what is currently on the field. That is far more interesting to me...

What's the Best Approach to Rebuilding
The "fans" that magically appeared in 05/06, then disappeared, then had a magic 8 ball last year and saw they would choke in September and refused to come out, would be back if they could get a consistent winner, via full rebuild half rebuild, 1/8 rebuild whatever the f***. The worry about permanently losing some core fans from a rebuild isn't really a concern for me because let's be honest, the core isn't that big to begin with and the team still makes $$$, can afford a big payroll (of crappy players, but still...) and the MLB hasn't contracted or moved the team because of attendance and won't ever do so. "Rebuilding on the Fly" is an insult to those core fans. It's a fingers crossed, blowing on a dandelion, wishing on a shooting star gambit that is only resulting in frustration.

What's the Best Approach to Rebuilding
This team has no excitement currently and no clear vision for the future. That is a deadly combo that makes me wanna tune out.

Is Ventura a good game manager?
I for one don't really wanna accept the philosophy of being the middle of the pack team that jut hopes they catch lightning in a bottle once every 5-10 years which is what they've been doing for the past 20 years or so. If the choice is complete rebuild, staying in the middle, or turning into the Yankees/Dodgers, I choose rebuild. If they stay in the middle, and change NOTHING my interest in baseball is just going to drop like a rock. Someone is going to have to buy this team for anything to change, either from the current ownership, or afte JR dies and his kids have no interest or whatever the breakdown is for a post-JR regime. I can't take this middle of the road s*** for much longer.

What's the Best Approach to Rebuilding
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) Then they'll be on their 3rd GM and 4th coach, if nothing else. And that's better?

Is Ventura a good game manager?
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) Ventura had the easiest job on the planet last year, as he was "not Ozzie Guillen". I don't know what the heck happened to him and the team the last month of 2012 and the first month of this season, but it's going to be a very short stay for him as Sox manager if he's not able to generate some excitement with the team and the organization. Too bad that means the length of his contract and no sooner. Robin turns down an extension and now his team is playing like s*** just like they were before? What's up? If this team doesn't change by the All-Star break Robin should be fired. Plain and simple. But it won't happen.

Is Ventura a good game manager?
If Robin Ventura was not a former White Sox player that was hand picked and had to convinced to manage, he would be in the hottest seat in all of MLB. The fundamentals that were lacking in Ozzie-managed teams and stressed so much early in 2012 that led the White Sox to be in 1st for most of the season only to fall apart in September have somehow managed to carry over 6 months later into the 2013 season and is costing the team dearly. That is 100% unacceptable and someone needs to held accountable. Unfortunately accountability is a four-letter word for the Chicago White Sox baseball organization. This is a failure all around, from the top on down and it is pathetic to see.

Twins @ White Sox, 4/20/12
Jake should get to punch every batter in the nuts today for the effort they gave back to him... Dunn twice.
-
Twins @ White Sox, 4/20/12
Turned on FOX out here hoping they might do the "more competitive game" thing, since it's Angels-Tigers right now, but no luck (maybe that's only an NFL thing) But a question... Is FOX using a different HD camera or something this year? It looks a little different, is it just me?

Twins @ White Sox, 4/20/12
Worely wear glasses! Hit this NERD c'mon!

Twins @ White Sox, 4/20/12
The f*** is Robin doing? Stop putting Dunn 4th!! Doesn't matter lefty or righty the result is going to be the same. An out. Paulie should be batting clean up end of story. This swapping them every other day s*** is getting real old.

2013 AL Central Catch All thread
Angels beat Detroit. Dotel gives up 5 earned, so that bullpen ERA continues to inflate. Also figured out my give up point on the Sox this season. If at any point they get 7 games out of first place for more than a few days, that for them based on recent play is more than likely insurmountable. So far 2 games back and the Central appears like it'll be another weak year where 90 or less nate gets it done and no one is going much higher than that.

Mitchell down to Birmingham
Well this should be a big wake-up call for him.

Sox push back rotation
Can we push both Axe and Floyd completely out of the rotation? Like for good?
-
4/18 Games
Beck/Johnson is a nice combo in the farm system. Next Spring should be interesting cause I could see Quintana, Santiago, Beck, and Johnson all competing for slots 4-5 of the rotation (assuming the health of the 3 guys signed for next year that will definitely be in the rotation in Peavy, Danks, and Sale) Not a bad problem.

No Game - from April
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) Oh yeah, now you can't watch the boring-ass White Sox. OH NO! It's a sickness haha
-
No Game - from April
This sucks on two levels since tomorrow is a FOX National Game, so I'm screwed till Sunday.
-
No Game - from April
This mostly has to be because of wind right? Cause it was at least as cold in Cleveland for a few of those games.

No Game - from April
The f***? When was the last time that happened?

How Much Rope Does Dunn Have?
Okay, Now it's just fascinating... I really wanna know what would happen when a Major League Baseball player is hitting below .100 I know the answer is absolutely nothing at all since he's a vet and signed to a major contract, but still...

Sox vs Jays GT 4-18 6:07 CT
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 05:23 PM) I thought Sale was supposed to be the ace. Gonna be a loooooong time before the Sox extend another one of their starters beyond 2 years. Danks contract already an albatross, now looking like they should have waited one more year before deciding on Sale.

Sox vs Jays GT 4-18 6:07 CT
Sox have no chance against that knuckler tonight. 1 run is plenty for Dickey.

How Much Rope Does Dunn Have?
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 06:56 AM) That shift has got to cost him a ton of hits. But, what blows my mind is that he can't adjust to it and poke a hit to shallow left. I remember him doing that a few times in Spring Training and it worked beautifully. Don't know why he hasn't tried it yet in the regular season.

2013 MLB Catch-All thread
1 and 2 in the AL East? Red Sox and Yankees. Dammit, wasn't this the year that all changes? Haha.

2013 AL Central Catch All thread
The ridiculousness of Detroits 1-4 just isn't sustainable. Just like the Sox pen #'s so far. I can't believe they don't play until July haha.
