  1. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 05:59 PM) They shouldn't, but I threw the new guy a bone to chew on. I'm sure he's not some robot in the dugout/clubhouse. I can't post videos from my tablet so I'd love for someone to post the video of him mocking piazza. Its a classic that I'm not sure everyone has seen. I found it and it is kinda funny
  2. I also figure we'll be 15 games better this yr. as long as we stay healthy
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) What?? He had used all of his pitchers... What should he have done? Send Coop out there to throw? So you figure he just lost count of how many pitchers he had in the bullpen? Is it better to use a ss who's never pitched before in his life in a tie game?
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 08:45 AM) In most situations the pitching coach suggests what to do and the manager makes the decision, usually in line with the pitching coach. With Cooper's experience and success, Robin usually listens to Cooper but he makes the final decision. Thats about what I figured. So it's hard to put it all on RV in any case good or bad. Unless we're talking RV's coaching staff, RV being the figure head.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 08:34 AM) you mean the game i just referenced when they ran out of pitchers, because not one pitcher could get an out? Yes, I guess I figured he just got mad and said anybody can pitch as good as you guys. Which I can't say I blame him, but still the game was tied. It felt like to me he was frustrated and gave up.
  6. My question is did RV manage the bullpen or did Coop? I still have to scratch my head in wonder when he brought in LGar in a tie game in April.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 06:49 AM) Melky signing does several thing for the sox. 1. he is going to man the final outfield spot and do it well. 2. he will hit at the #2 spot of the lineup with avg. 3. is a switch hitter. 4. comes at the market value for 3 yrs. the only negative i can think of. 1. spring training is several months away. That negative is killing me
  8. So when Bill Veeck brought in Eddie Gaedel to pinch hit was that cheating? I thought it was entertaining
  9. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 05:38 PM) For those of you who were around for it, did you criticize our signing of Albert Belle? Because he was basically a violent, homicidal maniac... lol an Jimmy Piersall was a class act as well. To be honest I liked him though
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) I'd had the same logic float through my mind last night... about an hour later - I did a 180 and am now against it. Think about the future implications... 1.) It could potentially limit us if we are looking to extend Sale / Abreu in a few years. 2.) It could potentially prevent us from extending Shark. 3.) We have a potential cost effective front line starter in Rodon close to coming in. 4.) Scherzer is likely going to be paid like an ace for 4 years of decline. 5.) The starting pitching market in 1 more year for FA is much more robust. As much as I'd like Max you're 100% correct. We haven't won anything yet and might need to upgrade a few positions next yr. as well. Don't spend it all just yet
  11. Yes I agree with everyone Bonifacio's a good fit and I do like Webb over Surkamp. As far as the bullpen goes, I think spring training will give us a better clue who stays or gets demoted.
  12. Nice post, thanks I enjoyed reading it but we're gonna win....lol
  13. I'm a baseball fan and my favorite team's the White Sox, has been my whole life an always will be. With that said I'm not a Melky fan. He cheated and then lied about it. I have mixed feelings about signing him but he's only one player on this team. Every team has a player or two I'm not fond of. I made it through the 2013 season, embarrassed yea but I still told everyone my favorite team was/is the White Sox. I'm not about to change that now. Without baseball life has little meaning for me. Go Sox
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 04:43 AM) I'm a big Conor supporter. Granted I've been partial to 3rd basemen all my life but nonetheless I think Conor having hit 13 HR's 2 years ago then hitting for a decent average last year has a good chance to now hit for average and power. Late in the year Robin gave him a bigger glove , maybe even one of Robin's old gloves if I am remembering right and seemed as if his defense got better late in the season. So I'm hoping for a big year for Conor.( at least against RH's) I'm a big Gilli fan myself and would agree with your assumption. I didn't know about RV giving him a bigger glove, hope it helps.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 02:58 AM) I personally think the Sox hit every one of their primary options other than maybe catcher. What do you think. Every dang one. I think we're contenders. Thank you Mr. Hahn an company
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) I would say the roster as of now is: OF: Eaton, AGarcia, Cabrera, Danks, Viciedo IF: Sanchez, Ramirez, Gillaspie, Saladino 1B/DH: Abreu, LaRoche C: Flowers, Brantly SP: Sale, Samardizja, Quintana, Noesi, Danks RP: Robertson, Petricka, Duke, Putnam, Guerra, Webb, Jennings Moving Viciedo and replacing him with a good utility guy and possibly moving Danks are really the only moves left. Looks pretty good to me. Moving Viciedo an signing Bonifacio would be my hope. We've also got some pretty good bullpen arms in the minors that could be very helpful. Moving Danks would be nice but we'd need to find a replacement for him. I'm pretty happy with Hahn right now.
  17. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) Bonifacio would be a perfect final addition to the lineup I feel. Incredibly versatile and brings at least average defense at 2B, 3B, and across the outfield. Most importantly he hits LHP well (and was a beast vs. lefties last year with a 170 wRC+). He'd bring some much needed speed and base running ability to the party also. Would be a good option to platoon with Gillaspie at 3B. I think it's very important to make sure Gillaspie is not being relied upon as the everyday 3B. He's so bad against lefties. I agree 100%
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) He'll be gone soon enough IMO, adding Melky pretty much takes away all our leverage that we're serious about using Dayan as a starter next year. Also, SouthSideSox mentioned in an article recently that we could DFA Viciedo prior to spring training and only be on the book for like $750k. Again, I'm sure he'll be gone before then, but nice to know our risk is limited if there are no buyers. That is nice to hear, didn't know that. I can't imagine Bonifacio would cost much more than what's left from DV's contract.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 02:25 AM) i would go for Bonifacio in a heartbeat. ref to Danks and Tank, trade Tank for any comp pick and call it even. Yep, guess I jumped the gun but I'd still love to see Bonifacio. I thought we were outa money...lol guess ole KW did some smooth talkin to JR. Not a fan of Melky's but he fits an he's the best bat out there. This teams lookin pretty good
  20. I'm very surprised..Look out Det., KC, theres a new team in the central
  21. I don't know if I'm getting anxious or nervous but I'd sign Aoki and Bonifacio to short term contracts and call it a yr. Hahn could still play around with DanknTank for possible trades keeping in mind we'd need another starter if he trades Danks. Best case Aoki becomes a 4th outfielder (if Hahn finds a better fit) but he's a ton better than Tank an would be a great #2 in the order. Bonifacio could spell Gilli an play some 2nd base as well as the outfield. I know theres still plenty of time but.....
  22. Interesting read. I liked your picks for the most part
  23. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) Victorino and eaton are sure bets to get hurt next year wether it's a 15 day dl stints or day to days etc they just can't play a whole season. Then what happens? Especially if it's at the same time. Some combination of danks,Leaury, campana, viciedo? Oh come on...just a few days ago I was all happy we signed Shark an Robertson an now I just got a shiver reading this....lol We do have Shuck. I'm not really sure about him though but you're right we need someone more dependable. I'm done with Vicedo but I think we're stuck with him. It would be nice if we could trade him for a RH backup for Gilli though or at least get our money back.
  24. I'm sorry but I can't believe for a sec. that we're only good enough for 77 wins. Am I being to much the Homie fan? I think Hahn made some pretty shrewd moves an improved us to at least a better than 500 club. and with a good yr. I really believe we can compete for the central or at least a wild card spot. I think we still need a left fielder at least but otherwise I'll take my chances with this team.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:03 PM) I share what I can. I'm not a an oracle. I'll use IMO next time. I've had my share of solid info on deals though, but I get as much bs info fed to me as the next guy. I'm kinda new as a member, not as a lurker an one of the reasons I became a member is to say Thank You to you an everyone else who fills my head with info, so Thank You
