  1. They got more back than what they gave up because when they got Kimbrel they also took on Melvin Upton Jr. in the deal.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) Sale is a lot more valuable than Kimbrel IMO. In your opinion? Well it's pretty obvious to everyone.
  3. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) Clearly you wouldn't want to sign Yoenis Cespedes, for example, if it meant having to give up a Josh Phegley 4 years away from playing in the majors. I'll be honest, I don't know what you mean since Cespedes has no free agent comp with him.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) 3 top 50 picks, I'll take it. Don't jinx it. Edit: Though I don't think they will sign anyone who will cost a draft pick.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) Braves apparently resigned AJ Perzynski. With Wieters and AJ both off the market kind of looks as if Flowers stays our main mug behind the plate?? Didn't expect either anyway.
  6. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) Are you sure about this? He is currently a free agent, so I don't know if thats true. They can't trade him. In the story on MLBTR about Rasmus accepting, it says the team can't trade him until June (or maybe July).
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:40 AM) From what I have read, they fleeced the angels. They got a starting SS who isnt bad himself, and their top pitching prospects plus cash, and removed a 53 million dollar committment Those Braves are really stocking up. They have to have the best farm in baseball after all those deals the past year.
  8. QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) They shouldn't have given him a QO. Padres shouldn't have given Kennedy a QO; given this news, I would say he is almost certain to accept. Kendrick might accept too. No way Boras will let him decline.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Lol no He's definitely not over rating him but he's definitely not a "once in a generation pitcher (well maybe for thus organization.
  10. He obviously posted that before he got traded....
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) But if they are going to be selling off assets and rebuilding, why would the take on $13M of a dead money and take up a position from a young player who could use the experience? I am willing to bet they would rather just send over $10M than take LaRoche and his $13M. Unless they truly think they can flip him in July for a couple of prospects. We'll if they want to give us close to LaRoche's salary, fine. Makes it easier to cut him when he's not hitting in April.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) It balances out the money, but no team in baseball would have interest in making Adam LaRoche their starting 1B. I don't think the Rockies are in win-now mode. Unless they decide to play a rookie at first, LaRoche for one year isn't bad.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 07:40 AM) Yup, I feel the exact same way. Q isn't going anywhere. I don't think so either...unless they get an offer they can't refuse.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) He'll sign in San Francisco and I bet he has a really good year. Yep. And it'd be fitting too since it's an even number year. We all know how that works for the Giants in recent years....
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) #InsidePitch's @JimBowden_ESPN fits for Desmond: #Mets, #Padres, #WhiteSox, sleeper #Athletics. Won't return to #Nationals, Turner at SS https://twitter.com/MLBNetworkRadio/status/...540270655066112 So basically nothing new?
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/664490052261535744 A couple exhibitions in San Diego to end it. Good to see they're staying out west before playing in Oakland, and not going to an affiliate. With our luck, we'll get chosen for a Cuba game and it'll be the last spring training game forcing us to go from West to the east to back out west for game in Oakland.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) He actually had 2 years left on his contract. I don't think he was a place holder. Whatever it is, the Cubs and the almighty Theo, thought he was good enough for their young players as the manager. As a bench coach, no one should have a problem with this hire. 3 year contracts are pretty standard for new managers though. I think it's rare to see 1 year deals for managers.
  18. It always seems like guys (not just our team) go onto rake in the AFL but not so much the following minor league year. I pray he can carry it over.
  19. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) Isn't every team looking for young, cost controlled talent? Ha...yeah the title isn't exactly earth shattering news.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) He can be had. He's not untouchable. He shouldn't be untouchable anyway.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) I was about to make a rebuttal... but then I saw Lucroy's 2015 stats. Let's deal for Derek Norris instead.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:47 AM) Why? If I were a team with $$ I'd rather sign free agent pitching instead of giving up the prospects. Because every team may not have the money to offer up $150-200 mill for a starter.
  23. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:23 AM) Quotes in New England this morning from Dobrowski say several GM's are actively looking to trade this week. http://www.providencejournal.com/article/2...PORTS/151109306 You think teams would want to try making trades for young cost controlled pitching before turning to free agent market giving out 9 figure contracts?
