QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) the chance of laroche going to another team is like the chances of RV managing the sox ..... seriously i am not being a smartass. Wait what? The way you worded it makes it seem like there's 100% chance of LaRoche going to another team like there is a 100% chance of Robin managing the Sox.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) No offense but that lineup still sucks. We need an impact bat and we'll get one hell or high water. My gut says Frazier but my head says CarGo Yeah our middle of the order looks bad.

I assume we'll sign a veteran to a minor league deal.
-
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) Even if they're out of it they'll need someone to catch the baseball and throw it back to the pitcher. Unless either of those two just goes Buster Posey and their value explodes I can't imagine us dealing them. Even then, we'd just be more inclined to keep them for 2017 Also, let's not act like the White Sox will do us any favors and be out of it come midseason. They wait until August and September to collapse They could sign guys to minor league deals and call them up when/if that happens.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) something to do with him being out of options and he can now start the year in the minors. I don't think it was a minor league deal.
-
He was projected to make $1 million in arb so I don't understand this.
-
Do we know how much yet? I'll guess $2 million.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) I'm hearing Jays fans are upset because he was Estrada's personal catcher, and apparently Estrada was much worse when throwing to others. I believe he was Buehrle's personal catcher too.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) Flowers pitch framing was elite. Navarro's supposedly poor. Flowers did have a tough year behind the plate, Navarro is supposed to be decent behind the plate. This could be a good case study on the importance of pitch framing. Pitchers liked throwing to Flowers, but supposedly they like throwing to Navarro as well. All in all, it isn't an earth shattering upgrade, but perhaps change is good. Agree 100%. His pitch framing is good but he's not very good defensively.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Is this just a prediction or do you know something that everyone else doesn't? Likely prediction. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) I wouldn't say we're "close" with him, I'd say he's a potential fit. Yeah title is misleading.

QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) I just don't see Dioner being THAT much better than Flowers. If they dumped Flowers I would imagine there's a bigger offensive acquisition incoming via trade. They'll probably save a million or two bringing Navarro in using saved money towards another player. -

I love that this also happened on the day Beckham signed somewhere else. So awesome. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) Castro hit worse than Flowers IIRC. Yeah let's stay away from him. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Say we sign Navarro? How long and how much? My guess is 2 years/6-8 million He's a free agent? Thought he was with Toronto for some reason. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) It seems he is the guy with Avila vs. RHP. Of course Emilio Bonifacio was supposed to kill lefties. Then that plan got ruined by resigning Beckham. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) Why on earth are people excited about the possibility of Wilin Rosario? I'm not at all. He's terrible. I'd rather have Navarro. If I recall he hits lefties good over his career. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Getting rid of Turner so quickly surprises me though. He never had a chance to work with Coop. Yeah that's more shocking me than Flowers. -

People on here look waaaaaay to into the whole Flowers is his personal catcher thing. Sale will be fine. Honestly, they'll probably bring in a right handed hitting, defensive first catcher for cheap to be his backup. Cheaper than what Flowers would make it should say. -
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) I am super appreciative that when I bought his jersey after his rookie year, that I did so on the 1959 throwback's with no name on it. Now I can say that is an Iguchi jersey for the beginning of the season and then hopefully by June I can say I was the first one to grab the Carson Fulmer jersey ... and THAT is how you do that. Or possibly Brett Lawrie

QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/nati...pan-fister.html Ah many thanks. I think he goes to the Cubs to fill 2 spots for them: leadoff and CF
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) Anyone else thinking this could be a good fit? Positives -No QO attached -Another high OBP bat at the top of order, allows Abreu to hit 3 -3 of last 4 seasons have been 3+ WAR -Length and terms of contract wont be too bad -Doesnt strike out a lot Negatives -Hip injury last season -Poor DRS numbers in CF last season (could be b/c of injury) -Sox would need to be creative about OF positions -Poor power OF, so would need to find more SLG from infield Could have sworn he received and rejected a QO.

Cubs will try to recruit players by not winning

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) Price was media fluff rah rah everyone loves Joe Maddon and the cubs crap I thought Zimmerman was the guy they were going to get It was that and the fact that still as a Tiger in 2014, he made comments about how cool it would be to win with the Cubs. He also didn't have a drat pick attached entering the offseason when everyone thought the Cubs were going to spend but they decided not to. (I think they've got the money to pull it off but also have a few holes that needed to be filled with it). -
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) when a guy is 35 I'm not sure you can write off declining defense as a blip. Father time catches up with everyone. He might have 1 year left as the guy who can play anywhere, but I'd be very afraid I was signing a 2B only for 3 years $45M. Zobrist's bat is good, but not sure it's that good heading into his twilight years I think it's more about what kind of shape you're in. If guys who can only play infield and guys who can only play outfield can play until they're almost 40, why can't a guy who does both continue to do both? I'm not advocating the signing of him but just thought I'd bring that point up.
