I don't think he'll make it out of the NL.

With 8 games in a row to start the season, I would imagine we see an 8 man bullpen to open the season (3 man bench: catcher, infielder, Shuck) then a roster move the first day off for another bench guy.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 02:18 AM) Brewers really make little sense here... He would just be a stop gap until until their CF prospect is ready apparently. And they don't have a CF on the current roster.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) This thread is about Cespedes. Stop bringing up other things. Have any insight for us today?
-
Has there even been any mention of us all day? Usually quiet is good when it comes to this team.
-
Take it for what it's worth, but an administrator on the "Chicago White Sox Territory" Facebook page says he knows someone close to organization that says we are still negotiating with him. He mentions it in the comments in the post about Matt Albers.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) I'm wondering if he got 5 year deal from the NATS, if he does why don't he sign it already. Only thing that keeps me a little optimistic.
-
This thread might get to 400 before he signs lol
-
QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) That's a good signing. Damn, would've liked him on the Sox as a platoon with LaRoche, Melky, Avi, etc. Agree. I think Raburn is still out there for that role.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Marc Topkin @TBTimes_Rays 2m2 minutes ago BREAKING: #Rays are close to signing Steve Pearce to a 1-year deal, just pending a physical. Would get DH at-bats, play 1B vs. LHP, some OF Great sign for them. Makes sense since they have Loney and Morrison at 1B/DH.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) lol same here. I've been addicted to this forum for a month now. I feel ya. Fortunately for me I mostly just follow at work. When I'm at home, I've just about had it staring at screens (phone, computer) all day. Haha

4 year deal with a 5th year vesting option or team option with a decent buyout. Sign him up.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) That's a good lineup, but where is Trea Turner? I thought he was their top prospect? Likely starting the year in the minors from everything I've read.
-
There was a suggestion where they either deal Revere again or play him a few times a week giving the injury plagued Werth more time off. Revere could also get into every game via double switch, pinch hitting, pinch running, defensive sub. Although I don't really know who would leadoff if they signed him and cut Revere's playing time (Murphy? Seems more like a #2 though). Potential Nats lineup: Murphy 2B Rendon 3B Harper RF Cespedes CF Zimmerman 1B Werth LF Ramos C Espinosa SS

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) So...do you guys think all the Nationals news is legit or BS? I tend to believe that they're trying drive the price up on the Mets, but who knows? I think they are legit interested.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Cespedes is going to get 100 million. Sox aren't signing him to a 3/100. This is purely my guess work. 2016: 18 million 2017: 22 million, Player opt out, 4 million buy out 2018: 23 million 2019: 25 million 2020: 27 million, vesting option on PAs If Cespedes stays health he gets 5 yrs 115 million and a 23 AAV. If he kills it for two years, he gets 22 AAV and another stab at the market. Have you heard anything at all from your inside source?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) Why would the Nats offer Upton only 3 years, but offer Cespedes more? Putting 2 and 2 together, there seems to be a lot of BS going on. Agree. You would think it would be switched around. I'm not buying anything unless it comes from rabbit or this comes from an official source: Cespedes agrees to deal with (insert team here)."
-
Please no Desmond. I'd rather keep the draft pick and go with Saladino using the saved money to add another outfielder and another arm (either SP, RP or both).
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) Who's gonna take Werth and that terrible contract? I think they trade Revere or make him a 4th outfielder while still getting him into games almost every day (keep in mind Werth isn't the picture of health these days).
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) That would be my disappointment, but if they move on to the next tier, I'm fine with that. Agree. As long as they still upgrade the team from now until Spring Training.
-
Anyone think this is going to get resolved today? This is getting annoying.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Mully is actually a huge Sox fan. Yeah Mully has just been upset with the team the past few years to the point where he's more pessimistic about the team. Same with Goff. I don't know if either Boers or Bernstein are/were Sox fans before.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) It's funny how these posts were made 5 minutes apart and yet they completely contradict each other. This entire saga is such a mystery and I just want it to be over. Agree. I want to move on so we can start talking about someone else. My preference if he signs somewhere else is Jackson and a right handed hitting bench bat (Pearce or Raburn) to platoon with LaRoche.
-
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) The fact that this is news just means that we a) really need some news b) really need the season to start and c) really can't stand Garcia This.
