  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) If Frazier were under team control for 3 years, maybe, but not for just 2. Every discussion has to start somewhere. Their GM wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't ask.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) They picked up Jed Lowrie to play 3B I think they picked him up to play 2B. Valencia at third.
  3. Just spent the last hour and a half taking an exam. Really thought something would have happened in that time.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) I'm going to need a lot of Bulls playoff basketball if we go that route. Months and months of it Seriously the Hawks and Bulls need to play until late June and the Bears would have to have an exciting offseason if that's the case. Granted I'm not as in to those sports as I am baseball but I'm just saying for the typical sports fan who is a Sox fan but also like those teams.
  5. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) I am on board with this plan, a lot of posters seem to think of only the extremes, either a complete tear-down or "going for it", but I like the idea of a one-year rebuild while looking to 2017 and 2018. And even if we make 2016 a rebuilding year there's still an outside shot to contend if we catch a few 2008-like breaks. Atlanta is doing a pretty solid rebuild that only started a year ago but they've basically traded everyone. They have to have the deepest farm right now (and they still have guys they can trade over the next 7 months).
  6. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) Susan SlusserVerified account ‏@susanslusser @MrJoeSiler not 100 percent complete yet but sounds like the important stuff agreed upon. Still ya never know. Important stuff?
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Moving LaRoche is inevitable to get Upton. They could try to back load it. Pay him less in 16 until Danks and LaRoche are gone.
  8. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) I keep reading from A's fans that Beane is going to "fleece" Hahn again like with Shark. My belief is that is not the case, I would take the first round draft pick over any of the four players that the Sox gave up. Thoughts? I've read comments from A's fans thinking they won't get anyone for him.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:52 AM) Nobody is going to trade for LaRoche. I'll repeat it every day this thread has life if necessary. Oh I know that. I just want this thread to die out.
  10. Everytime I see a recent post in here I get a little hopeful there is a "LaRoche to (insert team here) heating up" rumor out there.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) He still thinks trading for Freddy Garcia was stupid. That's all you really need to know. Yeah I've decided to not take him seriously anymore.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:27 AM) Supposedly MLB Radio said the Sox are giving up Engel, Thompson and Avi. I don't know this report to true so don't freak out but that would be steep. The probably meant one of them in a deal. If all three, we'd probably be getting something else back.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Imo, there's no denying that there's plenty of upside left in Lawrie. I'd like to see what he can do in a full season hitting at the Cell. And being off the turf should help him (it did last year).
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:20 AM) In '15 Lawrie had 6HR at home and 10HR on the road. I watched some highlights of him earlier and he can hit some absolute bombs. Looking at his 14 numbers, he had 12 homers in 70 games. If he had stayed healthy, who knows how many he could have hit.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) Garcia and Lawrie put up very similar power numbers last year. .257/13/59 for Garcia, .260/16/60 for Lawrie Difference is one played in a pitcher friendly ballpark. Looking at his Toronto numbers if he had stayed healthy it looks like he could have had some years where he did a lot more damage than he did.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:00 AM) Why do you always criticize other people's ideas, yet you never throw anything out there yourself? I don't get it. Oh he throws ideas out. They always involve trading Sale Q Abreu Eaton and playing Trayce "2 great weeks and mediocre minor league career" Thompson in center every day.
  17. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:33 AM) I don't think Oakland is ready to sell on Reddick. They likely want to keep him and contend in 2016. Unless they're getting Trayce, that doesn't make sense. Could see the Sox trying to get one of the A's many young, back of the rotation arms for some pitching depth. Yeah wasn't it reported that the Sox are looking for a right-handed starter before the Winter Meetings started?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) I wouldn't mind picking up Josh Reddick either, assuming they can extend him relatively cheaply. Even if they can't, I think he's a prime candidate to receive and reject a QO next off-season, which would be a worst case scenario (basically what I said about Samardzija last year if the team sucked haha unfortunately the worst case scenario happened) Though I'd rather try to extend first.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:27 AM) I think they want at least one player who could be ready in 2016, and neither of those will be, most likely. Also with Danish, since he had his first rough year in 2015, the Sox would be selling low. Good call, if OAK asked for more in prospects, Sox may be looking to offset. If the Sox are trying to get more back than just Lawrie, I see them aiming for Reddick as well.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) I don't see Danish/May/Beck/Guerrero having any future in the big leagues so I'm fine if they're the ones that will be traded. They may have a future in the big leagues but as of right now, 3 spots are locked down for the next 4 years. Sale (4 years of control left), Quintana (5 years), Rodon (6). And by the time they likely trade from this group they probably would have already drafted 2 more pitchers in the first rounds of drafts.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:21 AM) well as a fan of the sox, i am here waiting for the rest of this to unfold. what we know is lawrie is a sox, whether it is good or bad, that does not matter. it was a necessity that needed to be done. we all know why and at what failures of the past that lead us here. it is also here that we wait for that price to be mention. that price..... that too needed to be done, to be paid, we as fans may or may not like the price, it needed to be paid. this payment give the FO a little more time to continue to build this system, to find their replacement and not be under the gun of some kind. i will not rant if that price is too steep for me, but i am only a fan. what is next on the agenda.... who or what ever position is needed. remember next yr fa is pretty poor overall, i will demand here and now, that the sox look at next yr availability players and make and take that step now, to fix this team. this quasi 3-yr plan will hit a snag next yr, all for the sake of not making the necessary moves this yr. What I think they do next: sign a middle-infielder (Cabrera?) After: middle of the order bat
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:16 AM) This board b****es about everything. This is a solid move for this team. It improves defense and adds some pop for what will likely be a small cost. Yep. People b*tch just to b*tch.
  23. I'm guessing we get Lawrie, Padres get Matsuda and where does Freese go? It seems like most teams in the league have solid 3B or teams are committed to bad 3B due to contracts so I don't really know where to place everyone. Edit: I guess he'd probably to back to Angels. Also, a little off topic here, but that Justin Upton tweet mentioned the Sox were talking to multiple players with QO's attached. Does anyone know the market for Howie Kendrick? I'm not advocating signing him but I wouldn't put it past Sox management.
  24. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:08 AM) It's unclear who #WhiteSox would send to Oakland for Brett Lawrie. But OFs Avisail Garcia, Trayce Thompson, Adam Engel, Jacob May in talks. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/674575811496828928 Something like Avi and Beck for Lawrie (and maybe another piece?) would be fine with me. Opens up an OF spot for someone else and then Thompson can platoon and get at bats in the outfield with LaRoche making Melky DH against lefties.
  25. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 06:51 AM) Yeah Herrera telling him he's going to aim for his head next time he sees him...that was classy...god I hate the Royals *edit* Somebody should have told that 6 year old to stay back! She didnt know how unstable Lawrie is....
