QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) I think Jim Bowden said the 3 finalists thing today As for my opinion, Nats seem to be in to raise the price for the Mets While also screwing us.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) There's the key. Now if they could only manage to figure out how to do that two years in a row. Baby steps...let's first manage to get to ONE play off series at this point.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Am I absolutely lost at this point. There is some weird stuff going on in the White Sox media right now. I will say that. Any hints or clues as to what's going on?

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) great question. i was wondering if Hou with evan gattis... misspell being moved. i have been thinking of this since sunday. If the Orioles maybe move Trumbo to the outfield, then possibly them. Don't see any other fits however.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
I wonder where Alvarez is going to end up actually. Don't see any teams needing him.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) but my statement was not meant for the sox, it was, and if you go back, meant for any other team who looses out on upton and cespy..... other options..... and yes... at DH Makes sense for a team that misses out on them AND has an opening at DH. Alvarez does not play outfield.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Alvarez is a good hitter. He'd be an upgrade at DH. While probably true, LaRoche isn't going anywhere.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) Dude, he's not a good hitter. Low average and low on base. Where would you play him? He's not an OFer. Only thing he does is hit home runs. I'm with you. Good hitter or not, where does he play?

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
Where would the Nats play Cespedes if they got him? I guess they could try to move Revere but I thought he would leadoff for them. I don't really know who would if they dealt him.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) Hypothetically, if Cespedes' camp told the White Sox FO that they would accept a deal exactly like Upton's, would the Sox do it? Would you guys as fans be ok with it if they did? Cut a year or two off with likely a little bit higher AAV and I'd do it.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:24 AM) At least that way, the fans know that the team is going to be bad. Then the front office can stop selling false hope disguised as a baseball team. Personally, I think committing to a rebuild is the right thing to do. If you look around the league at the teams that have done that lately, they have themselves in a position to stay competitive for years to come. While I sort of agree with the rebuilding, this is Jerry we're talking about. The Sox are not going through a rebuild until Jerry is gone.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
There's gotta be a creative way to make a deal happen. Whether it's a signing bonus, a 5th or 6th year option worth around 7.5-10 mill, deferrals, a combo of all 3, we need to do something.

Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
Why do people still make a big deal about strike outs? Didn't Trout lead the league the year he was runner up MVP? It all depends on what you do with your other at bats.
-
Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) Time isn't the problem. One less suitor is a big plus though. I don't understand how people say these moves guarantee that another player will get paid closer to what he wants. Who's going to pay that? Less teams being seriously interested should hamper that.

Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) So the White Sox are now idiots because the Tigers signed Upton? Apparently. Everyone just needs to relax a little. There's one less suitor and still time to land Cespedes (or another upgrade).

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Giordano's needs to step up. That was actually before Davis signed I believe.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) This is funny . Was it wise to give Davis what he got ? Ian Kennedy ? It isn't wise to give many free agents long term contracts however that is what teams have been doing for years. Now all of a sudden everyone realizes its not fiscally responsible ? Very well said. Many guys out there don't deserve long term contracts but get them.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
I know people keep bringing up potential red flags for Cespedes, but does it seems like the fact that no one is connected to Upton more of a red flag?

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) The Score has been reporting that Cespedes is going to make a decision very soon on where he is going to sign. Where are they getting that from? Soon can mean this week which analysts were tweeting yesterday.
