QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 02:15 AM) The White Sox are good at ... being loyal to players and managers and front office people. The Sox are bad at ... having a sense of urgency about anything. I really truly don't think we're gonna ever get over .500 again for an extended period until we clean house. It's always "early." No need to panic. It's too early. Then every year we hit September and oh, yes, it's too late. September is a boring methodical funeral for the rest of the season. Don't worry, folks, it's early they said after going 0-4 to open the season. Oops. Give me some urgency!! We finish 10 under .500 and I sense Jerry and everybody are OK with this. Hey folks, the season sucked! The Sox are bad at...being loyal to their fans. As an owner, the first people you should be loyal to our your fans. You should be wanting to put the best team out on the field at all times with the best possible coaching staff.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) Astros over Royals in 4 Blue Jays over Rangers in 3 Cubs over Cardinals in 4 Mets over Dodgers in 5 Blue Jays over Astros in 6 Mets over Cubs in 7 Blue Jays over Mets in 5 Beyond popular belief of most people on here, this would be a fun series to watch/follow. The series of young arms vs. young bats.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 08:30 AM) You're not getting it. If Shuck was going to be in the lineup everyday, which he's not, he wouldn't be at DH. He would play in the outfield and one of Melky or Avi would DH. Playing Shuck at DH eliminates the ability to use him as a defensive substitute late in games. Agree. if Shuck were going to be in the lineup, Garcia/Melky would be the DH that day. When Thompson played for LaRoche, Thompson didn't DH. Him being in the lineup moved a lesser defensive guy to DH. Same would happen with Shuck.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) Probably would have to eat at least half his money, but not a bad idea. I do think the Sox need to be talking to the Dodgers. Their ability to absorb contracts puts a lot of things on the table. If they will take Danks or LaRoche or both in another deal, let them trade him to Pittsburgh. Puig for Q, LaRoche, and Danks. Decline Alexei's option and think about how much $$$ you have to play with. Yeah either try Alvarez for LaRoche + cash (Pirates seem to value some defense at first, LaRoche has already played there, and each only have a year left until free agency) or as mentioned: Quintana + LaRoche for Puig with Dodgers taking on all of LaRoche's one year remaining deal. I would prefer the deal with Pit and then moving Q for strictly MLB ready/productive bats however.
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) The thing with trading Quintana is your should get multiple top prospects back to fill multiple positions. The farm system is thin still and trading a bunch of prospects to get one bats is the wrong way of going. One bat is not going to fix the linup with to many holes. Plus those prospects listed are not going to get you a big bat that's needed. I know I kinda just tossed it out as an example because I don't see anyone from rotation getting dealt (again: unless its for a haul) nor Anderson or Fulmer getting dealt. Also free agency isn't very appealing so I don't see how we can make a lot of moves (what other people on here are predicting).

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) Jays 3-1. Be great if Stroman looks good What a shot in the arm it was getting him back after being out all season.

QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) Q: Do you think Erik Johnson could bring back one of the following: Marcell Ozuna Brad Miller Just tossing out ideas. I could see something like that. For a guy who may need a change of scenery.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) Too you I might be misinterpreting it myself, but I think he's saying your comment "it is an opinion" is a fact. Like we all have our own. Edit: just saw his above post, guess I was wrong lol

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) It's the same with Blackhawks fans, honestly. I'm wearing my Toews sweater right now, but I totally appreciate that our fanbase is bloated and mostly hockey garbage. lol that's true the Hawks fan base is a pile of garbage. I know there are fans out there that played a little hockey and loved the Hawks forever growing up but then there's the rest of the fanbase.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) I know some knowledgeable fans who aren't dicks and it'd be nice to see them win it for them. But my god, the amount of bandwagon Cubs fans and their total douchebaggery outweighs my desire to see my Cubs friends happy. Every fanbase of every sports team has knowledgable and douchebag fans.

Rally time. Let's see some fight

At the end of the day, it's really just a game. Nothing to get really upset about (unless you really have nothing going on in your life in which case I'm sorry for you haha)

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) I will never understand why a Sox fan would want Cubs to win. Basically the only thing the Sox franchise has over Cubs fans is a more recent title I mean I don't really care if they do or not. Just another of the other 29 teams that are not the Sox so its kinda whatever. I just watch and enjoy baseball.

I'm going Jays for this post-season. I guess my order is: 1. Jays 2. Astros 3. Mets 4. Royals (make our division look good) 5. Cubs (despite having some annoying friends, I do have some good friends that are big fan I wouldn't mind them winning for them. And my mom has always been a die-hard) 6. Rangers 7. Dodgers 8. Cardinals (I don't hate them but they've won enough)
-
Damn. Shoulda taken one or two more.
-
Pirates gotta take advantage.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) ??? Not a hard play due to his size I don't think he is trying to say that it was a hard play.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Unfair umpiring tonight and you won't hear a peep about it tomorrow unless you live in Pittsburgh. Yeah...why would you hear it anywhere else? To be fair, if Sox were in this position we wouldn't care or say anything or expect anything to be said. I have friends who like the Cubs that have been acknowledging it but what are you going to do? Not be excited the team they like is winning?
-
I have no problem with umps giving pitchers off the corners but it has to go the same way.
-
Man I miss the Sox being relevant. Though, they've only had what 3 playoff appearances since 2000?
-
This game is over

If they make any moves, I don't see them dealing anyone good from the MLB roster (maybe Q if they're blown away?). I would be ok dealing any prospect not named Fulmer or Anderson as I see any move that will be made to be more likely a quantity over quality deal. If we can get a bat for the price of Montas, Micah, Hawkins(, Michaelczewski if its a 3B back) I would pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) The Astros drafted so well they were able to pass on Kris Bryant and Carlos Rodon. Yeah imagine how good they would be if they had taken those two.

White Sox lowest rated TV Regional viewership in MLB.. 2015

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) It's amazing how Theo is great, Maddon is great, the Cubs, the Cubs, the Cubs... Theo was hired in December 2011. This is the first year since 2009 the Cubs have won as many games as the 2015 White Sox. Now, the future is promised. No chance of failure. They were 3rd in their division. Their lowest total attendance during this stretch would be top 5 all time for the White Sox. To be fair, Theo did come out and basically say at the time, we're gonna suck for 3-4 years so be patient. At least that front office had/has a plan and are on the same page.
