  1. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 07:56 AM) So if the Sox sign Upton, what is the likely scenario with Garcia? Do they trade him? Does he have options left to be sent down? He has one.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 07:53 AM) Yes. If ultimately they sign Upton and lose the pick, the Shark deadline "trade" would be for a very highly paid Justin Upton, which also gets Avi off the field. So even those still pissed Shark wasn't traded at the deadline would have to back down a bit. Yeah and it's not like we wouldn't lose a draft pick if we signed Upton after trading him. We would lose second round still.
  3. Take it for what's it's worth but Bruce Levine mentioned that Robertson is on the block.
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:52 AM) Are you really going to ignore the moves where Billy got surplus value? Come on. Adding Reddick will cost the Sox alot more. I'd love to have Reddick but over the summer supposedly Billy told Reddick he wasn't going anywhere so now where looking at over paying for Reddick to pry him away from Oakland. Reddick only has one year of control I believe and Beanies pretty random. Though I'd think they'd probably get a better deal from another team than from us.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) Indians and Tigers are rumored to have interest in Lawrie as well. Trading Lawrie is looking more like a classic Billy move where the A's get more than expected. I'm starting to wonder about this... Aim for Reddick as well and sweeten the deal.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 05:53 AM) A Winter Meetings catch-all you say? Well there would be multiple for the different days.
  7. The tweet implies they're talking to just more than Upton (it says talking to players with QO attached). I'd guess Upton (obviously), Desmond, Kendrick, Heyward.
  8. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Just curious... Who was the last hitting prospect the Sox actually developed? How many on the current projected roster? I think those answers should show that if KW/RH are to want to sign a guy like Upton & give up a pick that isn't even an original pick, why not do it? This team can't keep wasting this pitching to wait on hitters/position players they can't develop. Hey, I get it... This team is frustrating but I'm not going to fault them for adding talent to a needy roster. Not sure about the answer. Was Crede the best recent one? Or Magglio?
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) The bottom half of that lineup is still a black hole IMO. Yeah. It really sucks being in the position we're in. A nice core of like 5 guys, not enough resources to get more pieces to fit around it. It's be easier to say that we should rebuild if the core only had around 2 years of control left rather than the 4+ years.
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) Sign Upton, trade for Frazier, that lineup is gonna score some runs Eaton CF Cabrera LF/DH Abreu 1B Upton RF Frazier 3B LaRoche DH/Thompson LF Navarro/Avila C Saladino (maybe Ramirez) SS Sanchez 2B I'd still like to get a veteran at a middle infield spot (and one that can maybe hit in 2-spot).
  11. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) To contend? Not even close Exactly. I kinda just want to stay away from this. Yet I don't know what else they should do since I don't think they should rebuild (...yet).
  12. Would Upton, trading for Lawrie, re-signing Alexei be enough? It feels like we would still need to make one more addition to put us over the top. I already figure Thompson and LaRoche to platoon in any scenario (Thompson in OF, whichever OF needs a break at DH).
  13. If we're going to sign a power outfielder I'd rather sign Cespedes since we won't give up a draft pick.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) No. No. No. Please don't let this happen. I'd much prefer Cespedes or Heyward. Agree on both (though I don't even want Cespedes haha).
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit 7m7 minutes ago #WhiteSox talking to free agents with QOs attached. Upton is their prime target. Should be an interesting few days. There were rumors at the deadline that the Sox liked Upton. Oh no.
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) Yes ,I know ,I looked it up ahead of time. So are you making a point or just giving me facts ? Take a stand buddy. I value your opinion . What's your outlook on his worth in a trade. Will he be a successful ML starting pitcher ? Who knows.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) Based on what Cooper said, I don't think Micah Johnson will be with the organization in a week or two Personally I'm not as high on him as I used to be. Seems like the kind of guy who will always deal with injuries
  18. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) At least he took the blame. I think Samardzija and Coop we just not a good fit much in the same way Swisher and Walker couldn't work together. Yeah sometimes it just doesn't work out. Oh well, it's in the past now.
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) He can be traded as a player to be named later similar to how trea Turner was traded last season Wasn't there a minor change to that rule so that can't happen like that again? Like player to be named later has to be resolved sooner?
  20. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:03 PM) Yeah Trayce will play RF for Parra and then just take LaRoche's ab's from the DH position. Just gotta make sure you ensure he won't ever have to come up to hit if he is on base, have fun with that Robin! Lol
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) I'm assuming that Thompson would play against the lefties and Parra/LaRoche would play against the righties. Correct me if I'm wrong. Well Thompson can't play 2 positions in the starting lineup.
  22. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) I'm not sure myself so throwing it out there: If we were to trade for Frazier (not involving fullmer/anderson) and then sign 2 marginally priced free agents would we be legit contenders for at least a wild card spot? Say Gerrardo Parra and Asdrubal Cabrerra. C- Avila/Navarro 1b- Abreu 2b- Cabrerra 3b- Frazier ss- Saladino/sanchez lf- Melky cf- Eaton rf- Parra/Thompson dh- Laroche/Thompson Same rotation with EJ How does Thompson platoon with 2 guys in this scenario? Neither Parra not LaRoche should play against lefties.
  23. Dodgers also get pick number 36 as well.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Apparently this isn't official yet, though most scouts believe that he will in fact go to LA. It is now official.
