  1. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:32 AM) "Sox trade talks heating up." "Brett Lawrie." Haha yeah this doesn't solve the hole in the middle of the order but it helps.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:27 AM) Obviously he thought whatever she said about/to him was a big enough deal that the took the time digitally put his fingers in his ears and yell "LALALALALALA" when she talks about him. I mean, it's whatever. I don't automatically love players because they are on my favorite team. I try to avoid being a homer in that sense. But I realize the same people who hated Samardzija on the Cubs, and then loved him on the Sox, then hated him again once he left will be the same people to fall in love with someone like Lawrie because he plays for their favorite team. Not for me. So if he comes here you don't want to root for him to do good? You'd prefer he suck and we don't win games?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:17 AM) I'd rather have Frazier even though NL players tend to really really suck in the AL. Ugh. Please let it be two lousy minor leaguers. Lawrie is NOT WORTH any of our halfway decent prospects. He's just not. Frazier would be the best option but many on here would not like what we would give up.
  4. Gonna guess Jaye is one since he was left off 40 man and is eligible to be taken in Rule 5 draft and looking at his numbers from last year might get taken and stashed in someone's bullpen for a year. Maybe Beck as other one? I can live with Jaye and Beck for Lawrie.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) This quote.. "The clashes continued into the Brewers’ system, where Brett chafed. He said he felt the organization wasn’t going to challenge him, and planned on moving him up the minor-league ladder rung by rung. This from a player who considered himself major-league ready. There was no line of communication to Brewers general manager Doug Melvin, a Canadian, and Lawrie refused to participate in instructional league. Lawrie said he didn’t feel he had a support system, and his parents said he was unappreciated. One day, a Milwaukee minor-league instructor was giving Lawrie a talk about how minor-league players are nothing special until they reach the big leagues, when the prodigy turned to his coach, pointed at every teammate and said: “I’m better than him, him, him, etc … ”" These google results... https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrom...t+Lawrie+douche And then there was one quote a few years ago when he was a minor leaguer and he said something about being pissed that he wasn't called up yet, saying he says when he is ready, not their GM. So stuff that's probably been at least 3 or more years ago?
  6. Frazier would cost too much in prospects. Matsuda is unknown and wants 4 years. Freese probably gets close to 3/30. We probably give up very little to get Lawrie.
  7. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) What did lawrie do that makes him a douche? I recall one time he slammed his helmet down and it accidentally hit an ump but other than that I have no clue. I haven't seen anything that I can recall.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:03 AM) Tell me why you like Lawrie and would OK giving up good prospects for him. Just curious. IMO the ONLY thing he has going for him is his age. We don't know if it will take good prospects so we can't comment on that until a deal is official and we know.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:01 AM) I may be a Neg Nancy but I studied his stats, coupled with his still very-young age and status as a No. 1 draft pick before posting. It's reasonable after such a study to conclude he's the A's version of Avi - a guy probably worth giving up on. I mean, yeah, it's possible he could emerge (former first-round pick Beckham never did) but it's also possible he blows. Yeah if we only have to give up a couple non prospects, but I'm thinking the A's will go for blood and steal some "good" sox players for this bust (so far). I kinda feel like he will hit a bit better in our ballpark compared to Oakland and as long as he stays healthy.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 11:50 PM) How would people feel about an Avi-Lawrie swap? I assume good Yeah I just don't see why they would want Avi unless they planned on dealing Reddick.
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 11:47 PM) I hope that big league source is a dirty liar. Why do I have a sinking feeling that we will be seeing a Lawrie for Adams swap? or Lawrie for Danish and Trey? I'm thinking A's want an MLB ready pitcher. I'm thinking a Johnson for Lawrie swap is probably what it will be.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 11:33 PM) boring two days for White Sox fans Yep.
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) It isn't San Diego like last year where a bunch when down late. I hope I am wrong It doesn't matter. There are always deals that happen over night at the winter meetings every year.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) I think we will see Sox sign asdrubal cabrera and Matsuda and be done lol Lol hello 4th place...
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) Great haul, but they already had one of the best offensives in baseball, and didn't move any of it to get a #1 and #2 starter. Inciarte was a part of it.
  16. I actually really am a fan of what the Braves have done over the past year.
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Hearing from multiple sources Ender Inciarte, Aaron Blair and Dansby Swanson are involved in the Shelby Miller deal. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/674399598451023873 Wow I thinks that's a good haul.
  18. Man I want the sox to get in on the fun!
  19. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) They basically traded Castro for Zobrist. My guess is they still add an outfielder. And a mid-rotation starter I think.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) Baez Nah. With upside like that you start him, trade him, or play him in minors. Especially since he's still young. I bet he gets traded though.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) That trade literally makes no sense for the Cubs... Cahill is better than Warren, so Warren is useless, and why would they acquire another infielder if they just traded one away and signed another one? I don't get it. I don't think they had a backup infielder. Ryan is a solid backup with plus defense.
  22. Everyone on here has been hating on Castro for the past few months saying he has no value and now everyone thinks he's a good player? I don't get it.
  23. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 06:59 PM) I don't think I'd be thrilled with this if I were a Cub fan. I like it from here, though. My Cubs fans friends aren't thrilled at all.
  24. Yay no more Castro for Quintana suggestions.
