White Sox lowest rated TV Regional viewership in MLB.. 2015
Bob Sacamano replied to captain54's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) 15th in payroll 20th in record 26th in attendance 30th in TV ratings Sounds like we deserve a competitive balance pick.... -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) Barry Davis @SNBarryDavis 20h20 hours ago Buehrle finds it funny how many people have already reported that he's retiring. That decision won't be made until off season. #bluejays lol I literally thought this at one point yesterday. I have yet to see any quote from Buehrle that says he is retiring. I wouldn't be surprised if he pitches one more year with the Sox or Cardinals.

They definitely aren't going to rebuild. I think they will finally fill that hole at third with a good solution. It's been a revolving door since Crede left.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) LOL. Completely agree. Not happening. Think more along the lines of Ben Zobrist and possible trades. Agree. What does everyone think it would take to get Longoria? Danish, Montas, Anderson, Michaelczewski? The only way I'd deal someone like Anderson was if it was for someone with lots of control left -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) I would love to see Puig as a White Sox. It's the one Caulfield obsession that actually makes sense. Yep. Stick him in RF. I just don't know what they would do with Avi. Deal him somewhere for another young player who has struggled a bit (either a pitcher or infielder)?
-
What about Puig + pitching prospect for Quintana? I love Q, but the team needs hitting but I think he is more valuable than Puig so I'd like for them to grab a prospect in a deal with the Dodgers.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) I don't understand the keen interest in Heyward. This team desperately needs another power hitter. The Sox don't need another outfielder. Cabrera, Eaton and Thompson/Garcia should have the outfield covered. Spending all that money on a guy who hit about the same as Eaton, in what was the best year of his career, makes no sense to me. Why not go after someone like Chris Davis, if the front office was really to spend that kind of money? Where is Davis going to play? Abreu is at first and LaRoche will be the DH.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) Kinda funny how many people including here said why did the Rangers get Hamels at the deadline when they were 50-52. This is why Just imagine when they have Darvish back next season...and pretty amazing that Angels are paying all that money for Hamilton to beat them. Rangers are paying what $4 mill over next 2 seasons? Didn't Beckham just make $2 mill this year? lol

White Sox have worked out Eddy Julio Martinez twice or more

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) Yes. IIRC, they were under $500k left before they hit the penalty phase and lost out on two years worth of signings. Well good then. Let's all hope they come out guns blazin next July. -

I'm just curious here, but if the Sox spent the $2.5 (or a little higher to get him like 2.6), would that have put them over their limit for this year where they would be penalized? -
I'm completely open to giving Heyward a 7/8 year deal with an opt-out clause after year 4 when he is 30 to give him a chance at another contract. With that that kind of contract, could they possibly backload it? If he opts out, that probably means he worked out well for us.
-
Assuming Garcia and LaRoche are back next year, Trayce will be the righty part of a platoon with LaRoche with Avi/Garcia getting some DH at bats (at least, starting off that way. If he hits and takes a job away, that role could be Avi's at some point).

That ending....wow

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Sox lineup https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/650396984038268928 Fancy handwriting. Wow...Avi officially down to 7th behind the third catcher Brantly lol

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) ...and now it's 11-10, Angels. Unreal. Hell of a game

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) One thing just came to mind... I could really see the team making a QO to Samardjiza, who then walks. Then a trade of Quintana for their cornerstone 3B or C, plus a lot more pieces. Then the coup de grace... The re-signing of Mark Buehrle. I'm for that on a multi-year deal (he slides into 5 spot when Danks is gone in 2017) assuming he doesn't get a QO. If he receives one, pass.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 07:51 AM) I don't care about the fact that the pick is protected. I just want to pick as high as possible. I'd rather the Sox not sign anyone with a QO attached regardless of where they pick. "High as possible" at this point is 8th I believe. I'm going Sunday so I'd like for them to be 1.5 games ahead of Detroit so it doesn't matter that I see a win or not. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) i just want, for my selfish reason, to get the protected 10 and show to the rest of the sox fans that they will not sign what is needed ..... instead they MAY go and get another retread. I don't think they will sign anyone either, but I like for them to be able to give up a second round pick instead of a first if they decided to surprise everyone. -
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) The 1964 sox won 99 games with tremendous pitching and hardly any hitting. Maybe that could work again. We're gonna need to focus on defense first than before hitting.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) Park factor accounts for the quality of your pitching and offense though. Exactly my point. It may seem unfriendly but that is more of the quality of our staff and lineup.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) The Cell isn't as big a hitters park as you think, good for HR but not much else. Played middle of the pack this year for offense. Dimension wise it is small. Factor could be our pitching staff despite Shark and our anemic offense.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 05:50 PM) for discussion sake, at what cost for a 1 yr contract. I'd probably go as high as ten to try to entice him. Or less with incentives. Sounds like a lot but it would just be a one year deal. I also figure they will bring Alexei back cheap and after this year they no longer pay Jeff Keppinger, which was 4.5 each year for last 3.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) I can squint and see a scenario where Wieters takes a one year deal to try to go back out in 2016 looking for a home run on the free agent market. That is a pretty typical Boras tactic. Agree. Boras clients have done this before. What better place to rebuild value as a hitter than the cell? If he doesn't get a QO, I'd offer him a one-year deal if he's willing to take a deal like that to rebuild value to try again next off-season.
-
At the very least he'd be moved to left and Thompson would play center with Garcia or Cabrera in right (I use "or" because who knows if they keep Avi or not or move Melky to DH if they just dumped LaRoche).
-
Correct me if I'm wrong (don't know where to really look for this) but in the years Heyward struggled with the bat, wasn't he always positive WAR-wise due to his great defense? (I also know that WAR isn't the end all be all)
