  1. If their prices come down enough and there is low interest, it's likely other teams would jump in.
  2. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) I understand your rationale in using Avi as La Roche's platoon partner, and I think that he would perform adequately. My preference for sending him to Charlotte is for his benefit. He would get much more playing time there, than he would just facing LH pitching, and DH'ing. He really needs to develop both his hitting and fielding, which he can better do playing every day. Agree. Let him work in left field and DH at Charlotte and in the event that LaRoche is terrible, release him and call up Avi.
  3. For what it's worth, I'd rather go with Saladino/Sanchez and one of the big 3 OF than Alexei or Desmond or Rollins and Avi.
  4. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 12:32 AM) Is there any news on either of these guys? Have the White Sox been connected to either in any significant way? Are either of them nearing a deal? Mostly just speculation at this point. Doesn't look like much of a market for any since the big spenders aren't looking to spend on outfielders. If we land one at significantly less than what they were projected to get, I'll be thrilled. I'm in the Cespedes camp however.
  5. Send Avi to Triple A and work him in left field and to get every day at bats. If LaRoche looks awful after a month or two into the season, cut bait and call Avi up to DH and get work in the outfield.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 12:23 AM) Iwakuma back in Seattle on a one year deal with two years of vesting options. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/mari...hi-iwakuma.html Lmao, the Dodgers are not having a good off season as far as pitching is concerned. Damn. That doesn't move our comp pick up. What is there, 9 guys with QOs that need to sign still?
  7. I don't understand what people mean when they say we would weaken a rival by taking their guy. He's not there now and I don't think the Royals are making much of an effort to keep him.
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) Upton's Career Stats are remarkably consistent. Even his Inter-League numbers are very close to his performance against N. L. teams. The guy seems to hit righties and lefties about the same, whether at home, or on the road. Even where he bats in the lineup has had very little effect. All of that is very reassuring, especially regarding the concerns that some of us have expressed about acquiring National League players. If we could put him in the heart of the order and just pencil in his career numbers of .271 .352 .473 .825, the Sox really could be ready to compete for a couple of Post Season runs. Nice info. Well done.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 05:34 PM) I can't tell if Bucket is serious or if he was just stating something vague and obvious. He's so cool. I don't think he was serious.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) Quick question, if the Mets miss out on a big OF, I wonder if we can somehow pull off a trade for Zack Wheeler. Turning 26 and coming off TJ, not much room for him in that rotation. Who are you thinking they would want? I think they're still really high on him over there.
  11. I'd be fine with Raburn on a minor league deal with a chance to be a platoon partner with LaRoche.
  12. They can make a big bat fit. Close to 30 mill of LaRoche and Danks off the books after this season can make it happen.
  13. It's amazing that the chances of maybe getting Upton is realistic now.
  14. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) I'm scared of dishing out a 5+ year deal to ANY player. Depends on the dollars and term of course, but Gordon might make the most sense overall on a 4-5 year deal I'd be ok with Cespedes on 4/5 years. He may get more depending on how many and who is involved.
  15. What about Upton at 7 years with an opt out year 4 when he's 32? Can try to get 4 or 5 guaranteed years instead of the 3 left on his deal.
  16. I bet they add Upton or Cespedes now. Ethier not being in the deal makes it better.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Worth its own thread Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 4s4 seconds ago Source: Dodgers, White Sox nearing a trade. Top pitching prospect Frankie Montas is going to Los Angeles, so it could be pretty big. "Hold onto your butts."
  18. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 4s4 seconds ago Source: Dodgers, White Sox nearing a trade. Top pitching prospect Frankie Montas is going to Los Angeles, so it could be pretty big. WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA Some news!
  19. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) They get a pick when they lose him in 2 years, assuming the CBA does not change much. I think he knows that. I think he's saying it makes no sense to lose a draft pick for a guy here for two years.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) He has already filed one. He doesn't need to wait until next year. Haha I'm not even seeing where he lost 2 years of service time. Edit: unless he's talking about the possibility of Bryant getting called up late in 2014 which would still be inaccurate. They'd have him for remainder of 14 plus 6 years.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Seems like they piggybacked Kaplan Don't see how it's any different than any other site that cites a reference (in this case a tweet). That's all mlbtr is.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) He's getting 78 million for first three years....holy overpay Guess when you have the payroll space that's what happens.
  23. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) Rosenthal's latest blurb: http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/price-h...osenthal-121515 "WHY WHITE SOX MIGHT BALK AT FRAZIER Frazier certainly is a fit at third base and in the middle of the lineup for the White Sox; newly acquired Brett Lawrie could move to second, giving the Sox upgrades at two positions. The problem is, the Reds want significant prospects for two years of Frazier, and the White Sox's system remains relatively thin. Better the team should explore the open market -- if it can find the right solution. A free agent such as second baseman Howie Kendrick would cost the Sox a second-round draft pick; their first-round pick, No. 10 overall, is protected. But Kendrick also has turned down $15.8 million from the Dodgers, and at 32 soon could enter his decline phase. Third baseman David Freese might make more sense -- he probably would be more affordable than Kendrick and the Angels did not make him a qualifying offer, removing the additional cost of a pick." I'm thinking the Freese scenario is most likely. Sign Freese and Cespedes, keep draft picks and prospects.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) The Braves want to dump Markakis and might send prospects along with to sweeten the pot or subsidize the remaining $31.5 million due over three years... That deal never made sense for them. They should have signed Aoki or anyone else instead.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Looking at the Kimbrel and Miller trades, are they really that insane? This. You have to at least ask.
