QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) I like that Saladino has finally gotten his chance. He was ok today. I'm hoping that he can stick and Bonifacio gets released. I liked the Bonifacio acquisition but he has been brutal. He's been a good clubhouse guy, I understand, but well.....we need more than good cheer from him. Personally, I like Bonifacio's speed off the bench. I'd prefer Beckham or Gillaspie to be dfa'd first. Or Sanchez sent down.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) Not so sure about the Astros willingness to trade Santiago since Rasmus will be gone after this season. It's why I have been looking at other players in their system but I could be wrong. Baez could be interesting if he could learn to play 3B for the Sox but can anyone see the cubs having interest in Samardzija? Sure. Anyone else they may be interested in could potentially cost more

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 07:36 AM) Cards now have Dan Johnson at first. Lol guy is a game 162 legend. But seriously, I think the only way they take LaRoche is if the Cards think they can move him in the off-season.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 01:04 AM) I know how much you guys love Bleacher Report but they recently listed each teams mostly likely to move prospect so I'll give a recap. Orioles : Chance Sisco ,20 yrs old, Catcher ,currently playing at High A. LH Cubs: Javier Baez , 22 ,SS and 2nd base ,AAA having a good season there. Huge power. RH Astros: Domingo Santana , 22 ,OF , AAA having a very good season .Nice power , good walk rate, RH Angels : Nick Tropeano ,24 ,Pitcher ,AAA ,RH Dodgers : Jose DeLeon, 22, A+/AA Pitcher ,RH Mets: Marcus Molina 20 , Pitcher, A+ , RH Yankees: 22 , 1B , AA/AAA LH Pirates Alen Hanson, 22 ,Middle Inf. , AAA ,Very fast ,high MiL BA , decent power, strong arm Giants : Kyle Crick ,22 ,Pitcher ,AA, RH 6'4" 220 ,hard thrower These are just some of the names I thought were interesting. Puposely didnt include teams in the Sox division. Just don't see them trading inter -divisionally. Domingo Santana please

Posted this in another thread, but once Shark and maybe a few bench pieces are moved, I think both Johnsons will be up. my predictions: Shark traded for prospect(s); E. Johnson comes up Beckham, Soto, Bonifacio traded for PTBNL or cash (this month or next through waivers); replaced by Micah who takes over at second (or Sanchez sent down in favor of more versatile L. Garcia), Kottaras who comes up to be backup C, and Davidson to platoon or get a good long look at at third. Possible but unlikely: LaRoche to Cards or Angels for prospect(s); Gillaspie, Garcia, Melky, Abreu then get at bats between (DH/1B/OF) with Thompson coming up to play left/right. I don't consider this "dismantling" the team like Hahn and KW said they wouldn't do.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) I share everyone's frustration with the second base situation, but I feel that sending Micah down helped him and he will be a better player next year for it. Yeah I'm not upset or frustrated either. I just believe once they officially become sellers/more open to trading guys he will probably just come up and learn at the MLB level.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Micah homered in his last AB. 4/6, HR, SB. He is hitting .309. His OBP is around .370. I wonder when Hahn is ready to sacrifice some defense at one of the least important defensive positions on the field for some MUCH MUCH MUCH needed offense and energy. Even if Hahn is ready to call his season over, I'd rather have Micah learn defense at the major league level than Sanchez learn hitting a the major league level. Once they trade Shark and possible few other bench guys, I think he will be back up. Deals I think will/could happen: Shark for prospect(s); replaced in rotation by Johnson. Soto traded for PTBNL; replaced by Kottaras (or prospect MLB level C potentially acquired in Shark deal) Bonifacio for PTBNL or cash; replaced by Johnson (Sanchez moves to bench or sent down in favor of more Versatile L. Garcia) Beckham for PTBNL; replaced by Davidson

QUOTE (BigFinn @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) I've been flipping through the mlb pipeline website for prospects among the contending teams in the #3 to #5 range, and boy is it slim pickings. The Yankees top 5 prospects: #1 Luis Severino, an undersized 2-pitch pitcher #2 Aaron Judge, a 6'7" RF who has a lot of power with a lot of swing and miss #3 Jorge Mateo, a 20 year old shortstop in the Sally League who may have to move off short because of a weak arm #4 Greg Bird, a defensively challenged first baseman #5 Robert Refsnyder, a defensively challenged second baseman How about Houston: #1 Carlos Correa, SS, he's not going anywhere #2 Mark Appel, RHP, he's not going anywhere #3 Domingo Santana, he's a .300 hitting outfielder with some swing and miss problems #4 Vincent Velazquez, RHP, he's not going anywhere #5 Michael Feliz, RHP, I doubt that he's going anywhere The Dodgers (say it like Vin Scully): #1 Corey Seager, SS, will not be traded in a Samardzija deal #2 Julio Urias, LHP, probably will not be traded in a Samardzija deal #3 Grant Holmes, RHP, pitching in the Midwest League #4 Jose DeLeon, RHP, pitching at AA Tulsa, intriguing, fastball-slider-change. He's been a wee bit tateriffic since his promotion #5 Alex Verdugo, OF, playing in the Midwest League Three contenders, one intriguing prospect. That's not to say that Corey Seager isn't intriguing, but he won't be coming over in a trade for Samardzija. Toronto is looking like a good trading partner for the Shark. To be fair, Houston's system is deep so if you even grabbed someone in 6-10 range it would probably be a good deal.

**7/7 Tad less epic game Thread! Sox vs Jays**
Bob Sacamano replied to Brian's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) I like the Melky that has suddenly remembered how to hit. Closing in on .270 I think it's time to put him back in 2-spot -
QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) That would require at least 2 men on base which is a rare sight for us Hitting homeruns is also pretty rare for us

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Yes, because Chris Sale should be put ahead of the team, and the Sox should throw Jose Quintana out there with short rest, risking injury among other things, so Sale gets a shot at the record. T Actually, Q would be on 4 days rest which would be pretty normal rest. Not short -
http://sportsmockery.com/2015/07/a-yasiel-...nd-the-dodgers/ While I wouldn't be opposed to us grabbing Puig, the proposed deal is very ridiculous of Shark, Q and prospects. Now if they wanted to just get rid of him and take half a season of Shark? I think i'd do it. Edit: if a mod can change the "what" in the title to "why".

Thread from 2015: White Sox sign Carson Fulmer
Bob Sacamano replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Willing to bet Fulmer is #15 when he eventually gets promoted (unless the Sox sign someone in the off-season who would wear 15). -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) We all would. Pentecost's stock has dipped since draft day, though, so he may actually be a realistic target. Hoffman has had helium. Maybe Pentecost plus someone else.

Who do you want to see replace Robin as manager of the Sox?
Bob Sacamano replied to Boopa1219's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Doesn't matter what we want. It's probably going to be Thome or Konerko. Team needs a new owner. -
These won't stopping popping up until the Sox are good and relevant again. If the Cardinals want to deal for Quintana, i'd definitely listen to what they had to say.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) If he ever hits one for the White Sox, I will call this a victory. Come on, man. It was a nod to his dad who is the only player ever to hit two grand slams in one inning off the same pitcher.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Let me ask this then.... When is the last time we signed or traded for someone and trade evaluators commented "he has the ability to be a Gold Glove-level defender"? Rondon? Trayce Thompson...? When's the last time we've taken an average or below average fielder and he became close to great? Robin Ventura? I'd argue that Joe Crede was a pretty great defender.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) Lets complain about 16-18 year old prospects before they even enter the system! Lol all 16-18 year old prospects are all like likely defensively challenged.

Royals fan/writer wants them to get Quintana
Bob Sacamano replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) The other issue that Quintana would become the Royals' ace. So in that sense, one might demand and ace's price. Royals have a horrible rotation. Their pen is great, but might succumb to the pressure and over-work. Wouldn't surprise me if the Twins take this division. Meanwhile, Royals look like a team to do business with. Also, trading a great pitcher within division should drive price up. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) Per Jesse Sanchez, Sox have (so far) signed Franklin Reyes for $1.5M, and Fernando Tatis Jr for $700k. Reports on Future Sox coming soon. Lets grab Martinez or Guerrero Jr and I'll be happy. Edit: also, Dodgers sign Alvarez for $16 mill and a few others for around $2 mill. Were only slotted for $2 mill to spend. They have to figure out a way to fix this system.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Davidson walked his first AB. Respectable OBP. Hopefully he'll be up soon. Even if he sucks, let him play for a while. I think if they end up moving Beckham or LaRoche he'll be up.

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
Bob Sacamano replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) Once you hire Ozzie, you're not letting him go, he's in it for the long run Hire Sandy Alomar Jr or Dave Martinez or someone else then. Try to bring Omar Vizquel in in the off-season as a bench coach and to work with young infielders on defense (they gotta be friends from Indians days right?). -
More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
Bob Sacamano replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) About f***ing time someone has said this, Ozzie left on miserable terms but he's ready for managing White Sox baseball again and I'm ready for Ozzie ball, Ozzie is a proven fiery winner with the desire to win, Robin comes off as a NyQuil addict who belongs back on his Malibu deck, Robin knows he doesn't want to be here Just a suggestion for Ozzie, Jim Thome would make an awesome hitting coach, he already worked with Trayce Thompson in the Spring and he's seem to done wonders Throw in another White Sox employee as well: Aaron Rowand Ozzie, Coop, Thome, and Crash would provide some South Side excitement...finally, and hopefully a winning culture immediately, World Series Champs 2016 1. Fire Robin 2. Hire Ozzie as interim manager (who really cares about the rest of this year 3. Hire Sandy Almost Jr. in the off-season if not sooner -
Mlbtr posted about how the Astros are going to have 40-man roster problems in the off-season again and that can help motivate them to make a couple of trades for starting pitching.
