  1. Hedges was promoted by the Padres while Derek Norris himself is doing well. Maybe the Padres are trying to showcase him for a potential June/July deal? If Alexei starts hitting between now and then, perhaps we can see a deal with Alexei and Hedges as the base with other moving pieces since the Padres will likely be buyers.
  2. Beckham if a team wants a platoon infielder or bench depth
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) everyone besides Abreu and Rodon should be available for the right price I would add Sale to the list and probably Q.
  4. At this point, I'm hoping guys like Samardzija, Danks, Ramirez, Cabrera, LaRoche and Beckham (as a bench depth option for a team) make themselves look attractive to teams from now until 7/31. Try again this off season.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) Overreaction how? This team was not built this offseason to "possibly" lose 3 in a row on the road to the Twins. Overreacting to Rodon I mean
  6. So do people think Rodon will get the spot start when our guys serve theur suspensions? I think it will be Carroll personally. Rodon I think goes back down to get stretched out when Guerra and Albers are back. Lots of overreaction in this thread.
  7. PA: 85 H: 21 HR: 5 XBH: 10 RBI: 15 BB: 5 K: 24 AVG: .269 OBP: .329 SLG: .526
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 11:58 PM) the sox can't afford to take a chance that this was a hot streak. lets not put him into a position that if he fails, you may ruin his confidence. lets give him several more weeks and address the question again. is he ready to go to the next level?? Agree. I say give it til June 1
  9. Have to play the guys who are hot. Play Beckham until he cools down.
  10. McCarthy out for season now. Between him, Ryu and Anderson's consistent dl record, maybe they could use a Danks at some point.
  11. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) That Orioles lineup is GARBAGE. Holy s***, I thought the Sox had some problems. Definitely helps that Wieters and Hardy are both on the dl. Edit: along with Schoop had a nice start to the season.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 08:39 AM) Please let's stop using ballpark factor as if it is meaningful in 2 weeks' worth of games. The effect isn't even all that huge over a full season, let alone such a short sample. Agreed. It's like saying we should be worried about the guys on our MLB team who 0-1 homers. The Cell is very hitter friendly.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) I just have a question on callups when Sale and Shark are suspended. Can you actually bring two pitchers up for five days without placing folks on the disabled list? This is not a paternity leave type thing. I thought if they were suspended the team just played shorthanded I don't think they will serve them at the same time.
  14. 14 games in: PA: 57 H: 14 HR: 3 XBH: 5 RBI: 7 BB: 4 K: 17 AVG: .275 OBP: .351 SLG: .490 Obviously a small sample size but a bit of an encouraging start (minus the K's)
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) What's annoying is Rodon wasn't ready yet for the majors I agree with this. Would have liked to have seen him down longer.
  16. Step 1: sign Quentin to minor league deal Step 2: release Bonifacio at some point Step 3: platoon LaRoche/Quentin Step 4: profit
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) Honestly, those numbers are pretty terrible when you consider the bandbox that is his home park. I have zero faith he'll ever become a big leaguer let alone a starter. To be fair, he likely hasn't played all those games at home.
  18. Ten games in: PA: 41 H: 10 HR: 2 XBH: 3 BB: 2 K: 14 AVG: .256 OBP: .293 SLG: .436 Definitely needs to cut down on the k's and walk more
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) I'll put this here too... a couple things. First, saw Lakso comment that Davidson is going center and oppo a lot more often now. Second, the defense at 3B has apparently improved quite a bit, saw it a bit myself on MiLB.tv, and also multiple people commenting on it. For what those are worth. Our defense at third isn't anything special anyway so if he can field a little bit and hit the way everyone expected him to, everyone here would take it.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 06:58 AM) The average getting up to a respectable level is a start. Needs to increase the BB% and decrease the K% though. Would love to see him rake and start taking walks over the next month or two.
  21. This might as well just become the Matt Davidson watch thread. If he can get hot, he can find his way onto the MLB team as Connor doesn't really seem like a guy who should/would block him.
  22. AJ Pierzynski for manager. This team lost a ton of personality when he left.
  23. I personally like capping his innings by having him see time in the pen as opposed to skipping him here and there and/or going with a 6-man rotation.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) Eh, the Sox aren't really in a position (and many teams aren't) where you're gonna have a ton of arb eligible guys coming through the system and thus rising costs of your core roster have to get big raises. They bought out Jose, Sale, Eaton, Q's arb years already and those are the guys that could have gotten quite pricey. You've got Rodon up for super 2 what else? Avi might get pricey but if he plays that well they will probably sign him long term anyways. Danks will be coming off the books, possibly Ramirez as well. I'm not really seeing much of a budget problem and in fact there should be money available to replace those guys if they so choose. The real key will be if Anderson can replace Ramirez in house. If he can, that lifts the entire roster's outlook. MLB 2.0-4.0 WAR SSs certainly don't grow on trees. Jose can actually opt to go through arbitration after his third year. Same thing happened with Alexei in his first deal.
