  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) I think everyone agrees on this but I am not certain this move makes them all that much better if this is their added arm. Don't think they're done personally.
  2. Yeah the system is deep enough. They can spare a draft pick this year.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) Long time Sox 3B target for many Soxtalkers. His prospect star has faded, but is still only 24. Played mainly LF last year, so must not be much of a 3B. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox take a gamble. Pass
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) The Cubs may very well add a number 2-3 SP via a trade as well. Which will make this signing look even better. Agree. I think they go into Spring Training with one of: Ross, Salazar, Miller or Carrasco who are good still young right handed starters.
  5. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/status/672902473951158272 Yay I can update my signature.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) The average AL catcher hit .231 with a .294 OBP in 2015. The line you posted would be just slightly below that average. This lineup can't afford that though I think is his point. It'd be different if this lineup was any good but it's not.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) It was after he had a bad game IIRC. Either way, blocking me after I said my opinion that had literally nothing to do with them seemed childish. Yeah that's dumb.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) It seems like most Sox fans on Twitter are so sensitive and uptight about everything. A person on there blocked me because I called Nate Jones mediocre...lol. He's definitely better than mediocre. Injuries have killed him the past 2 seasons however.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Sounds like Cubs might be going the hardest after Lackey. I don't think that would be a great fit for them. I think it's decent for them depending on the annual salary. It won't be much and could help them sign Heyward if they choose to go after him. But if it's more than 2 years that can be bad. Granted, if I were them, I wouldn't want to give up a first round draft pick for him either.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) My god. Haha its OK man. Friday's here.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) So if trading the prospect is bad on paper, trading FOR the prospect would be good on paper. Selling high on Jeremy Reed wasn't a mistake. You eventually will figure that out. Jesus I can't believe people say it was a bad trade to this day lol that trade was part of the reason why we won a f*cking World Series.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) ethier and eating laroche contract and taking laroche with no where to play him except for b/u for Q. i am just thinking that is what the dodger may want to do. am i for it, no freaking way. They may want that, but that doesn't mean the Sox would agree to it.
  13. They'll likely bring in another guy on a minor league deal to compete as well. And to just keep in the minors.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Four letter first and last-names have done well on sox, fyi. Jose Abreu, Joey Cora. Good sign, imo. Abreu is 5 letters...
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Probably the same thing as all the tweets. He pretty much sticks to the script. Yep stuff we already know.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Rotation? What? What about EJ or Danks? They're not just going to hand the job to them. Competition is a good thing.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) If anyone can provide of summary what Hahn says, it would be greatly appreciated. I will not be able to listen to it at that time. This
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) How about LaRoche and Danks for them? Unfair for us. A's need to throw in Sonny Gray.
  19. What about a splash of Lawrie+Reddick? Don't know what we would send over there but I believe both have 2 years remaining.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) I'd freak out about that Q trade. In a good or bad way? I don't know anything about the players besides Turner.
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:52 AM) Clever again. Sure I do. I've never suggested trading for him though. Would I take the 4 we traded over the comp pick? In a heartbeat. I'd take Lawrie. Just don't want to trade much talent for Lawrie. We got Ynoa too who I think will be a good bullpen piece which will likely cancel out Bassitt (as I think he ultimately ends up there).
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) I like Lawrie as the best available and immediate option of the third baseman.. McMahon is a preferred choice no doubt but even if the Sox were to get him, McMahon still needs time in the minors since he's just played AA ball to this point and likely starts at AAA in '16. I hear ya about trading with Oakland though. Not a big fan of the idea myself. If Billy wants too much for Lawrie then I have no problem with looking elsewhere. The Sox have young pitching, the Rockies have young hitting so there's a potential matchup for a trade and Hahn has said he is open to trading minor league pitching for minor league hitting. Another idea would be to trade Anderson for McMahon since the Sox need a 3B for the future and the Rockies need a SS for the future. Especially after the s*** the Reyes has put himself into off the field and is looking more like he needs to play 2B on the field. Anderson is rated #38 fwiw so there's a potential fit there as well. I think they have a short stop in the high minors almost ready. Plus I think they drafted on with their first pick last year.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) Should the White Sox be interested in Andre Ethier if the Dodgers would eat LaRoche's contract? Ethier is 33 years old and is owed $37.5 million the next 2 years. How much would the Dodgers have to eat? Ethier put up a 2.9 fWAR and had a wRC+ of 137 last year. He was really good vs RHP. Vs RHP: .385 wOBA, 150 wRC+, high .336 BABIP, with a .900 OPS. My question is: What would it take? Who would the Dodgers have to take back in return and how much money would they have to eat? Ethier would give the Sox the LH run producer against RHP that they need and if they could dump LaRoche, it could give them flexibility with DH spot. Dodgers wouldn't be interested in LaRoche for Ethier. 1) already have Gonzalez at first 2) Ethier is useful and likely their starting RF next season (probably moving Puig this offseason) We would have to include something significant to make it worth their time for them to take on LaRoche and cut him and pay him for the full season. Our farm isn't deep enough to make that type of move.
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) I didn't see that. I'll edit it then. I think he will go to the Padres if/when Cashner and/or Ross is traded.
  25. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:31 AM) Re-sign Alexei. Attempt to sign Jae-Gyun Hwang. Failing that, trade for Brett Lawrie. See if there's any interest in a junk for junk trade involving Danks/LaRoche. Pick up a bad contract in the deal, but at a more useful position (Ethier, Crawford, Frazier) Danks is a fine 5th starter. Would rather move LaRoche. But it would take more to get Ether anyway. Frazier isn't a "junk" contract either.
