Royals fan/writer wants them to get Quintana
Bob Sacamano replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) The other issue that Quintana would become the Royals' ace. So in that sense, one might demand and ace's price. Royals have a horrible rotation. Their pen is great, but might succumb to the pressure and over-work. Wouldn't surprise me if the Twins take this division. Meanwhile, Royals look like a team to do business with. Also, trading a great pitcher within division should drive price up. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) Per Jesse Sanchez, Sox have (so far) signed Franklin Reyes for $1.5M, and Fernando Tatis Jr for $700k. Reports on Future Sox coming soon. Lets grab Martinez or Guerrero Jr and I'll be happy. Edit: also, Dodgers sign Alvarez for $16 mill and a few others for around $2 mill. Were only slotted for $2 mill to spend. They have to figure out a way to fix this system.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Davidson walked his first AB. Respectable OBP. Hopefully he'll be up soon. Even if he sucks, let him play for a while. I think if they end up moving Beckham or LaRoche he'll be up.

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
Bob Sacamano replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) Once you hire Ozzie, you're not letting him go, he's in it for the long run Hire Sandy Alomar Jr or Dave Martinez or someone else then. Try to bring Omar Vizquel in in the off-season as a bench coach and to work with young infielders on defense (they gotta be friends from Indians days right?). -

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) About f***ing time someone has said this, Ozzie left on miserable terms but he's ready for managing White Sox baseball again and I'm ready for Ozzie ball, Ozzie is a proven fiery winner with the desire to win, Robin comes off as a NyQuil addict who belongs back on his Malibu deck, Robin knows he doesn't want to be here Just a suggestion for Ozzie, Jim Thome would make an awesome hitting coach, he already worked with Trayce Thompson in the Spring and he's seem to done wonders Throw in another White Sox employee as well: Aaron Rowand Ozzie, Coop, Thome, and Crash would provide some South Side excitement...finally, and hopefully a winning culture immediately, World Series Champs 2016 1. Fire Robin 2. Hire Ozzie as interim manager (who really cares about the rest of this year 3. Hire Sandy Almost Jr. in the off-season if not sooner -
Mlbtr posted about how the Astros are going to have 40-man roster problems in the off-season again and that can help motivate them to make a couple of trades for starting pitching.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) While I agree with everything you say here, I do think we need to find a way to get him out of RF. He's just too much of a defensive liability out there and I don't see him ever improving enough for that to change. Trading LaRoche would clear the DH spot and allow for Avi & Melky to rotate between LF & DH. Not ideal IMO but better over our current alignment if you can find a plus defender for RF (Thompson or trade/free agency). Heyward

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/06/ange...or-hitting.html Angels are looking to trade for a left-handed hitting, high obp player who can play left or DH. I saw they were connected to Samardzija yesterday as well.

white Sox willing to part with Alexei Ramirez
Bob Sacamano replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Whitey @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) I have no problem with that... Flowers would be a solid backup. Absolutely. He's fine being Sale's personal catcher but someone who can hit should be able to catch the other 4 guys. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) I think there is absolutely zero chance they will pick up his option given his performance in the first half of this season. Agree but I wouldn't rule out a return on a very cheap one year deal. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) ScoMerkin @scottmerkin 1h1 hour ago Conor Gillaspie going through some early defensive drills under Joe McEwing's guidance here at Comerica Park Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 1h1 hour ago Gillaspie, Flowers, McEwing out for early work. I love how this is reported as news like its something worth noting when this should have been going on since April.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) This right here. iIRC, the Mets were peddling Jon Niese and/or another veteran pitcher ( forget the name) to upgrade SS and make room for Snydergaard. Snydergaard for Alexei was started on this board. Dillon Gee probably. -

Personally, I think he is stuck here rest of the year. Option will be bought out and he will re-sign on a one year cheap deal to be a stopgap. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) Angels could be a spot for Laroche. They have little LH hitting. He could DH and spell Albert once or twice a week. I agree that he does make sense for the Angels. I think he has a shot at moving in July. I definitely think Samardzija gets traded along with Soto and Beckham (for teams seeking bench depth).

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) quote name='greg775' date='Jun 25, 2015 -> 06:11 PM' post='3187644'] I told you guys all our veteran "name" players will be sought after. Please Sox, dump LaRoche and Melky and Lexi and Robertson and Duke and Shark in a major "do-over" of the past offseason. I'm confident Hahn will get it right this time. Greg: That would create 6 holes besides the existing 3B, 2B, C problems. Considering none of the above, except maybe Robertson and even his stock is slowly sinking, are going to bring back multiple MLB prospects next year could be even worse. I thought that too lol lineup would be: Eaton CF Johnson 2B Abreu 1B Garcia RF Gillaspie 3B/DH Davidson DH/3B Flowers C Thompson LF Sanchez SS

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 07:16 AM) http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/washing...al-notes-062415 Ken Rosenthal still saying astros interested in shark. I'd love to deal with Houston. So much depth that even if we don't get their top guys, we can still get a great return.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:45 AM) You've gotta be bleepin me. Now we go to Detroit?? For four games?? Geezus I hate baseball's schedule. Now we cure Detroit's ills. Sox take one if lucky. More likely Four game sweep coming considering our defense will kick it all over that big stadium. My gawd. And no Sale in this series. I bet a 4-game sweep officially makes them sellers.

Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Bob Sacamano replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) Trading Sale is laughable. He's a young ace and cost controlled. Add in a young Rodon, solid Q. This team can move on from Samardzija and sign a big ticket pitcher to add to the rotation of Sale, Q and Rodon. Sale is too young and too good to just trade away. The asking price would be astronomical. Has to be because of how good he is and cost controlled. The idea that you think the Sox would sign a "big ticket pitcher" is also laughable. -
What about a deal with the Cubs? Samardzija for Villanueva (a 3B prospect who just turned 24 and having a good season) and Vogelbach? Cubs don't really need either and are looking for pitching. They can just sign Price in the off-season then.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) I am still leaning towards the Sox trying to sign the Sharkmeister to a 3-5 year deal. Hopefully though the figure is more in line with a sum of $14M a year. The whole team has stunk this year so you can't just say it's Smards faulty and trade him away for unknown commodities. I am of the pinion that we won't see and fire sale as the management thinks next year will be better with the talent we have. Of course we may see some mid-level moves Trade him and then try to see if his demands come down a little in off season since he is a free agent and won't require loss of a draft pick.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) I am not sure why Hoffman is so valued here, he is a guy that has a 4.28 ERA in A ball. He is no where near as valuable as the package that Shark was traded for last summer or even last winter and probably holds as much value as if the Sox were to just hold on to Shark and take the comp pick. They could have had a similar guy (pre-season top 5 guy that was injured) in Matuella this year in the comp round. Hoffman would be a decent start for a deal, but if they are not going to sweeten it to the point where you feel compelled to make a deal it is senseless to trade Shark. A Hoffman/Urena package would make sense for both sides. Pentecost's arm may never be the same after sitting out this season after having shoulder surgery so I would be wary of taking him. The good thing for the Sox is that there are going to be more people buying pitching than good pitching that will be available which should help secure a premium value for Shark or Q. Don't judge a guy who has only made 7 starts after coming off almost a year of no pitching. That's ridiculous.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) Has he pitched at all since getting to the bigs ? I remember he made his debut against TB in either a tie game or we were up by 1 (seems like a good time for an MLB debut).

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) When I think about the Sox and the 2016 draft I think, hitters hitters hitters! Any interesting prep/college hitters to keep an eye on? Heck, if the Sox finish bottom ten in league, don't give up any draft picks for free agents, and get a sandwich pick for Shark, that'd be 3 picks in about rhe first 50/60. But I'd rather get a more polished prospect (s) for Samardzija.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) Agreed and there's another aspect not yet mentioned. IMHO, in order for the cubs to acquire Sale or Q the cubs likely have to over pay. If I'm the Sox, I'm not very intrigued by the idea of hearing about how well Q or Sale is pitching for the cubs for the next four plus years. It's a novel idea to talk about trading with the cubs because they are so loaded with hitting talent but in reality I doubt it ever happens. Not on this grand of scale. Besides, do we really want to give the cubs a chance at getting back at the Sox for the Karchner/ Garland trade? I wouldn't mind hearing about how good either is over there as long as whoever we got was doing and is productive.
