Glad that p**** is gone- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
I figured it would be the same guaranteed amount DeJong got last year.- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
$6.5M less he has to spend later.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
Is being "successful" just making the Majors? That seems like a low bar.- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
I think its just a hypothetical "would you rather have A or B" discussion. Would you rather pay Abreu the league minimum or AV almost $6.5M? I don't care about JR saving money but also don't think Vaughn is good so I'd rather go in a different direction that isn't Abreu or AV.- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
Best bet is that some team wants him in a platoon at 1B. But then having a 1B only type player limits yours bench (depending on what you're doing with your DH position I guess).- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
To be fair, when you don’t spend on top talent and your MLB roster has holes, you tend to push high ceiling guys quickly. But on the flipside, I guess that could cause you to rely on the promotion of guys who are just average or "meh" in the minors as well.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
Julks is immediately expendable with the Slater add.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
Yeah, a guy I just learned/remembered was on the team yesterday- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
Yeah, I guess if you wanted to protect those relievers, you would just be replacing the older relievers (Anderson, Kuhl, De Los Santos, Ron M (don't know how to spell it), Varland, etc). Julks is another guy who feels like DFA fodder with Slater getting an MLB deal and serving as the RHH bench OF.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
They will probably try to sneak a few guys through waivers closer to Rule 5 Draft and non-tender guys. I think the 40-man roster flexibility narrative is a non-issue. Team just lost 120 games. Easily still fat that can be cut.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
Colson and Carela selected. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/white-sox-to-select-colson-montgomery-juan-carela.html- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
Abreu at league minimum or Vaughn at about $6M? Idk I think I would prefer non-tendering Vaughn, sign Abreu to MiLB deal, and look for someone more interesting to play at 1B on a MLB deal. Or just move Vargas to 1B and play Ramos at 3B.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
Yeah, the older relievers for sure who should get a look with the Sox.- Work for the White Sox
Just say yes and agree with everything JR says.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Yeah, if they want to open space on the 40-man right before the Rule 5 draft, it really won’t be that hard. Just look at the roster. No one will be upset if they DFA and lose Justin Anderson, or Gus Varland, or Pen Murfee.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
MLB deal.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Yeah I will reiterate what I said earlier and say there’s plenty of fat to trim if the 40-man gets too full.- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
I would have liked Cowser to win RoY so they could get the extra draft pick.- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
Think it was more about work ethic than actually being a vocal type leader.- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
Hes getting paid full contract from Astros minus league minimum wherever he signs.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Lefties*- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Platoon with Beni more likely. He's not replacing a LHH. Julks is a guy who should be more worried.
