Being 32, we did have some pretty good seasons earlier in my (and I'm sure others) life. I probably really started to like the sport around 1999/2000. No, they never really made it to the playoffs but at least most seasons they were competitive. Even if they usually faded in the second half.

This actually seems in the realm of possibility if a starter goes down. That scares me.

Looking back on it, it's insane their plan was for the guys they traded for and drafted and signed from Cuba to just all be stars. Instead of spending on other star players while that core was cheap. No reason they shouldn't have landed Machado or the even better fit Harper.

I wonder how many games Colas has now sat to where leaving him Triple-A for a few weeks to get the extra year of control would have made sense. Edit: with a 7-17 record with Colas starting in 17 of those games, the team is 5-12 in games he was in the starting lineup. Really moving the needle!
