The MLB lockout is lifted!
Looking into it now (the past 5 years not counting 2020), it really varies. 3 teams .500 or better would have missed the playoffs last year under the 12 team format, 4 in 2019 and 2018, 2017 would be a wash (only 5 teams .500 or better in the AL somehow lol), and then 4 again in 2016. Of course, there are a lot of high 70/80 win teams that might have fizzled at the end or just barely got beat out by other teams that made it in I guess.

Yeah I’m thinking HFA through first round, no days off is fine.

Yeah, there is definitely still time for that.

I'm open to him up mags isn't a fan.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
I'm open to a ton of possibilities at 2B as long as they lock up a real RF and not someone like Joc Pederson haha if that happens then I'd lean more offense at 2B.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
I read an article last week about how Brad Miller is a forgotten about free agent. Doesn't really have an every day position and can't hit lefties but looking at his stats, he looked like he was decent at 2B. Could probably platoon him and Leury if you actually want someone who can hit (39 bombs over his last 678 plate appearances). But definitely don't play him against lefties haha

Yeah it's pretty bad. I'm just aiming for defense at that position now. And honestly might as well have just signed Yolmer to a minor league deal for depth.

The MLB lockout is lifted!
A writer in an MLBTR article (I'll try to find it) seemed to indicate that anyone unsigned would fall under the new CBA rules but we shall see. I guess they could agree that it would be fair to start next offseason.

Picked up Kimbrel's option, signed Graveman, re-signed Leury. That's about it.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
I have a feeling Greinke is going to be a fantastic get for someone. In one of those MLBTR chats, the writer pointed out that 3 of his last 4 starts of the season really hurt his stats. I feel like a rebuilding team should offer a one or 2 year high AAV deal and look to flip him. Probably wants a contender though. Would make sense for the Tigers honestly.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
They already sort of a have a roster crunch. I don't know if that would work. I've read other random proposals that the Brewers with strong pitching depth (Adrian Houser vs McNeil) would be a good match with the Mets for McNeil since they have a ton of question marks in their offense and Mets apparently want another mid-rotation type arm.

I bet they sign a veteran to compete with Collins, Zavala and even Perez. I think Robinson Chirinos is still out there.

Damn. Pushing Vlad to DH at 23.

I agree…but we will see. I feel like they should have started in the minors last year, along with Vaughn but oh well.

I feel like I wouldn’t hate them signing another lefty if Crochet is in the Kopech type of role from last season (or if he’s traded).

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Yeah I’d expect a signing of another guy like that or as a piece in a Kimbrel trade for sure.
-
The MLB lockout is lifted!
With Muncy likely to miss beginning of season and the NL likely adding a DH, he’s not exactly an extra piece anymore. I’d be interested in seeing what it would take.

Graveman will likely be a setup man so that would replace Kimbrel’s role. No doubt Kimbrel gets moved. Luxury tax increase also helps those teams that were right up against the previous amount and need a closer (Kimbrel).

Agreed. I think they grab more of a depth guy. The rotation is set in my mind, for better or worse.

I don’t think they will spend close to whatever the number ends up being but I think they trade Kimbrel. So say if there budget is close to what they are currently at, they have room for Conforto and lesser 2B signing, give or take going over a couple mill.
