  1. His father's funeral is today so I kinda think this would happen Thursday or Friday if it happens this week.
  2. Lol its not really a big deal. They make the move just in case the other ones sign somewhere else. Like I said above, just make him available and deal him somewhere else. Sox weren't the only team in on him at the time.
  3. Well they could trade him. Other teams besides the Sox were in on him.
  4. He would definitely make more sense if they didn't stupidly sign Abreu to that extension.
  5. Jesus, I'm having flashbacks of all the routine fly balls Alex Rios dropped in RF for the Sox lol edit: granted, it may only be a few but even one dropped routine fly ball hit right at you is too many if you're an MLB OF.
  6. Could always move Castellanos after this season. Didn't give up anything for him.
  7. Pretty sure their entire infield (not counting catcher obviously) consists of switch hitters.
  8. Pence as a platoon bat (if they have Collins at DH, he can pick up some at bats there too) with Mazara would be fine with me.
  9. Indians still look solid (Kluber didn't contribute last year) until they deal off Lindor (but that also depends on what they bring back).
  10. He was never going to get a good chunk of PT anyway.
  11. Can you confirm this anywhere other than Peter Gammons spewing Madrigal and Vaughn for Price and Benintendi?
  12. Good signings for a rebuilding team that needs MLB filler.
  13. I'm in the same boat. You currently have Fulmer or Covey holding down a spot or Kopech. Definitely not acceptable.
  14. Madrigal might be easier to extend and I see him as the likely of the 2 to maybe take a very team friendly deal (maybe not in offseason but year or two).
  15. He gets stuff like that often it seems. Especially last year.
  16. Yes. If they paid the man and tossed a $300 mill extension in his lap, sure. But the organization hasn't given out a 100+ mill contract so color me skeptical.
  17. Long term, it's not a good move. He would be here 2 years and you're giving a significant piece (or two or three) plus other pieces to your rival.
  18. The Sox don't even pay these types of guys in free agency. No way would they trade young guys to be able to pay that contract.
  19. He'll enter free agency at the age of 27. That seems light.
  20. Basically holding down a rotation spot until Kopech comes up. Holding down a roster spot until Rodon is ready. (Assuming of course no injuries or other reasons we may need him).
  21. If we had a dollar for every time someone said the Sox were going to sign or trade for someone over a certain period of time/on a given date over the past couple of years, we would all be rich.
