The way I look at it, if there is an injury to an OF and we need someone in the lineup for maybe a couple of weeis at a time, who would I rather see in the lineup everyday: Engel or Maybin? The guy I would prefer I want as my 4th OF. Granted, I would rather have a better corner bench bat to platoon with Mazara/start in LF or RF if there is an injury but the team does need someone who can fill in in CF.

I'm fine with Engel as the 4th bench piece (maybe 5th if they go with a 7-man pen), as long as he's not the primary 4th OF. Basically only late inning pinch runner/defensive sub. Occasional start in CF.

What was Strop's issue last year? Looks like he only pitched in 50 games. Injuries cause the rough year?

Donaldson's very well could with his injury history. Probably needs to be somewhere he could DH some to get more rest.

Kendrick isn't really a 2B anymore. And you figure, in their current situation, he will get a bulk of his playing time at 1B.

Any teams need catching help and have a reliever (even with one year of control/left on their contract) to spare? A straight one for one deal would make sense.

I would be willing to *if* he is willing to give the Sox more years of control. Obviously not for record breaking money. But if they could get two or three years of control (team options) signing an extension now rather than the extra one Robert got, I'd probably gamble on it.
