  1. Yep. They can not open the year with Covey and Fulmer both in the rotation.
  2. I don't disagree. But it just doesn't feel like they will add anyone significant (especially through free agency obviously).
  3. They have to bring someone in. Saw a graphic on Twitter the other day that showed if they truly intend on starting Kopech in Charlotte, the Opening Day rotation is Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Covey, Fulmer. If they're not getting Ryu or trading for anyone significant, it might be a "development year and sign 2 potential bounce-back type arms and hope to catch lightning in a bottle in a trash division" type of year, which at this point, it may very well be (I don't want them giving up anything significant yet).
  4. They'll sign 2 SP I'm sure, even if one isn't a front of the rotation 1 or 2 type. As of now (assuming Kopech starts in minors), you're looking at a 4 and 5 of Covey and Fulmer. Give me 2 of Wood, Walker and Teheran if we have to over those 2 lol
  5. Agreed. Just not sure who that could be.
  6. They're not going to pay $5 mill for a backup if they're trying to cut salary.
  7. Not much I would think. His salary is a bit high for a backup but the payroll is low and it's only for a year.
  8. Welp, that's enough Soxtalk for me for today.
  9. Few days too late to make this statement.
  10. Doesn't have to be a straight platoon behind the plate. But I agree that he isn't really a fit.
  11. I agree but I think someone will give him more. Maybe do something the Braves did and go with a 3-year deal, opt-out after 1 year? He at least plugs a spot for a year, we don't give up a draft pick, and we're not potentially tied down long-term.
  12. Wait, is this true? My free MLBTV subscription will actually have value?
  13. Home field probably reminds him of the Tokyo Dome.
  14. Rick Hahn has basically come out saying he won't be. And I get that people might say that there could be a grievance but I feel like they actually have a legit argument against manipulation. Signing 2 MLB SP would definitely help their case.
  15. Being able to play everywhere, guys getting hurt and going on the IL, covering either CF or 2B until Robert and Madrigal are up, and then platooning against most lefties. Sure seems likely haha
  16. Yeah I'm currently combing through free agency and checking stats trying to find a lefty masher (think a guy like Steve Pearce) but the right-handed hitting OFs are pretty meh. Domingo Santana is out there but I'd expect him to get a starting role somewhere.
  17. Wow, I didn't even say that lol But yeah, I actually forgot about Leury momentarily. Platoon him with Mazara. (After looking at the stats, 100% Leury).
  18. Gooooo get Ryu instead of taking on Price's deal + potentially giving something up.
  19. .844 OPS against righties. Go find a strong bench bat for him to platoon with (no Engel please).
  20. Maybe not his "worth." But I guess a better term would be demand since deals are not always about a player's true value.
  21. Perfect example of what we wanted the Sox to do the last 3 years with a lower payroll and they never did it. What a shame.
  22. What did he say about Price?
