  1. I see 2 decent years and another decent cup of coffee in the league a season before those 2.
  2. This. The injury was TJ specific which he didn't have post-extension. He's NOT at the league minimum everyone here keeps saying he is.
  3. You also don't see any top prospect(s) for top prospect(s) trades.
  4. Sign Machado for 8 years/$280m (opt-outs after years 4 and 5 so there is incentive to perform in those years and the team gets him for a guarantee 4 years; whatever offer he accepts is going to include them).
  5. I assume they will sit on it until about May/June hoping that another top player emerges from somewhere.
  6. Yeah that and commercial breaks are about a minute longer I believe. In a baseball game, that adds up.
  7. He was not considered an amateur free agent and yes we did sign him during the world series.
  8. Yeah there is a brief period where only the former team can negotiate.
  9. Unfortunately probably true. Vizquel would certainly be a great infield instructor though.
  10. It's ok. His only friend in baseball Welington Castillo will convince him to sign here.
  11. We are in the penalty box. We are out when the new period starts July 2.
  12. That's easy. Because the Phillies are a team that has spent in the past. Looking back at their competitive window up until around the time they started rebuilding, they were a top 5 salary team and even had the second highest payroll 2 or 3 times.
  13. The Sox will have Nate Jones at league minimum next year, correct? If so, anyone who has an MLBtr accont go back up a poor fan who is debating with a few other posters (including the author of the article) on MLBtr about the exact amount of his option for next year lol Edit: nevermind, the surgery is TJ specific. His last surgery wasn't TJ.
  14. This isn't what did it for me. His hustle (or lack thereof) and general attitude is what has changed my mind. He 100% seems like the type of player who will just coast after getting the big pay day, especially if the Dodgers win the World Series this year.
  15. This team will have most likely 8 relievers again, just as the team has operated the past few seasons. I'm going to guess 3 of those guys are veterans. Even if that includes Nate Jones, who will likely get hurt again and open up a spot for a young guy anyway. And assuming one of the veterans is flipped between May-July, that would open up another chance for innings.
  16. Jones really shouldn't be counted on, despite being on the team.
  17. I'd also add Trevor Rosenthal to the list of guys I would take a shot on.
  18. He actually signed a 2-year deal the year prior, even though he was going to miss all of 2017. Is there any other pitchers out there we can do that to?
  19. It also depends on his age and service time (not sure on either) if he is considered an amateur signing or not. Edit: did the research. You have to be at least 25 and have at least 6 years of experience to be exempt from the rules. He is 25 with only 5 years.
  20. I've started living by the rule: post-college is fair game once you hit a certain age.
  21. That has everything to do with this thread haha
