  1. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 07:04 AM) Same can be said for Moncada. Having said that I would rather have Moncada than Frazier. Can say that about every prospect really. And ones with a small cup of coffee.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) So which one is it? 2 year with an option.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Angels sign Rymer Liriano to a minor league deal. Big week in Anaheim. Whoa, slow down Angels.
  4. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Much more likely to listen to Heyman than Nightengale. I don't understand why anyone pays attention to what he says. To be fair, they're not really saying different things in those tweets if that is what you're suggesting.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) From a Phil Rogers Winter Meetings preview: https://amp.mlb.com/263178696-al-powers-pon...impression=true Can't see the Red Sox dealing Benintendi.
  6. Being 23, they could always send him to AAA and deal Frazier mid-season when more starters could be available or have him replace Gardner in 19 in the corner outfield/DH rotation.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 08:22 PM) I know, why on Earth would Jon Lester accept a deal from a team that had averaged 92.5 losses the previous 2 years. Could think of 170 million reasons.
  8. Torres is gonna be in the minors what, 2 weeks?
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) You lost me with the bolded In the sense that you wouldn't do a pitching prospect straight up for Frazier as those 1 for 1 type of deals don't seem to happen.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) I really don’t see a match here. Come July I want Delmonico & Jimenez in LF & RF on a daily basis. Plus we don’t have a major league ready arm that’s really expendable. I don't think anyone was suggesting we should trade for him. I agree that there isn't a fit.
  11. I assume Gardner will get dealt somewhere too. Hicks in CF, Stanton and Kudge in corners and Ellsbury DH.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 04:09 PM) Before we worry about Yankees dominating next ten years take a look at their rotation and bullpen, extend it to 2020 and tell me you think it will be dominating. The yanks farm is good but any star pitchers that would come from it may be kinda random baseball luck. They will need to do a lot of supplementing if pitching soon through FA or trades...and take of cubs should show how quickly the farm can empty out. Baseball will be okay. I assume Frazier will get dealt for a long-term arm. I guess we'll see if any of their arms in the minors stick.
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) And your argument would be wrong. You somehow never mentioned money, which of course is what this is all about. Stanton wasn’t “about” to get expensive like what usually happens in Miami, he already held the worst contract in baseball, and new ownership wanted to hit the reset button. I don’t argue the return was terrible and if Miami could have tried to control the media narrative from the start, things may have been different for the Marlins. But once word was out that the Marlins were set on trading him, their leverage was GONE. Especially since the options were limited due to contract and no-trade clause. Literally only 4 teams.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) Harper’s going to want to play somewhere that he’s clearly THE guy...just not seeing the fit there now in NYC. Would almost be like Durant to the Warriors if the Yankees win it all next year. IMO, Yankees would be better off saving remaining gunpowder for starting pitching. Yeah and they have expendable guys like Clint Frazier to get it.
  15. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) kinda surprised the Yankees actually did this....just for the fact they just recently got out from under the albatross contract that was ARod's that most Yankee fans bemoaned. But the fact they're not really giving up squat for prospects eases taking on a contract like that. At some point they'll have the same feeling with Stanton that they did with ARod IMO... If they didn't do this, they'd be in on Machado/Harper most likely. This way they didn't really have to bid with anyone and gave up close to nothing. Also opening 2B for Gleyber. Ps: you just KNEW when Stanton signed his deal that he would end up with the Yankees or Dodgers at some point.
  16. I would bet on Castro being flipped (Brewers or Angels).
  17. Castro expected to be part of a deal. That would leave 2B for Torres.
  18. Well yeah I'd have interest but don't really see a match. If we had some veteran starters to move, maybe.
  19. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 04:40 PM) Maybe I'm crazy, and admittedly I have never seen him play, but are these japanese league stats THAT impressive to warrant such lofty scouting reports? I mean Eric Thames absolutely destroyed japanese league pitching, far more than Otani ever has. I'm not knocking pro japanese baseball, but the competition level is far below the MLB. His 3.3 BB/9 is merely average supposedly for japanese league pitchers as well. Pitching grades: Fastball: 80 | Slider: 65 | Curveball: 50 | Splitter: 65 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 70 Hitting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 65 | Run: 65 | Arm: 80 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60 I'm by no means calling him a bust, but I think there will be much more of a learning curve for him than is being projected. Eric Thames did not destroy Japanese league pitching as he has never played in the Japanese league.
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) Interesting choice to pick the Angels, as their farm is one of the weakest in the mlb. Even with Richards back and Ohtani, the pitching staff is pretty suspect. They lost Petit, who pitched 91 solid innings for them in free agency as well. The Astros should have a stranglehold on that division for the next few seasons, even if the Angels went out and signed relief help and Darvish. Best case they would be looking at a wild card I'm thinking. They have so many injuries I kind of actually wonder if they should just go 6-man rotation.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) Oh boy, missed initially he's signing with angels in my last response. Genuinely feel bad for mariners. Very glad it's not padres. Excited for years of Trout and Ohtani. STill don't think Angels make playoffs Pujols at 1B is going to be brutal, even if it is just 2-3 games a week.
  22. Dodgers are in an amazing position to swoop in anytime and not trade anyone worthwhile if they are willing to take on all the money.
  23. Angels should probably add another free agent SP. Go all out while they still have Trout.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 12:43 PM) Getting traded would be bad because I imagine anyone trading for him would open up their checkbook to sign him. Good point. Unless maybe it was a team like the Dodgers that had an injury to Seager or Turner and wanted a rental for half a season.
  25. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) Wow, over $13 million per year for a #5 starting pitcher. Front end/mid rotation guys should ask for the moon. Just looking back at the past 5 years, it seems like back-end guys have been getting over $10m a year. I'm not too surprised. Also, his numbers on the road are better than at home (for Col). He's gotta be better than Lackey.
