  1. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:58 AM) You guys.....I'm so scared. Same. I hate this risk.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) An extension for Machado would have to be 7/$200 at a minimum. I would think he'd want more years though. Probably 10 with a few opt-outs.
  3. For him not to go to free agency, they better be willing to pay over $30m a year. There's also value in being the only team that can negotiate a deal with him for a year.
  4. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Plenty of scrubs on Twitter saying the Sox are one of five teams who have made a trade offer for Machado. I think they're all reposting some random post. Probably going off the fact that we have inquired.
  5. Is it true the Yankees are trying to include Ellsbury in a deal? Lol
  6. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) I like this answer....If anyone bothered to give a well thought out answer, would it be read AND comprehended? Haha. The better question is why does he come off like we all disagree with him that it doesn't make sense for us to trade for Machado.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 05:36 PM) I have a serious question nobody has addressed. Why would ANY TEAM, much less our White Sox, trade 3-4 TOP prospects for a one-year rental? There's no chance in hell Machado will sign prior to free agency. Why would he? So rather than flame greg, please answer my question. Nobody has addressed this except me. What player the caliber of Machado has EVER agreed to a long extension with one season to go before free agency. s***, even Cain, Hosmer and Moustakas, who are average to above average players, did not do that and they like Kansas city, a nice, quaint town. Lol
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 05:06 PM) You'd have to guess Cardnails based on White Sox position and the division of the first two teams. A trade within the division wasn't dismissed. That honestly seems like the best scenario for the O's: Red Sox and Yankees bid against each other for him.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) Cardinals is my prediction for Manny Same as they've been linked to other 3B as well (like Donaldson who is also a rental).
  10. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Brittany Ghiroli @Britt_Ghiroli 49s #Orioles making “good progress” on Machado trade. More than 5 teams interested at Degrees. Brittany Ghiroli‏Verified account @Britt_Ghiroli 19s19 seconds ago More Duq didn’t dismiss division rival trade. Said they talked to all interested to gauge market. Wouldn't it be crazy if the Yankees grabbed him? Just a one year rental, but still.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) 8am Central. Awesome. Right when I show up to work. Thanks.
  12. If the Marlins trade Yelich, I really hope Ichiro is at least brought back as a semi-every day player.
  13. Marlins release Edinson Volquez https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/marl...on-volquez.html
  14. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) I really don't see why we wouldn't take 2 relief pitchers.. Why not.. If one doesn't work he goes back to the original team.. Not a big deal. There's some talent here and we have 7 open relief pitcher spots lolll Exactly. Plenty of wide open competition. I would actually be shocked if they didn't take 2 players in the MLB portion of the Rule 5 draft.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) That would be a very smart plan. All of the NLW ballparks are huge so defense goes a long way. Yeah and Span and Pence were both brutal out there. They need guys who can cover ground in their own ballpark.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) Did you know Harper owns a Chicago Bulls shirt? That can't be a coincidence. He was hanging out with Kris Bryant, a friend from the same town he grew up in! And has a dog named Wrigley!/green
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) Aren't the Giants linked to Cain and Bruce as well as McCutchen? I kinda doubt they would be interested in Avi. And have made an offer to the Reds for Hamilton apparently. They could potentially pull off a deal for Hamilton and sign Cain for RF and greatly improve the defense in the outfield.
  18. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) Does he have any sort of no trade in his contract? It appears not.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) Jon Heyman‏Verified account @JonHeyman 1m1 minute ago Marlins are regrouping now and plan to talk to Christian Yelich about how he feels about staying. He’s frustrated to see 3 best friends/top players go. So he may say he wants to go, which may trigger trade of him, too. They could wait until the deadline too. Or next off-season.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Yawn. I'm bored. Yeah. That one Winter Meetings where there was like 20 trades and then the Meetings last year spoiled us. It's the last full day and there's been minimal action.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) Bob Nightengale‏Verified account @BNightengale 25m25 minutes ago The #SGiants have Jay Bruce atop their free agent wish list but they have yet to make offers to any free agent impact bat If they go with Span/Pence platoon in LF and sign Bruce for RF...they better trade for Hamilton to cover the remaining ground.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Nestor Cortes just seems like one of those guys who can end up producing if given an opportunity. He's not that big, his stuff is not great, but it's hard to ignore how well he has produced. I'd take him. Thin on lefties.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) I would like to see the Sox take a position player; they can take a pitcher in round 2 - always a lot. ONe that strikes me is Jason Martin of the Astros. He's only 22, hit pretty well in the Carolina League, and can play CF. Astros are the best in the biz re developing talent. I think Leury Garcia will get a nice bulk of time in CF (to start the year anyway). I don't really want a position player unless they deal Garcia in the next like 18 hours.
  24. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Not much in the SF farm that the Sox would want though. Arroyo? Ramos? Beyond them their system is scary thin on talent. Jordan Gonzalez? I have a feeling a team isn't going to need to overpay for Garcia or anything.
