White Sox have shown interest in Machado
Bob Sacamano replied to peppers312's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) Too bad the Cubs didn't trade for him last week. Damn too bad. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) I don't necessarily care about these kids being workout warriors to get an edge, but while they are navigating these age 19-22 years, I'd much rather them be a workout warrior than not taking their diet or offseason as seriously. I always wish I could be this way after seeing some celebrities and athletes but then realize they have the time and money stay in that kind of shape.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) More info coming out, it appears the offers aren't good enough. Surprise. I'm sure they're getting offers that are good enough but apparently not to them. I assume a team has to be willing to deal at least a top prospect and a few lesser prospects. They're sights are too high if they expect to also get MLB pieces. Contending teams aren't looking to subtract from their roster. -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 08:09 PM) Tomshaw looks like fodder, House will probably be in Chicago at some point. Being a lefty, probably. Edit: just saw both throw left-handed. However, only one has been in the majors so far.

Wonder if he'd take bullpen gig. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 04:35 PM) He's usually not someone that just stirs the pot based on questionable sources. Sometimes he throws the eyeballs out at random reports that has the Sox connected. -
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) I agree they were never signing both but it is strange that they shut down the Hosmer front (backup plan) before they've even acquired JD Martinez... Maybe we will hear an announcement in the next day.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) The #STLCards have been pursuing #Bluejays 3B Josh Donaldson much stronger than #Orioles Manny Machado, perhaps in part because they'd have a much better chance to lock up Donaldson to long-term extension. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/942881671275094016 How long would a team be willing to go on Donaldson? I see him getting a 3 year deal with an option for a 4th covering his age 33-36 seasons. -
I think I'd rather have Moreland at that price than Hosmer at what he wants/might get. That let's the team spend in other areas of need (JDM for OF). They were never going to sign both.

Dodgers trade Adrian Gonzalez, BMac, Kazmir, Culberson
Bob Sacamano replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 04:09 PM) Or they attached significant prospect compensation. Getting Buehler or Verdugo and sending back a Matt Rose or some college player who performed poorly at Great Falls would probably make the Sox interested. Can Verdugo be an odd-man out if they're plan is to sign Harper next off-season at all costs? They can also fall back on Charlie Blackmon, McCutchen (for a corner spot), Jones, Pollock, etc. as targets. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) Now that is really cool. USA TODAY SportsVerified account @usatodaysports 44m44 minutes ago Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels donates 32,000-square-foot mansion and 100 acres of land to camp for children with special needs and chronic illnesses. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/local/2...abas/956053001/ WOW. Awesome, Cole. These are the type of stories we need. -

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) Braves waived Gonzales today. Yeah that was expected. And Kemp likely will too unless the Dodgers find a taker. -

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/reac...aves-trade.html Here's the part about the Dodgers appearing willing to deal prospects with Kemp to move most of the contract. The White Sox doing something like this makes 1,000 times more sense than trading anything of value for Machado. -

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 08:01 AM) This should be explored by the Sox. I don't understand why the Braves wouldn't have insisted on getting a prospect back. It doesn't make sense for one team to bail out another financially without getting prospects back. The Stanton trade was the same. Why would the Marlins not insist on one of the Yankees' top 5 prospects in addition to taking Castro's contract? Remember that they also traded 2 years of Kemp for one year of 3 bad contracts. The money was close overall. Also cleared a spot in the OF for Acuña. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 11:45 PM) The Dodgers wouldn't give you prospects to take Kemp. They don't care about paying his salary, they just cared about the AAV getting them under the CB tax. MLBTR says they want to. Why wouldn't they want to clear $21m each of next 2 years? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) Do you really want Kemp on a team learning how to win together for the first time? Release him. You're just buying the prospects. -

Dodgers willing to trade prospect(s) to unload 2 years of Kemp. Depending on who they would offer, I'd want the Sox to look into this. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Thinking about this, the Sox chances of signing Machado or Harper just decreased. Hopefully the Dodgers go all in on Harper. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) Giolito, Fulmer, Lopez ALL finished strong Anderson, Moncada, Delmonico ALL finished strong Add them to Abreu and Avi with Jiminez and Collins not far behind and I think this O will be entertaining CWS shouldn't compete this year but I think they'll overachieve and be fun to watch The league will adjust. It's all about how these guys adjust back. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) What’s funny is if Baltimore really wanted to prevent Machado from going to the Yankees, they’d agree to a 72 hour window with us, the Cardinals, the Phillies, etc. Obviously it’s highly unlikely he’d agree to anything, but what if one of these teams offered him 10/$400M right now? This whole keep him from the Yankees priority is pretty stupid IMO. I get not trading him directly to them or allowing a team like us to spin him right away to them, but ultimately there is nothing they can do to prevent the Yankees from signing him next offseason. Might as well go the 72 hour route before proceeding down the path they’re already going down. So true. -
Guys, he's with Oakland now.
