  1. Doesn't sound crazy for the Dodgers to extend him to play SS with Seager moving to 2B.
  2. Sounds like a deal is close. I bet something gets announced Wednesday or Thursday.
  3. Especially Wednesday and Thursday. I went out for a couple beers last night for the derby and that was a good time and plan on going out tonight for the game.
  4. Seems that way.
  5. Padres I believe are paying the buyout.
  6. Nope. It's all about expectations coming in. They are rebuilding so you expect the early losses.
  7. Right. But with Rodon, you likely also have to wait until his last year. As a Boras client, he will gamble on himself and his health before signing a extension of any kind. Makes no sense for him not to wait.
  8. Oh he signed an extension alright. Would argue that it is not team friendly, however. The team still has to pay to retain his clients (with his injury history, one can argue it was an overpay).
  9. The counter-argument is "you don't trade Abreu for a buy-low" but Jose hasn't been hitting and is barely a 1B so who knows really.
  10. My point is the Sox aren't involved in every two team deal. It's always, "If this team trades for Player A, I wonder if Player B will go to the White Sox," drawing a correlation out of nothing.
  11. Why does everyone on here jump to the conclusion that the Sox are somehow a part of every deal in some way?
  12. We want them to do well but its more likely they struggle their first time up in the majors (regards to Kopech, Stephens, Eloy, etc.). And as someone said, trading off a few relievers will make the pen awful.
  13. Not really. Those guys along with Rodon can finish strong and we can still finish poorly overall. The bullpen and others starters can suck.
  14. Actually, there were a lot of people on here saying he could be next Kahnle.
  15. He'll be playing whatever position the team that pays him the most tells him to play next year.
  16. I sat through a 20-1, weekday May/June game against the Twins in a year we were supposed to be good. Definitely the worst for me. Also, Jake Peavy rejected a trade to the Sox that very day.
  17. Not all of those are examples of what is being discussed here. Just the ones with the same day extension and the extension window before trade (Santana). The scenario is a 48-hour window like the Santana deal.
  18. Yeah that's usually how it works. A deal contingent on extension. Theres only a couple of these I remember happening in the off-season.
  19. You don't really see that happen mid-season. At least I can't remember a time. The only time I could ever see that allowed is if the negotiation window is over the all-star break and the player is off all 4 days.
  20. It definitely doesn't happen mid-season for obvious reasons but off-season is possible for that type of move.
  21. You could pick up the option and deal him. Or, in this proposed scenario, Garcia is a free agent after 19 so you keep Marte anyway.
  22. Ah I thought it was Ron's idea originally months ago. My bad.
  23. Of course Greg would be the one to agree with the idea of moving Tim to catcher.
  24. Not everything is reported. Look at how how wide open our pen was. There's no way they didn't check on every reliever with past success, recent struggles.
