  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:28 AM) Has to be burdi right? Tocci along with something else probably. Wouldn't make sense if it is a 1-1 swap.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) I honestly just don't get this. If you want Machado so badly, just be offer him the most amount of money in the off-season next year. Does the White Sox organization have such a great culture that he will begging to stay with us if we traded for him? This move just seems to contrary to everything Hahn has done the last year plus. I get the idea they won't be doing that.
  3. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:19 AM) What's the 72 hour window do?? We get 72 hours to negociate a contract.. What happens if nothing is reached in that time frame? Can the trade be thrown out? Someone enlighten lil' ol' me You would agree to a deal contingent on if an extension is reached.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:17 AM) Yay more outfielders. Thought we were short on AAAA guys there. Yeah this guy doesn't seem too special.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:16 AM) Carlos Tocci? Interesting.
  6. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:16 AM) If they are discussing these guys I would imagine a 72 hr window is involved We should hear more after the Rule 5 draft.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) After Machado has been extended. Yeah what should change? People are on board with dealing those 2 now and then signing Machado for 2019 as is.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) And more than likely get far less than what you gave up Yeah that would be the risk for sure. That gap is pretty much the payment for the window. But you can snag top 100 prospects at the deadline for 2 month rentals. That shouldn't change as it always happens.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Haven't read a single rumor since this broke again last night that makes me feel comfortable about this I'm sure teams have also been prepping for the Rule 5 draft.
  10. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Soxtalk would be furious if we deal Kopech, this is a fact Agreed. I didn't mean to suggest differently.
  11. If they do pull of this move, I think I still shop Abreu and Garcia.
  12. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) Eloy/Moncada/Kopech/Robert/Collins/Hansen should be off limits for sure Not sure how us going for Machado makes sense right now, but I will trust Hahn and Co. (although this has the stench of Kenny Williams) You'd pretty much be buying a 7-month negotiation window. Then you could flip to recover some value in July.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 07:24 AM) Because they are willing to trade assets to get him here to "see the culture", believing that it will trump money. Just remember, his agent got Albert Pujols out of STL, which shocked the world. There are a lot of nice places to play MLB. Money is what talks. If they are prepared to offer him the most money, it makes no sense to trade assets for him now. His agent also got the Votto extension. People say his agent isn't Boras but he might as well be.
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 07:17 AM) The #WhiteSox have no intention of flipping Manny Machado if they land him, they say, insisting he fits into their long-term plans- Nightengale Better get that checkbook out.
  15. You can already kinda tell they don't plan on offering the most money next year if their whole idea of trading for him is they can sell him on culture and stuff like that for a year.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 07:13 AM) This makes sense and was my original plan/scenario. However, the more I think about it, I think trading him at the deadline would be counter-productive unless it were to a team with no chance of extending him. You'd pretty much be paying for a 7-month negotiation window. He can bring back a top 100 prospect at the deadline. Other rentals have throughout the years.
  17. Orioles have no control about the beyond part and if you're trading the one year of Machado, you're not going to be good anyway for it to matter what team he is on in 2018.
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:46 AM) https://twitter.com/danclarksports/status/941278096354787328 It could work out to where we are essentially trading an arm or two for a bat or two. Something that people seem to think happens but doesn't with prospects.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:33 AM) I dunno guys. I’m just confused as to why so many of you think it would be such a foregone conclusion to sign this guy cold in FA. I'd rather try at that point than give up anything now for him. Not a foregone conclusion they will resign him.
  20. If they get him, I think they would do what it takes to extend him before the start of the season. I'm nervous about the risk though.
  21. Also didnsome research earlier and saw that Manny has always been open to an extension with the O's but they were just far apart in negotiations. Not like other cases where you hear said player doesn't want to talk extension and intends on going to free agency.
  22. Hypothetical question: whats the most you'd give up with an extension window? 2 arms and Burger (as he wouldn't really be needed)?
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:11 AM) I take this as a good sign that these guys aren’t in the trade. Still don’t see how we have a “leading offer”’without one of Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Rodon, or Hansen in the mix. So question for Soxtalk, who would you rather give up as the centerpiece in a trade for Machado: Rodon, Lopez, or Hansen? Thats tough but at this point, probably Rodon.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 05:42 AM) According to the Athletic article they can have one of Giolito, Kopech but not both. This is pretty insane if it happens. I really don't know why they believe having him play there willl get him signed , and not lessens their chances. Money talks. If they think he will love,Ricky Renteria so much he will accept a lowball offer, they need to be replaced. If you are going to make,us,sit through a rebuild, follow.theough, and come up with an offer next winter. If they do this and it fails, heads should roll. Agreed with everything here. Not worth the risk.
  25. If they deal for him, they better be ready to open up the check book.
