QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) I will never understand people who get so much joy out of I told you so. Yep, childish.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:50 AM) Owens is 25 in July and just got demoted to AA https://www.overthemonster.com/2017/6/26/15...-red-sox-minors His control is awful. I certainly want to move Frazier, but we can get more interesting prospects than Swihart and Owens. Why help the Red Sox and get garbage back? Low level guys with some upside would be a much better move. From who? Like I listed above, there's at least 5 alternative options and not many teams in need of a corner infielder.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Owens and Swihart have little to no value right now though. While the price for Frazier may not be high, I would much rather look for younger players that have some upside instead of 24-25 washed up prospects. Owens is walking 7.8 batters per 9 IP in the minors this season, YIKES! He turns 25 in July. Swihart is 25 and has a .607 OPS in the minors this season. Tons of injury problems in the past. Give me 18-21 year olds with upside any day over those guys It's possible the best they can do is Swihart and Owens though. Sure we'd all rather have the much younger prospects but that may not be up to the White Sox. And you're talking about these guys like they are 28/29 years old. Owens gives you a 24-year old you can try to stick in the rotation after they move guys and call guys up/go to 6-man rotation or see if he can turn into a reliable lefty reliever long-term.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) I'd trade for Frazier if I was a contender needing a 3B. I calculated his expected BABIP a couple of weeks ago and it was over .300 iirc, compared to his current .223. His walks are by far at a career-high, strikeouts close to a career-low and power at his career norms. Just needs a few hits to start dropping in and his triple slash will start to look pretty. I remember the first few weeks of the season, he hit the ball really hard but the ball always found a fielder whether it was right at someone or someone made a nice play on him. If he had 5 more hits right now, his average would be .235 instead of .214.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 11, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Anyone try adding external hard drive to their ps4 yet? So I never got an answer from anyone after the countless times of me asking this. I went ahead and did it. I just went to Best Buy, told them I needed an external hard drive for my PS4, they walked me over to a section that had them, purchased one after price-matching on Amazon. All you do is plug it into your PS4, turn on your PS4, go to notifications and you will receive a prompt telling you to format the external hard drive. Do that and you are done. Easy as that.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) I love/d saladino. He was the one that proved to me that the production that we could get from our not that great AAA replacement players wasn't that different than the 1-year deal vets we kept stuffing the roster with. He 100% maximized his baseball talent level. I also don't think I ever intimated that he was more than a very useful player that played 3 positions well and showed surprising power and baseball IQ that stood apart. We didn't need to sign gordon beckham or bonifacio anymore. But a player like that also has no room for error unfortunately. And I just think backs are more likely than not to really disrupt play. Yeah back issues are no fun and seem to linger and end guys' careers sooner.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) Congrats on the debilitating back injury. Good point.
-
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) A lot of guys here fell in love with him, but most of the smarter minds took Saladino for what he is: a solid utility player. You win some you lose some. I'm sure you've been wrong more than you've been right. Edit: I've actually only ever said he could probably be a starting 2B/SS on a stacked offensive team that could carry his glove in the 9-spot.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:45 AM) Really liking the Hanson pickup. Preseason ranked #80 prospect in baseball on the KATOH statistical projection list ( http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/katohs-2017...-100-prospects/ ), and (not that it's particularly wise focusing on a team slash rather than a season slash) .370/.451/.519 with the White Sox. High floor due to baserunning and positional versatility. Sox have a few of these guys but he looks like an MLB-calibre super-utility guy to me. Play him everywhere this year and see if he can at least stick in the MLB as a Pablo Ozuna type.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) Swihart has no trade value at this point, he cannot stay healthy and his production has been terrible. He's 25 years old and not getting any younger as well. I'd much rather look for younger players that still have upside. While I agree that we should target younger players, the price on Frazier likely won't be high. Not a lot of teams need a 3B and there are alternative options (Lowrie, Neil Walker could move back to 3B, Kendrick, Nunez, Cozart, Solarte, Freese). It would also be pointless to keep him.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:50 AM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/06/28/jos...kees-white-sox/ "There were 10 clubs watching Quintana pitch Wednesday evening at Guaranteed Rate Field, where Quintana fired 6 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed two hits and four walks while striking out six in his team’s 4-3 win."

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:35 AM) The good news is the AL wild card race is wide open, so I don't envision Archer & Darvish being made available unless those teams really fall apart. I don't think those other pitchers really impact Q's market. Quintana is a legit TOR starter and cost-controlled, providing a much different short-term & long-term value proposition than those other three guys. Gray is really the only comparable player I can think of and he comes with one less year of control and hasn't shown the durability Quintana has. Having said that, even with both guys available this should still be a seller's market. I still think one of the Yankees or Astros ultimately lands him and that most of us will happy with the package. He just needs to keep pitching well and the market will be there. Rangers have also said they don't want to trade Darvish and hope to extend him. That can change however.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:01 AM) How anybody could give the rebuild a 10 is beyond me. Until the guys we got in the Sale deal prove they are good major leaguers I'll stick with a grade of 2. Ditto the guys in the Eaton deal. Because we are being asked to rate a rebuild 3 months in, which is always ridiculous in itself. Ask again in 3 years.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:14 AM) There were rumors about Montero being a terrible teammate in Arizona so it's not surprising. Arrieta is a douche though, so I'm glad he said it. A douche for working slow? Lots of pitchers work slow to the plate.

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) So is Ian Happ just off the table now because he got called up? He shouldn't be off the table.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Perhaps Pirates farm system has largely taken a dump this season. Newman sporting a .628 OPS and Meadows (injured) with a .671 is pretty weak. Keller has been good, but has also dealt with injury issues. I'm glad we never got a Q to the Pirates deal done, I think we would have ended up regretting it. I think the Pirates are also ok not doing the deal. Those guys could bounce back the rest of this season or even next but they need more than Q to compete this season.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) He hasn't taken a swing yet in North American baseball. 2020 would have him debut at 20. That seems pretty quick to me, but then again, if he is as good as has been advertised, that might be possible. My guess would be more like 2022 or so. 22 years old....that seems reasonable.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) If we intended to compete, Avi would also likely have been gone. I think it's actually fair to say that most of our most productive players (Kahnle, Swarzak, Leury, Yolmer, etc.) may not be here or have gotten a shot. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) Nor Davidson as another bat would have been brought in to DH Excellent points.

QUOTE (Yoda @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) This is just my advice, learn to live and be happy by yourself. Between the ages of 22-25 I was working a consistent work schedule: Tue-Sat. So of course everyone wants to be with their family or significant other on a Sunday and everyone is back at work on Monday's. But, I HAD some great times going out to the city on a Sunday evening, meeting new people, having a girl swing by every now and then and some time to just myself. I'm a dad now and I feel happy being with my gf and 6 month old. The whole friend thing I don't really miss cause I guess I never really had much of it. And no, I'm not a loner. I will occasionally have friends swing by and they understand since I don't have the liberty to just go out without having to take the baby with. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) My girlfriend is a resident at Lurie downtown averaging 80 hrs a week, meanwhile i work 40 hrs a week in the burbs. The timing can be really tough but I completely understand. Luckily I'm pretty good being happy by myself. I'm taking a two week road trip to the west coast in July by myself. Last year did the same thing to the East coast. Everything in my life feels great, outside of my current job situation. Yeah I'm perfectly fine with my alone time. I have stuff to do to keep myself occupied. It's usually my videogame, go for a bike ride, watch baseball or a tv series or movie time (and even gym time lately haha). It's just disappointing when you do want to go out. And going off what you're saying Sonik, about your trips by yourself, I'm thinking about going to Vegas later in the year for a just a couple days by myself haha Vegas trips are the kinda trips where you get split it from the people you came with for most of the trip anyway (at least my experiences).

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) I want Moncada in CF, but MI's without power don't really play well at other positions unless they are in center. His arm would play, but his place really needs to be up the middle. I'd prefer Maitan because he's a guy that is a few years away and can potentially play SS if TA doesn't pan out, or else potentially move to 3b. I'd like Maitan, but not as the center piece. Way too young and inexperienced to be the center piece in a Q deal.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) Yeah, I mean I generally agree with you, but the middle of the infield is the one spot where we really don't have a need. Agreed about them not wanting to move him anyways. Can always convert middle infielders into outfielders since they are athletic enough. And are we all convinced that Moncada will lock down 2B with his defense? Or will he be one of those guys who breaks in as a MI but ends up in the OF?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:51 PM) The only place that happens is 8 miles north of here. I meant us fans have complained about the product on the field showing that we do care.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Hahn sure knows how to stay popular ... by satisfying the trade-crowd. He has the best job in Chicago. Nobody cares about the crap he and KW have put on the field they only care about future names and future trades. All of the guys are available? Well, out of all of the guys on the MLB club the only players anybody will want are Abreu, Robertson, Q, Avisail Garcia and Anderson and they probably are not trading Avi, Abreu or Anderson. Seriously, where have you been the past 5 years? The fans care about the crap on the field exhibit: 2013-2016 seasons.

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) If they're willing to start a package with Acuna, they'd immediately move toward the head of the line. He's tearing up AA as a 19-year-old (.324/.378/.482 at the moment). Who else do the Braves have hitting-wise in their system? I feel like they will have interest but I'm not sure they will end up dealing a package built of mostly hitting. I will accept their interest though.
