QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) 100%. If Kahnle can go 13/15 in saves in August in September and finish with FIP and K numbers anywhere near where they are now he's a serious asset going into the offseason. Rabbit, Now that the "Trade Winds" forum is open, you have tidbits for us? haha

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
Bob Sacamano replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) yes, he really made it sound like talks were dead because of the ownership veto of the previous deal. Yeah and the fact that Robertson's value has increased. -

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) Yah, he said they hadn't talked in awhile. But I take all that stuff with a grain of salt. Minimum, I want to see Kieboom + Luzardo. But I bet Ricky is still asking for Soto +, and he should be (for now). I'm starting to think other pieces in our pen like Swarzak are a better fit for them from us. -

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) I'd be pretty disappointed with Ward and Luzardo at this point. Same. I assume they could do better but I don't think it'll be the Nationals' top guys. Like I said above, if I were working for the Nats, I would target more control if I had to deal away top guys for help. Wasn't it Olney recently who said he thinks a deal between the 2 probably won't happen? Where else could Robertson potentially go? Yankees? Rangers if they start heating up over the next 3 weeks? Dodgers just to add another big piece (similar to the Cubs last year)? -
Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:19 AM) True, but I hope it's not the Sox asking for one of those 2 because it's not realistic and not happening. Probably close to the original deal agreed upon this off-season but with more salary relief for the Sox (eating less/no money) thus, making it a better deal. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) If teams want Robles/Soto, I could see why the Nats are aiming higher than Robertson. Good point. Cheaper and controllable through 21. I know if I'm trading my top guys, I want more control than 1 year and 2 months. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) 100%. There is no way Todd Frazier is a White Sox on August 1. Agreed. Even if the best offer isn't great, you gotta pull the trigger. For the sake of getting anything back and opening a spot for someone else on the roster.
-
It makes sense to trade him for anything by 7/31 than let him go for nothing other than salary relief in the weeks after.
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 06:51 AM) So where are some legitimate fits for these 2? Frazier: Red Sox Melky: I would have said Jays before but they appear to be selling. Same with Giants.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 10:21 PM) Exactly. If you were fan of a buyer, would you accept your team acquiring Melky Cabrera? There's absolutely no reason to acquire him. He'll kill a contender defensively and he's an average hitter. He's not exactly fast either. Yes, I would accept my team buying Melky. If you're a fan of a team with a black hole in lf defensively and with the bat, why wouldn't you want him? Especially when the price will be low.

July 5th Game Thread: White Sox at Oakland A's
Bob Sacamano replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2017 Season in Review
We're playing against a team that is going to be close to the bottom along with the Sox. These few losses could be the difference between the Sox drafting one spot in front of or behind them. -
QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) I can see that...but I don't know...I might want to use someone from my own system before I gave up a prospect to get someone from someone else's team to save my starters. I'd rather plug in a AAA prospect occasionally to get him some MLB experience. Plus I would have to have a pretty big lead to have that luxury. It could happen though. Happened before. Yeah for sure. I don't think it will either but it could for a very minimal price. I almost suggested the Dodgers as an option but they would seem so unlikely with all that depth haha
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) I still like him as a CF 100% time more logical than switching to catcher lol
-
A team could buy a Holland or Pelfrey even to just help get through the second half (for example: you want to give some young starters some rest). Not that you would get anything significant of value but say like a PTBNL.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 11:10 PM) Defensively he's a disaster at ss. I'd send him down, teach him to take pitches and see if he can become a catcher. I'd take .260, 19 homers, 79 ribbies which appear to be his ceilings, at the catcher position. This has to be trolling right? The idea that anyone can just become a catcher and be smart enough baseball wise to do so.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) From National fan forum: "If I were Rizzo, I'd send a memo out to the 29 MLB GM's saying this: "Alright, you all know our bullpen sucks here in Washington. Let me make this really simple for you... I'm going to trade away any 5 prospects of your choice + Adam Eaton. I want 3 of your best relievers. I'll take the best offer any team makes. Thanks for your time." Sincerely, Mike Rizzo. If this happens, we win the World series and who cares about the next 10 years." Nationals fans know this is their best World Series chance in a generation this season and next, and they seem to be willing to do anything it takes to help the bullpen. Robles might not be off the table as much as we think come the deadline. I'm sure other fans grilled him immediately. -
2017 Offseason White Sox News, Notes, and Tweets thread
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) Let me put it this way with Tatis... Player A: .274 .360 .466 .827 in A ball. 90K in 296 AB Player B: .278 .336 .484 .819 in A ball. 90K in 273 AB One is a bust because of K rate, the other is a Super Prospect. Duh because we traded one. That means the front office has no idea what they're doing. -
QUOTE (Soha @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) For the record - I was thinking of something along the lines of 3 years for 7 mil. That would be $2.33 mil per. To me that sets him for life, and at the same time is minimal risk from the White Sox end. But yeah, trade him if someone offers something decent up. I don't see any way he would agree to such a small amount lol

All Star Game No Longer Determines Home Field in WS
Bob Sacamano replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Since fans vote and influence the starting lineup, it shouldn't count. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Define song please And you don't think Swarzak could net an organizational top 25 prospect? I would say PTBNL.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) Wife? Upton and Verlander got married? Not yet I don't think. Engaged though.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) Based on our minor league position player talent being a couple years away I would strongly consider resigning both We have guys who can cover LF and 3B next year though.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) What have you heard? Huh? I don't think he is implying he heard anything.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 04:45 PM) For those with a typical 9-5, is anyone else working Monday? I assumed, wrongly, that my office would be closed. We just got the internal memo saying we're open. I'm kinda pissed about that. If Christmas falls on a Tuesday, we don't work Monday. Pretty sure the same goes for New Years. We got an email a few weeks ago from CEO saying we are closed so we had time to plan trips.
