Projected Arbitration Salaries for 2018
QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 08:55 AM) In my opinion, I think Putnam gets non-tendered, then resigned for a cheaper price... Even though he is an injury risk, it's worth gambling on him at, say, around 800k. I know we need arms, but I really hope Petricka isn't back. Get him out of here. Knowing the Sox, he may be a guy they non-tender and try and do a MLC on. That I'd feel better about, but still. Putnam is missing most of next year so I think he will be non-tendered and signed to a minor league deal.

NLDS: Cubs vs. Nationals
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) Exactly, your two best relievers didn't even pitch in a super-tight playoff game where your starter left in the 7th. Splits got in the way of letting your best players play. Yeah and I get that Doolittle is the closer but c'mon, dude has to face Rizzo in that situation.

NLDS: Cubs vs. Nationals
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) It's one thing to pull Scherzer, but to bring in Solis/Perez instead of Doolittle/Madson? Why did you trade for these relievers if you aren't going to use them in the biggest spots? I thought the same. Granted they still would have countered with Almora if you bring Doolittle in to face Schwarber but he should have come on to face Rizzo. And if he gets that out, he could come in the 9th.

Projected Arbitration Salaries for 2018
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/10/proj...s-for-2018.html For the White Sox: Al Alburquerque (5.030) – $1.1MM Avisail Garcia (4.167) – $6.7MM Zach Putnam (4.135) – $1.4MM Jake Petricka (4.044) – $1.1MM Jose Abreu (4.000) – $17.9MM Danny Farquhar (3.136) – $1.5MM Leury Garcia (3.025) – $1.2MM Carlos Rodon (2.168) – $2.0MM Yolmer Sanchez (2.134) – $2.1MM A couple of these guys likely won't be back (AL-AL, Putnam, Farquhar). This also may end up being a little off when it's all said and done but still, a close estimate.

NLDS: Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 05:44 AM) Dodgers v Indians - coming soon. I'm hoping for Astros v Nats at this point but not looking good on the NL side.

NLDS: Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers
Well Dodgers sweep...f***. Guess I'll have to root for them depending on what happens in the other series lol

NLDS: Cubs vs. Nationals
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 12:45 AM) Are you allowed to have such a dream while simultaneously "Greging" all over any rebuild thread that pops up? Well... to be fair, I do suppose that is indeed a part of "Greging" after all. That's what i thought too! This is exactly what the Sox are trying to accomplish.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) The trade should have been Benitendi, Moncada, Kopech, and Devers. #fail ( this is a joke - of course. ) I would have needed to change my pants at least twice if that deal happened haha

ALDS: Red Sox vs. Astros
QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) Farrell ejected by Wegner. Ha. What in the hell are you doing, WEGNER!?!?!?!

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Not sure how to feel about today's game. Watch Jake throw a gem. I could wrong. I will bet you a million dollars Jake doesn't throw a gem today

What do you take from the 2017 season?
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 03:29 AM) The great thing about that is there are about 5-7 other legitimate starter options in the White Sox minor leagues that you don't even have listed. Dunning, Cease, Clarkin, Adams, Fulmer, Guerrero, Stephens all have starter potential as well, and I think I may even be missing some on that list. Yep...some will succeed as starters, some will succeed in the bullpen, some won't succeed in either role and if you have a lot of them succeed, you can trade from quantity.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Oct 8, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) What does a pitching win tell you about anything? Well, considering at least one pitcher records a win every game, I would say it tells you a team won the game. That's my smartass answer to your comment anyway.

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) I haven't read the stories. Can somebody summarize this for us? Sox have little to no chance of signing this guy because "............." I am 'assuming' it's cause we just spent all that dough on Robert and aren't allowed to bid much and we can't even compete in the ballpark $$ wise. Is that correct? If this is the case ... wouldn't it have been smarter to go for this guy instead of Robert? Isn't this guy pretty much a can't miss pitching/hitting star? Going for Robert made more sense with teams limited to spend in that period.

Your Ideal Postseason
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) Thanks. I'm surely rooting for them to dismantle the Cubs but after that I'd much rather see either NL West opponent represent in the big dance. Well, on second thought - I suppose I'd rather see the Nats than the Diamondbacks. I hate the Dodgers for the same reason I don't like the Red Sox and Yankees minus the actual winning of titles lol

Your Ideal Postseason
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) What's with the Nats love on this board? I'm honestly ok with the D-Backs or Nats on the NL side.

White Sox outright 5 to Charlotte
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Was Swarzak signed to a minor or major league deal? I forget off the top of my head. He's what I had in mind when I said sign a few guys. I think minor league. Random note, but Kevin Siegrist was released the other day. They should gamble on him on a minor league deal.

**2017 Films Thread** (Beware of spoilers)
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) One thing to keep in mind if you are going to go on back to back days, pick the earlier film first. There is a one a day, but also a 24 hour waiting period. That's what you had mentioned before. Thanks for the heads up.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) He's a great pitcher who had a bad game. Anything other than that is a pure meatball. Yep.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) I love me some Chris Sale. His antics may have been a bit annoying, but he loved playing on the south side and seemed like a very loyal teammate. I will never root against him to justify the trade we made. Me neither but due to the team he is on, it's similar to Q for me where I want him to do well personally but want a first round exit from the Red Sox.

White Sox outright 5 to Charlotte
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Probably but hanson stayed largely due to being able to play all 3 OF position. It made it easier to keep him since he I think played all positions except 1b/C at least once. And Peter can play those same positions (minus maybe CF, which Leury or Engel can play...whoever is on the bench).

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) I don't think he's a scared pansy at all. I think he was overworked, and his emotions (anger) got the better of him. We've seen the emotions with him, on and off the field. Hopefully he'll get a chance to pitch again this year. I don't understand why people even think this way. "He's scared" "he doesn't have balls", etc. I don't think players are scared of pitching/playing in the playoffs. A young player may have nerves and he may jittery but thats not being scared. Maybe the guy's arm is tired. He is also going against a great offense.
