  1. Definitely voted Hawkins as a joke. But a serious vote for me would be selling low on Q so the first choice there.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) This is going to be one of those things where I had no idea who Florial was 2 days ago and now I'm going to be demanding he included in any deal! Yep...you see a name, do some research and look at his stats/age/scouting reports and you just want him. That's happened too much with me over the past year lol
  3. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) In fairness, nobody, including myself, saw Judge performing at this level. Yeah most people including the guys who analyze players/prospects for a living really just had him penciled in as a low batting average, high power, lots of Ks type of player. He could ultimately just end up being that over his career, though.
  4. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) I see that we are back to Q to the Yankees chatter. I remember back when these talks were going on in the Winter and people were saying how Aaron Judge wouldn't cut it as a headliner in any deal for Q. Oh my how things have changed... I don't see Cashman trading away his prospects. The Yanks are ahead of schedule. They will just buy pitching in the offseason. I could see them buying a rental without having to give up their top prospects.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Avi is probably pretty low on the Sox list of priorities to trade right now. He's young enough to stick around through a rebuild and possibly be a piece for the future. I do not think he is as good as he has played, but I also think he is in better shape and has improved. Unless the trade offers were strong I would not move him. The only reason I'm so open to dealing him is his 2 years of control. Like I said in a different Avi thread, wait at the very least a full year to maybe extend him. Ideally, wait a few months into next season and if he doesn't want to sign, trade him in next summer. Unless of course, a team wants to give you a package based on the value of his current season in hope that this is what he is now.
  6. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) I'm down for Frazier + Adams + Florial for sure, but Mateo gives me pause. What about Frazier, Adams, Florial and Andujar (who seems like a guy who is blocked currently)?
  7. Justin Wilson and Ryan Madson are two other bullpen targets for the Nats, according to Rosenthal.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) I don't think a whole lot of people who be disappointed with that. The problem is the odds of it happening are virtually non-existent. Agreed.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Yeah, 100% this. I don't see anyone paying an All-Star price for Avi, but if they do you take it and run. But honestly, every day he keeps this up until the deadline, the more likely a team will come calling. Exactly. And we didn't want George Springer last year because he had like 4+ years control remaining. Why should we keep Avi with only 2?
  10. If he had more of a track record and more than 2 years of control, I'd say keep him. But if a team offers you the value of his current level of production, trade in a heartbeat.
  11. I'd be more inclined to keeping him if he had over 2 years of control. Trade him.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) Well you continue to post the same thing, despite the fact that the team and the manager are clearly frustrated. We all f***ing know they don't have to do anything. Guess what? There is no rule that says you have to try to win in professional sports, ever. The point is that even watching from the outside, you can see the facade is starting to show signs of stress due to their bullpen blowing nearly every. single. game. But yes, we all know, they do not have to do anything. I never said they didn't have to make a move to win post season. Go back and look. That was never the point I was trying to make. They don't have to do anything...yet. They can wait for more teams to fall out of contention and more options to be available. 10 game lead in standings...they'll wait a bit.
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:38 PM) The division sucking is one thing, but not adding substantial relief help would be a major problem for the nats me That pen of not playoff worthy. Again...I know...
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) Eh, any move they make is going to be for October. They could probably win the division with you and I closing. But in the playoffs they will need guys like Robertson. Well I know that by my point was that they haven't quite hit the urgency to make the move for an arm due to their lead.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) I hope Q throws 8 shutout innings an a no decision loss... starting a 5 game losing streak. Yep...
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) Nah, it's no big deal...they have that big divisional lead! Technically you're correct until they don't have that big lead. I get you're being sarcastic but still correct.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) We only have 3 bench guys? Been that way for a while.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Bryce Harper may kill someone Saw that video of him looking very frustrated after the bullpen blew another game.
  19. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) Yeah I agree, Torres has been playing 3B extensively at AAA and even with Jacoby locked up for a long time I think the yankees will likely be in a similar situation as the dodgers were with Crawford where he plays as a 20mil a year 4th OF, Frazier is just about ready. I also think with the trades coming up, the sox after this polished draft can afford to be "bold" and target younger players like Rutherford to help reinforce future waves of talent; I would hate to see them lose talent in a similar fashion as the Astros by being forced to move off of JD Martinez and get nothing in return, because top performing prospects are knocking loudly on the door. Yankees have that open DH spot as well that could go to a rotation between 4 OFs (mainly Ellsbury).
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) Lmao, if James Shields is what turns Giolito around. Why would that be funny or a surprise? James Shields is a respected veteran with a good MLB career under his belt.
  21. QUOTE (kwill @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) If we trade him I want an Andrew Miller Type return with 2 top 100 and a lottery ticket coming back. He is in the class of Chapman, Kimbrel, and Miller. You can make the case he does not close and has not done it for as long but you can see the adjustment he made and the stuff has always been there. If you truly believe that he is legit than you don't settle for anything less. Willie Calhoun is a nice bat but he does not have a position and plays in Vegas which inflates the Home Run Totals. You need teams with deep farms to be interested to get those types of returns.
  22. If I had $10 million at my current age of 26? Finish paying off my car, put a nice down payment on a nice house probably in the Bolingbrook/Woodridge/Romeoville area (doesn't have to be a huge mansion or anything), invest some thousands of it, put probably over half in the bank and do some traveling to some countries I've never been to. I wouldn't stop working although I would probably take a year off of work and then find a job after haha
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 03:36 PM) It hasn't been said yet by the organization, but I really would bet money that their willing to pick up a large chunk of money in a deal went down a lot with the signing of Luis Robert. That is a $50 million check that Jerry and the partners have to write now. Are they going to be willing to write another $10 million check to Washington? Eh, I can't see it. The cost is only sunk if the assumption is that they couldn't take less in a trade to get someone to take the contract. Either way, they are set to pay him the remainder of his contract if they don't move him. So might as well eat as much as you are willing possible to get a couple good prospects out of it.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) Not sure at this point, for the same reasons that were argued for him not bringing back a top prospect - maybe not enough history there. In the sense you extend him now/at some point this season and then try to move him in the off-season or next year's deadline. It would look weird to extend him now only trade him in a month. They'd probably extend him and let him try to gain more of a track record. The price certainty I was referring to would be keeping his cost lower than what he could make in arbitration like you already know how much he's guaranteed so you can budget accordingly.
