QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Can the Cubs afford that with Heyward on the books? He can opt-out after next year (or the following year) but appears to be on track to staying. Anything can change though.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) Jon HeymanVerified account @JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago icymi, cubs approached bryant about long deal this winter. but the conversation was extremely short. Cubs: "We'd like to sign you to a long-term deal." Boras whispering to Bryant: "Say no." Bryant: "No thank you." Done.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) If they believed in him I'd be fine with it. Stupid and simple post but if Burger turns into a power-hitting 3b then he's obviously worth it. -> saying my post is very obvious analysis. I don't worry as much about "reaching" (unless we are talking about KW) in the MLB draft because it's not like you actually have the option to trade down. Dude has hit well in college.
-
Could Burger be a good pick at 11 if it is believed he will stick at 3B long-term and he is the best bat available at that time and will sign for under-slot?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) It is now June. Realistically there will start to be some trades happening in the next few weeks or so, and then the pace will quicken. As that starts to happen, I think you will start to see the first of the next wave start to arrive on the southside, and the losses will start to come a little more often. After the draft, hopefully there will be some activity on our rental starters (Gonzalez, Holland) and maybe some of the relievers.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) I don't think you dfa or otherwise give up on Frazier, who just last year smacked 40 homers. He has a good history whereas we now want to annoint Davidson as the replacement after two months. Remember his poor play of the last two years. A dh and 3b switch with Todd and Matt makes sense DH Frazier? Screw that. If anything you DH Jose more and let Davidson and Frazier get at bats between 1B and 3B.

Gerald Posey....no wonder he goes by Buster lol I guess he could go with Gerry. Gerry Posey though...

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Beck is 18/5 K/BB in 19 innings with a 2.84 ERA and a 17.6 HR/FB%. Sox shining some turds this year.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 11:27 AM) Players in the Cubs dugout last year thought Russell would be the best player on their squad. The media bought and ran with it. So, maybe not a bust, but definitely disappointing. Well for the most part, they over-hype everyone lol they over-hyped a third string catcher haha
-
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) That may be true, but expectations were much higher than what you're projecting. I don't disagree with you, but that's a borderline bust. Not really. If he's playing great defense at a position where you want that kinda d and he hits 20+ homers a year that's pretty damn good. Since you're a WAR guy, he put up a 4.3 WAR season describing exactly what was said above: great D, 21 homers, and under .250 avg. Sure more is expected of him, but he's nowhere near a bust.

We're what, 11 days away?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Carrot Top QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) Probably someone like Dustin Diamond or Carrottop. Ah, yes. Makes sense.

I do like the idea of bundling some of those rental guys for sure.

At first I thought "who would be the male equivalent of doing this be?" I first thought Adam Sandler but then realized, he was at least relevant before while Kathy Griffin isn't even a has been. More like a "never was."

Hanley refusing to play 1B kinda forced the Red Sox to promote Travis and keep him on the bench as a platoon guy. I think he should be in the minors playing every day. Todd Frazier can definitely help spell Moreland against lefties while allowing for Travis to get everyday at bats in the minors. They would just have to roll with another right-handed hitting infielder to plug in at 3B on those days.

QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 02:59 AM) I honestly feel we're going to get a similar return the red sox got from us when they moved Kevin Youkilis, and I could see us dealing him to the red sox. Frazier for Blake Swihart and Darwinzon Hernandez or Trey Ball it mirrors Brent Lillibridge and Zach Stewart for Youkilis. Yeah probably something along those lines.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 31, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) Ha, I like the story about Todd listening to trade rumors from his buddies, and telling them if he actually paid attention to such things, he'd be batting about .100. Guess you have to establish new bars for shiftiness when you're Todd Frazier. Lol thought the same

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 31, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/870032225844293633 @scotgregor Sounds like there is some #WhiteSox news coming in 15-20 minutes. Stay tuned Big promotion coming? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2017 -> 12:24 AM) So Kathy Griffin the comic thought it was wise/funny to hold a severed bloodied head (fake of course) of Trump in a photo shoot that was all over TMZ and other outlets. The head was pretty grotesque as in the video portion of the shoot, the head is dripping fake blood, etc., pretty gross and the immediate response of anybody with a brain is it's very unappealing to the eye. Some might even conjure images of ISIS beheading people. If you can even call her that.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 31, 2017 -> 01:11 AM) Just imagine the uproar if a conservative would have done this with Obama's head. I saw a tweet that is true for this as well. If Kathy Griffiin wants to shock people she should try to actually be funny. Beat me to it.

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 31, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) They should hold onto him until they get a deal that is worth his value. The way it's going you are probably correct, unless he has a stellar second half. His value will be less at 2018 deadline than the value he was worth this past off-season (2.5 years vs 4 years) so if he is pitching good, maybe a team could meet the adjusted price.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 31, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) Still think we can net Frazier ++ for Q from the Yankees. Better start pitching better. I do wonder if Frazier is expendable with Ellsbury in either LF or CF beyond this year (under contract for 4 more years) and then Judge in a corner spot.

Hope for the best the next 2 months. Next few starts should be against the Rays, Indians, Blue Jays, Twins and then Yankees. Can change of course if they alter the rotation, guys come back from injuries, other injuries occur, etc.
