  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 19, 2017 -> 12:47 AM) El Rockin is the "best fan" on this site. He's saying a good fan does not want his team to lose, not calling anybody out. Look this is a modern thing rooting for your own team to lose, started by Sixers and their fans. This tanking thing is a new phenomenon and a lot of us think it is UNHEARD of to want your team to lose, that's all. Therewas a story literally yesterday that Mark Cuban wad hoping for losses for his own team when he realized they weren't going to make the playoffs to get a better lottery position.
  2. I think one of Soto/Kieboom and a couple lesser prospects could get it done. I don't how much money exchanges hands though. I guess that is assuming Nats take on remainder.
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 18, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) You're right in that he's not in their category but he has to be the top reliever on the market? Unless the Rays decide to make Colome available. He's been pretty good.
  4. We need to deal with a team rich in prospects/youth as well. That's the difference between the Yankees and Indians/Cubs deals and the Sox potentially dealing with the Nationals.
  5. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 18, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) No... Q is a long term solution. He has a few cheap years left on his contract. Most of the other pitchers available are rental players that are a short term solution. Meaning they will cost significantly less.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ May 18, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) Ha, that's pretty incredible. Teams thought to be competitive going into the year that started off cold are playing good right now.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:51 PM) https://mobile.twitter.com/FPiliereD1/statu...942738298609664 Damn.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:26 PM) Yep, and it crippled the back end of the Royals' pen. With Holland and Davis both gone, the rest of their relievers have been bumped up in their roles or overexposed. Plus Soria has been a terrible signing from the very beginning. On paper, it made sense for KC, but the reality is Soler's health and defensive shortcomings mitigate most of his positive value. Epstein's probably kicking himself he didn't try to pull off that trade last year (when he got Chapman instead), as he'd still have Gleyber Torres. Wade Davis got hurt last year in July I believe. Don't think he was really an option.
  9. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 17, 2017 -> 05:39 PM) I think all fan bases are relatively the same when it comes to things like this. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=19297 Agreed. All fan bases overvalue their prospects to a certain extent.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 17, 2017 -> 04:09 PM) I like Rosenthal rumors. Houston and Pitt match up well for trade partners so who knows. Pirates fans are probably happy they kept their prospects (granted Meadows hasn't been good this year). Definitely need more than Q to be good. No Kang for likely a full year and no Marte for half a season hurts. And Freese always seems to go on the dl consistently.
  11. QUOTE (Moncada @ May 17, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) He is up to 44 now. I got a long way to go t0 catch up to him, I'm at 3 right now. I'm at 6 lol
  12. "Red-hot Astros remain aggressive in their search for more pitching." http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/houston...osenthal-051717
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:06 AM) When LaTroy was with the Cubs, he lived in a building right where LaSalle and Clark meet on the south end of Lincoln Park. My friend lived on the same floor, and LaTroy had 2 apartments. One was just filled with shoes. I guess if you have the money you can totally rent out a second place for storage.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 17, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) Was it just two years ago when Nats blew a big lead and fell out of playoffs? They should make a bullpen trade with someone. I think he was talking about in means of dealing the farm for someone.
  15. I still want do deal with the Yankees. I didn't think it was likely since I didn't think the Yankees would be as competitive as they are (still time to flame out) but they should be interesting to follow over the next 2 months.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) When Moncada comes up, I think 3B will be split mainly between Saladino and Yolmer. They'll both get looks at 2B and SS when Tim and Moncada need breathers. Having too many useful guys isn't a problem. I doubt either will be traded. Both wouldn't have much value, and they're cheap. Makes more sense to keep them unless someone wants to give up something interesting. Also, after Frazier is dealt.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) It doesn't make sense for them to chase a title now considering Harper will walk after 2018? I don't get that logic at all. If anything they should do whatever they can possibly do now to win this year and next. Yeah I don't understand that that logic either. But I do agree with him that I think Nats will be interested in Q but will shy away from the price (likely a lot of teams will).
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2017 -> 12:42 AM) So I have an original Nintendo, power pad, power glove, duck hunt glove and robot, and I was offered 1,000 for all of it tonight. I just couldnt part with it. Kinda feel like you might be able to get more for that.
  19. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ May 16, 2017 -> 05:47 PM) Charlie Tilson nearing a return?? Maybe Shields or Rodon?
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) I don't know if that's true, but he does get a couple weekends off per season. The Sox are in Phoenix next week, so he gets a week straight at home. I feel like it's always Whimpy when they play in Seattle.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) Hawk and Wimpy in Seattle. Any reason why Stone never goes to Seattle?
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) I will go because I love watching the game of baseball. Cheap tickets, easy commute to get there (free parking if you know where to go), good times with friends and family. I can't wait until it is consistently warm out (hopefully this weather is here to stay).
  23. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) I think the cubs are a great partner for the sox. With their starting pitching situation and their prospects it makes too much sense. Is Happ, Jemenez, and Cadelario too much to ask? I do think they match up perfectly as well. And I would definitely start the discussion there.
  24. Indians promote Bradley Zimmer. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/05/indi...rlos-frias.html
