  1. QUOTE (Soha @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) I agree with this, though to me that makes him a better off-season trade candidate. On another note - did you all see the Daily Herald is proposing a Quintana for Schwarber straight up trade? http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20170515...a-for-schwarber Wow that is awful haha a deal with the Cubs starts with Happ and/or Jimenez.
  2. Shoulda picked Trout vs. Pelfrey. That seems like a no-brainer.
  3. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 16, 2017 -> 12:33 AM) Pelfrey and Covey are now a combined 0-7 for the season. Folks those guys are really, really bad. ERA's are 5 1/2 and 8 respectively. Lost again in Anaheim. That's something like 13 of 16 there since 2012. Anaheim is the latest in a long line of Sox "House of Horrors." I know some will say, "the Sox are rebuilding...who cares?" I disagree with that notion. These guys are getting bombed out early night after night putting a major strain on the bullpen. That bullpen includes some guys who may be trade pieces in a few months. If they are overworked, ineffective the Sox won't even be able to get a Single A type prospect for any of them. Personally even in a rebuilding year, I'd rather the Sox promote some borderline kids out of the minor league system who may have a future. Give them a shot and see what if anything they can do. And I'm not talking about the top prospects, let them stay in the minors and learn their craft. The Sox may find a kid or two who actually has a future with the team...we know Covey and Pelfrey have no future. Period. Just my opinion. Guys. Aren't. Ready. I don't get why people are having such a hard time getting this.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) So you have to pick 2 guys to get a hit each night? Or do just 1 of 2 need a hot? If you pick 2, they both need a hit. Double or nothing.
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:34 PM) Carrerra still hitless after leading off the 7th with an out. He may get one more shot in the 9th.....but chances running out. Was an interesting choice.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 15, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) Red Sox aren't giving up Devers...why give up the best prospect you have at a position of need for them? Just don't see it happening... I don't actually either. Read my post again.
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) C'mon, Josh. This was such an obvious waste of financial resources when the trade came down. We were doing the Padres a Huge favor by taking whatshisname off their hands. Granted, Tatis, Jr. had not yet played in the states, but Sox scouted him, paid him a bunch of money, and before we knew it, he is a legitimate prospect. And granted, the name Luis Robert was not yet on our lips, but there was a lot of talk about signing international talent. There were members here who criticized the trade immediately, not necessarily because of the Tatis inclusion, but because of the other half of the trade. Padres are still playing more money. You can look at it as: Padres gave up a ton of money and a draft pick (when they signed Shields) to acquire Tatis.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) How can one wake up to an alarm clock that makes no sounds? I thought about it and it would just be soundbites of Hawk/Benneti/Stone saying his name lol
  9. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:54 AM) Last night, several ESPN folks were babbling about Astros having such a great team and were certain buyers at the July trading deadline. They should definitely trade for Q. Too lazy to look up thrir SP stats (I have Keuchel and McCullers on one fantasy team so I know how they are doing). Can anyone post the rest?
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:13 AM) Count me in for the number retirement ceremony and statue unveiling sometime next season. When can we expect the Cody Asche alarm clock?
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) I said it when it happened and I'll say it now - Diaz as the last piece in the Sale deal is extremely underwhelming. I have no idea why the Sox didn't take a hitter over him. I'm sure they wanted another hitter. At the very least, I wanted a starting pitcher prospect as the 4th piece.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:12 AM) Me either. I'd be shocked if Q went there. Q would be a nice addition for them but that would mean that they'd be giving the White Sox almost their entire system between the Sale/Q deals and I don't think that will happen. Yeah I don't think Q goes to Nats or Red Sox. Robertson to Nats and Frazier to Boston? Sure.
  13. I can't see the Red Sox wanting to give up even more of their prospects. But for discussion purposes, what would a Quintana Frazier package look like? I assume Devers, Groome, Travis to start.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:05 AM) I'll always remember Asche for his perennial contributions to the franchise. He will be missed. We always have the banner to remember those contributions to the tank.
  15. Makes sense. I've been suggesting he could go down for another bullpen arn for at least 2 weeks.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:16 AM) Is it June 12th yet? What does June 12th have to do with Seth Beer?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) Cubs gave up nothing special to get him. Someone like Lowry might have worked. Gave up international slot money as well.
  18. Had to go out of town but wanted to go to this game to get a clock and sell it. Oh well.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) Wish the Sox were more aggressive going after Butler. Much better chance of figuring things out than Covey What would you have traded for him?
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 12, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Think about it from a contender's point of view right now Would you give up anything of significance for Kahnle, even if he continues to be dominant the next month or two? It's still such a small sample size that it would be very hard to justify given his track record Agreed, theres no way anyone would give up anything big for him. Let's see him for a couple full years before writing him into the future bullpen and decide if it was mistake not trading him for anything we could get.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) I don't remember the exact numbers, and I'm sure someone will find the exact numbers for me too, but Burdi has thrown like 100 innings and hasn't experienced a full year of pro ball. I imagine he'll be up at some point this year, but he falls in line with the whole "have a prospect struggle and making adjustments before calling them up." His adjustment is literally going to be pitching for a full season out of a bullpen. He is among the least likely I view to be called up at this point. In fact, I could see them calling him up for September and then waiting until mid May or June of 2018 to call him up full time to gain another full year of control. Among the main prospects, as a full-time call up, I think it'll be Lopez, Fulmer, or Moncada. I'd put my money on Fulmer, but I'm not much of a betting man. I have a feeling it will be Fulmer too. Hopefully the Sox can pull off a deal with Holland or Gonzalez and Fulmer steps into the open slot.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) Surprised to see so many Burdi mentions. Wouldn't be shocked if we don't see him until September. Yeah not really any room for him currently, even with guys hurt.
  23. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) Contract: Free Agent in 2021 Stats are absolutely mindboggling and dominating (best in baseball for xFIP.. currently has a NEGATIVE 0.15FIP) Fangraphs love: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-white-s...-on-the-planet/ So what do we do about this guy going forward? If he truly has figured it out then we have him for when we should be competing again. A back end of Burdi and Kahnle throwing 100mph+ sounds like the bullpen will be dominant for years to come. Of course, hard throwing bullpen arms come at a risk and this start is a small sample size. So what do you hope Rick Hahn does here? Trade him at the deadline or keep him? Hope to trade him for something good. If there aren't any good offers, keep him for now.
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Which might mean that the Nats won't buy until the deadline. There appears to be zero competition in that division, so they only need to load up for the playoffs. Yeah Mets in second place a game under .500. Yuck.
  25. At what point is it considered too soon to add Marte in fantasy and stash him on your bench? I'm thinking about doing this in about 3-4 weeks (unless someone in one of my leagues gambles sooner).
