  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) Junior Noboa...obviously the junior part is the easier match, haha. And he keeps on...godspeed Caulfield...godspeed.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Yes. Name cereals....Caulfield: Captain Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Rice Krispies, Fruity Pepples, pepples reminds me of the Flintstones, which brings me to the question do you know the difference between people in Dubai and people in Abu Dhabi? People in Dubai don't like the Flintstones. People in Abu Dhabi do. Lmfao
  3. QUOTE (daggins @ May 25, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) Counterpoint - whatever they would have gotten then, it will be less now, and even less in the offseason. Maybe. And I know people will say just keep him then but to me that's pointless. If the best move is to keep him, extend him. Although, like i said earlier, we are 2 months away from the deadline and I think his value will be where it was at going into the season.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 25, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) Did you guys see who matches up on Monday afternoon? David Price is starting Monday now. Activated from the dl.
  5. David Price activated off the dl. Starting Monday.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Was waiting for Fathom comments on Eddie Butler vs. Dylan Covey... "Sox should have traded for him." And given up international slot money? Exactly what we are trying to acquire now?
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 25, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Can't remember what the offer was exactly , all could find from Google was somethng from sports mockery ( yeah, I know ) that said Martes, Tucker and Paulino were offered. If true, that's a good offer albeit not optimal as far only getting one hitter back. Solid offer but the would urge passed as well. Best I could find was this. Please don't shoot the messenger. http://sportsmockery.com/2017/01/houston-a...ntana-revealed/ There's limited hitters worthy of going high in the draft so I'm expecting a pitcher to be honest. I hope a hitter like Haseley or Pavin falls but not counting on it. If the BPA @ #11 happens to be a pitcher that's fine with me. I would rather take a pitcher over Adell. Didn't the Sox reject because they wanted Musgrove? I would easily subtract Martes out of that deal if it meant 2 other bats came back.
  8. He has one more start this month and basically 2 full months until the deadline. I think he will be fine.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2017 -> 07:17 AM) Sal Perez and Molina are the only other catchers who are even close to being considered. Mauer is the interesting case with his split career...but he's probably not going to make it either. If his career ended in 2010 like Puckett, he gets in but not anymore since he became an average 1B/DH. Posey is on track I think.
  10. He seems to have a lot of energy and I think that the players could feed off of it. Robin seemed like he didn't have a pulse most of the time and looked like he needed to be waken up a few times in the middle of the game. Also love that he gets in a player's face right away after the player makes a mistake and teaches him as opposed to waiting until after the game (Hawk said that is how Robin handled it).
  11. QUOTE (balfanman @ May 25, 2017 -> 07:35 AM) Generally true, but not when your team is going nowhere for a while. This. This season is figuring out what young guys can do.
  12. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 24, 2017 -> 01:35 PM) If 3B continues to be a complete black hole for the Red Sox then Devers will be starting there within a month or two, I doubt he's on the table. I've been doubting that he will come up this season (maybe mid-next year) but then I remember who they called up last year in September
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) It could have been a "possible" playoff team except for the continued piss poor defense. You've got an outfield of Melky, Eaton and Avi. Only Melky blows and sometimes he is serviceable. You've got Frazier, Anderson, Saladino and Jose Abreu. True, Frazier and Saladino suck but "on paper" a career year from Frazier and last year's hitting from Saladino would have been potentially good. We always said we'd need to acquire a catcher via free agency or trade in a contending scenario. Also DH would have needed an upgrade. Then you got Sale and Q, best 1-2 punch in the division with arguably a lock down closer. You have Rodon and Holland would have been an OK No. 5 with everybody saying one of our minor league phenoms will probably be called up in early June. But to win this division? Certainly the Sox could have contended with Sale and Eaton and some tinkering IF some things fell into place. The team would have had to make the usual 1-3 offseason moves and hope they were significant enough to help the team, though. I will say now that there would be no Holland if they didn't trade Sale. Also, you were saying a month or two ago that they should have gotten another OF. That means Avi wouldn't be on this team.
  14. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 19, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) Tom Hardy is Venom And apparently isn't going to tie into the MCU. They are trying to start a Sony Cinematic Universe with the character rights they own but still might use Tom Holland as Spider-Man. I think it would be dumb to recast him at this point. He can be Spider-Man in both universes and have them not crossover at all, other than when Disney/MCU is doing a Spiderman/Avengers movie. I mean, they still made solo Iron Man, Thor and Captain America post-Avengers so it's possible.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) Who would you choose between Happ and Jimenez...assuming they don't want Schwarber or the Cubs won't discount him? Baez would fit nicely if they had to move Anderson off SS, but that's a long ways from happening still. He'd be 3b for the White Sox. Schwarber has what, 4 years of control after this season? Not really a fan of that. I would want both Happ and Jimenez but that would likely mean one other prospect comes along with them instead of a deal centering around Happ OR Jimenez plus 3 or 4 guys.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2017 -> 11:42 PM) I was listening to Royals game and they were saying how some pitcher, I forget which one, wouldn't be elected to the Hall cause he didn't have near enough wins. WAIT a minute! I thought in the new sabes era wins mean NOTHING. So sabes people. No more starting pitchers get in the Hall again? Unless they have some ridiculous amount of strikeouts? Or the Hall will only be for relievers with the good new-wave Sabes stats? People can't have it both ways. Do wins mean nothing or not? Are voters still going to look at wins for Hall of Fame selection? A lot of starters have been denied the Hall cause of the old stats WINS vs LOSSES. Should all pitchers who got excluded for not being near 300 wins be re-assessed in the era of Sabes? I mean, think about all the pitchers who are in the Hall because of wins and I've been told by the Sabes people wins mean NOTHING. Hmmm. This is nothing compared what Hawk said about Fernando Rodney lol
  17. You guys realize hes only starting because Rodon and Shields are both out, right? With a string of good Lopez starts, he may be up soon.
  18. I've earned a ton of respect for Anibal Sanchez.
  19. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 23, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) Luzardo could be an interesting guy coming off TJS, agreed. I would want to see a better piece than Ward coming back as well. Ward is by no means bad, but questions remain about his ability to stick defensively at third base and he is a well below average runner. His hitting has been solid at AA ball so far this season, but if he cannot stick at third defensively then his bat and power really need to play up for him to have value. Hell, with Robertson's value rising, it might take 3 maybe 4 pieces to move him meaning Ward can still fit as a third or fourth piece. Granted, there also may be other good relievers available.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSide2004 @ May 23, 2017 -> 07:21 AM) Good god dude you are one arrogant dude. What does any of that have to do with being a straight white male? The only thing your privilege has allowed you to do is become a full time social justic warrior and part time terrible film maker. The fact you've confused genetically predisposed physical traits like good looks, athletic abilities, & singing voice with privilege shows just how out of touch from reality you are. I literally thought the same. He can be a "good looking straight black male who does very well with the ladies, was always good at sports, was the best singer/actor/performer in my high school and college, excelled at most things I did, eagle scout, etc etc etc." Good looking straight black males who do very well with ladies and are good at sports or a good singer actor or performer exist lol
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 23, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) I think Jose Abreu is a guy who has more value to us than he has to the rest of the league. First base production is actually way up this year league-wide (so far), and even a team with a big hole there will only pay so much for what is essentially average-ish production from the position. For us though, he's a really mature and likeable guy for the fans, he's a calming and popular leadership presence in the clubhouse, he's a role model and familiar face to our top Cuban prospects, and he's paid fairly. Certainly, if someone wants to overpay, we'd have to consider, but I'd plan on keeping him around for the duration, honestly. Avi, on the other hand -- if he keeps this up into trade season and someone is willing to pay for THIS YEAR'S production, we should ABSOLUTELY try to cash in. But I think that any acquiring team is going to look at the same numbers we are and will price the risk of regression into their offers. Ultimately, it'll probably make more sense to keep him around given what I'd expect the offers to be. Keep him for the younger Latino players and possibly extend him in a year or 2 or if you're blown away with an offer, trade him and then attempt to re-sign him to DH when he is a free agent.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:37 AM) The Sox should be looking to cash in on Avi. Find someone who needs a bat this summer and turn him into 3 assets. They should also be cashing in on Jose Abreu given he's so much older than the new core. Agreed 100%. I would deal Abreu if blown away with an offer.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSide2004 @ May 22, 2017 -> 09:15 PM) The Rays are two games from a wild card spot. I can't tell if you're a closet Cubs fan or just super pessimistic. They may not be in 2 months though.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) Why? Avi isn't making any money. He, Eaton and Melkster woulda been the outfield. Weren't you the one arguing about a month back saying all they needed was a catcher, a DH and another OF? That would replace Avi.
