  1. I wonder if the Red Sox would be willing to deal Sandoval away along with at least B level prospects. Not necessarily to us but to someone.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) How about we have a poll, do you want Jose Abreu to start at 1b for the White Sox in 2018/19, or do you prefer he DH for the overall good of a young/developing team? I mean, we'd be better off spending this whole offseason preparing Avi Garcia to play there, in all likelihood. Don't even need to make an acquisition. I vote: Abreu DH without signing a 1B.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) What happened to Alexei's defense in 2010 when Vizquel was playing 3B next to him? You're telling me that whether you have Abreu or Brandon Belt over there, it makes no appreciable difference to the middle infielders? Come on...that was more Vizquel coaching Alexei. Elvis Andrus was a rough defender to start his career but really turned a corner when Vizquel was the backup infielder in Texas before he came over to the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Abreu semi-consistent at bats, or Delmonico/Hayes? I'm saying like once or twice a week (or every few weeks...whatever semi-consistent is).
  5. I don't mind rolling with Delmonico and/or Hayes at 1B with Abreu the primary DH while still getting semi-consistent at bats throughout the season.
  6. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) Todd will return a similar value to what the sox gave up when they got Youkilis from the red sox. I could see Swihart + Bell or Beeks. And I think I would gladly accept that deal.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 05:25 AM) Good time to pick up Michael Saunders for free and see if they can get him hot in June/July/August, then flip him. He'd have to play CF though, although perhaps they can find an early taker for Melky and clear a spot. Would have an obvious effect on Leury (could be traded), Engel and zwilly Garcia. Pretty shocking the Phillies even signed him, but he was really good most of last season offensively. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/06/phil...l-saunders.html Idk I think I'd rather play who we have already. And a Melky deal could mean Delmonico comes up.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) Well aren't you like a ray of f***ing sunshine around these parts. Haha I was just making that statement because its not like July 31st is next week. And even if many AL teams don't sell, plenty of NL teams will.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) ESPN Podcasts‏ @podcenter 1h1 hour ago “A lot of AL teams aren’t going to sell like we’d initially anticipated.” - @Buster_ESPN to @keithlaw Still close to a month and a half...more sellers can emerge.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) Burdi has not earned a call up. Keep him in AAA this year. Agreed. What's wrong with that?
  11. Imagine that scenario where a team actually pays up for him. A guy we would have given up on if we tried to go for it this year actually brings back something great. Would be a fantastic surprise.
  12. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Britton is out for the year. Unless there is a new update, no he is not. In fact, he's expected to come back by the All Star break.
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) I would absolutely start my ask with Robles and go from there. Robertson is not worth Robles on his own, but Kahnle adds a ton of value with how well he has pitched this season. Depends on if the Nats think he will keep it up over the remainder of his years of control.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:06 AM) In twitter, Sherman or Heyman noted that Andujar was promoted before they knew full extent of Torres injury so it may not be a long term promotion. I'm sure the plan was for it not to be long-term but the dude has been hitting at Double-A. I bet he stays at Triple-A rest of the year.
  15. I love the idea of playing every team every season. Gets boring seeing the Tigers, Indians, Twins and Royals all the time.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) I have an unhealthy dislike for Rizzo. As a person or ball player? Dude's been through a lot beating cancer and I know he does a lot off the field.
  17. Brad Hand, anyone in the Marlins pen who could be pitching good (idk off top of head).
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 11:03 PM) Neshek isn't a closer though It doesn't really seem to matter at this point. They need anyone. It all depends on when the front office feels like pulling the trigger(s).
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:09 PM) Yep. It'll be fascinating to see who ends up being correct - the do something now crowd, or the wait til the deadline crowd. Not sure anyone here is saying they will/should wait til July 31.
  20. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) Moving Machado to SS for the short term makes sense since they don't have the prospects to get someone like Cozart but that would put them firmly in the Todd Frazier sweepstakes with the Red Sox and Yankees. Only out 4-6 weeks so probably not.
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) I think the Sox are wise to pull in the Dodgers, get Verdugo along with Lux and Keibert Ruiz plus a lottery ticket arm and you are in business. I am not much of a fan of Frazier, not sure he is going to make enough contact to really warrant being a centerpiece of a deal. He seems to be a right handed Matt Joyce, which while nice, isn't extremely valuable. Mateo's 30% K rate in A ball makes him a non factor in a deal. Kaprelian's TJS takes him out of the equation. I am sure the Sox would take Torres despite the TJS, but without him the Yanks really have to bring a lot of depth because the top of their system is not nearly as strong as some make it out to be. I don't know if a team can really "pull in" another team. The Dodgers obviously know Q is available. The other team needs to want the player as well.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) I think that once Frazier is traded, Davidson will be the everyday 3B with Delmonico at DH/occasionally spelling Abreu at 1B. Yeah I believe so too. I was just referring to as of now with Abreu, Frazier, Davidson and Melky currently getting every day at bats.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) He's only a DH, though. His defense isn't playable in the Majors as of now. Yeah I'm not sure where they would play him with the current alignment because as of right now, Davidson also deserves every day at bats.
  24. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Yes - using empty retail outlets in Downers Grove to be tech incubators, shared workspaces or even just offices for new startups and small businesses. Erlich Bachman would be proud.
