  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Just used my MoviePass for first time. Even cooler, I have a loyalty card for theatre that they scanned so I’m getting points towards free stuff without spending more that $10 a month. I wouldn’t waste a swipe of my MoviePass on Geostorm. Ha I think AMC and Marcus both have loyalty card systems at their theaters. And that is exactly how I felt leaving Jigsaw last night lol I've seen the first 7 (only really liked the first 3) so I felt like I should see this one.
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 27, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) So see Geostorm, it's looks to be what Movie Pass was invented for I agree. I forgot to list that movie.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 27, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) I ordered at about 12:10 Pacific...didn't hear my alarm for 10 minutes...and I ended up with a delivery date 2-3 weeks out. Boo. #firstworldproblems
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) But....we've definitely seen deals exactly like that before. For example - the Blue Jays taking on Tulowitzki while giving up top talent. They also saved about $55 million trading Reyes in that deal.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) Have to agree there. Ozuna just posted a monster season and has two years of control left. Adding him or Yelich to the deal really changes the complexity. The question is, does Stanton's contract, and/or the Marlins' desire to get back multiple young players/prospects, necessitate the inclusion of one of Ozuna or Yelich? If the Marlins desire a prospect package, it does make sense to potentially consider that, but if you are getting back pieces like Bradley Jr and Boegarts, I am not sure what sense this makes. One would think they would be better off moving Stanton for some prospects and cash, and then moving Yelich and Ozuna for more prospects to further augment their farm system and realign their window. Yeah they can really cash in moving their whole OF. Also could mean more Ichiro at bats! Should also see Gordon, Chen, Volquez, Realmuto, Prado shopped as well this off-season.
  6. QUOTE (Special K @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) Todd Ritchie (1); La Roche (2); Teahen (3) The category was worst CF, not worst acquisition haha
  7. I've seen 3 movies with moviepass since I received it close to 3 weeks ago. It is very easy to use. I saw Happy Death Day the day it came out on the 13th (friend wanted to see it and I wanted to test it), the next day after that I saw IT again (wanted to test the 24 hour rule), and then for the hell of it, I saw Jigsaw last night which was bad (not that I expected much) but it was a very small audience. I figure I will get a lot of use out of it with Thor, Justice League, Star Wars, Murder on the Orient Express coming out and even fringe movies I wouldn't pay to see it but likely will like Bad Moms 2 and Daddy's Home 2 (first one I thought was funny of each). It also helps that it is going to be colder out. Me and my buddy are going to start going one weeknight a week.
  8. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) With all of the latino players that we have, Renteria isnt going anywhere. One big reason they got him ia not only just to help develope young players but it is easier to manage when you can speak the language fluently. Girardi or Dusty baker cannot. Another factor, Jerrys "loyalty" kicks that he always has. He Is NOT going to put Renteria out to dry like The Cubs did. Relax everyone Ricky is here to stay even if Joe Torre or Tony LaRussa wants to come back and manage And this is why I said more than half the MLB teams will have a Latino manager in the next 10 years, if not sooner.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) I don't see why the Marlins would be that upset with Don Mattingly and doesn't Jeter also have a relationship with Don? I see no reason why Girardi would go there. New owner coming in could just cause a shakeup on the coaching staff.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 11:36 AM) MLB Pipeline‏Verified account @MLBPipeline 55s56 seconds ago OF Charlie Tilson added to @MLBazFallLeague roster, Tito Polo removed. Tilson is No. 19 on #WhiteSox Top 30 list: http://atmlb.com/2mVv5oq Hang tight, Tito. They may need you tomorrow.
  11. Could see Girardi being a guy who takes a break for a year, spends time with family, does some tv work and then decides to see what's out there next off-season.
  12. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) Not sure Girardi is a guy you need to go out and get, but he just managed a rebuilding team in New York to within 1 game of the WS, and the Sox are a rebuilding team with a lot of talent. And he's probably better than Renteria at least. I wouldn't say "rebuilding" when describing the Yankees situation. They sold off two relievers (one was going to be a free agent) and Beltran in 16.
  13. I kinda feel like they find high value at that fact that Ricky speaks Spanish. I feel in the next 10 years you will see more than half the teams in the league with a Spanish-speaking manager, if not sooner.
  14. QUOTE (Latilleon @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) Joe Girardi Out as Yankees Manager Assuming he doesn’t take the Nationals opening, could the Sox drop Rick Renteria after next season for Joe Girardi? He wanted to manage the Cubs if I remember correctly. Does that mean he’d be willing to manage the Sox? Is he a manager we should want? Would he be better than Rick? You would have to be assuming no one adds Girardi in the off-season.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) I remember the first time it was posted. I just assumed he got injured again in the past month. Lol yeah. Guy would be in mid-season form.
  16. Most home runs in a single world series game...I believe it.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Fernando Tatis Jr. https://mobile.twitter.com/JesseSanchezMLB/...318081321025537 So if he ends up becoming a star, the Padres will have him for the 7 seasons of control (which is still a good amount of time). That makes me feel a little better about the situation lol not that I'm one of the people here still hanging on that deal.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) You know who else couldn't stay healthy and joined White Sox for their age 31 season? Jermaine Dye. Damn. Nice connection.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) Has anyone talked about Michael Brantley? While I know we'd like to have LF for our multiple hitters that have no positions, it could be an interesting candidate if the contract price is right. Now, if his range suddenly got better from all his injuries, we could even try to say he's a CFer! Yeah, there is no way the Indians pick up that option. He is definitely intriguing. Just not sure he can be counted on to stay healthy. But maybe someone needs to keep Tilson company on the dl?
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan2003 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) You're right. However, ST is big business for Phoenix and Florida cities and way too much money is being spent on these facilities these days. Yeah that's true too.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) If they put the Cubs and Sox in the same division, that extra buzz or whatever you want to call it, wears off after three years. It would be very disappointing if they blew up the leagues and put these teams from the same markets in same divisions. I'd hate it so much, but they're going to do whatever makes the last dollar, even if it's bad for them or some of their teams in the long run. I think it would be terrible for the White Sox in the long run. I seriously doubt that.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) Yeah, it seems ST was invented back when players didn't stay in shape all year, and so they needed time to actually get there. Nowadays they just need some reps for rhythm. Should be two weeks at most for position players. Yeah, just have everyone report 2 weeks later and have the games start second/third week of March. If players want to go earlier, then that is on them.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) They should cut Spring Training short for veterans and start the season in late March at the home park of warm weather or dome teams for the first two weeks of the season. They should just cut it short period. A whole month of goes seems too much and it seems the players think the same.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) Not sure where he would play here either. We already have a couple of DH's in the starting line up, with a couple of more potentially on the way in our top two draft picks last season. Don't play him. Cut him after getting him or cut him early if he sucks. The whole point of that idea is getting the prospects. He only has one more year left on the deal. It's a better idea than taking on Ellsbury's 3 remaining years.
  25. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Ew.. Why Because of this: QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 07:05 AM) He would be the perfect guy to trade for (along with a good prospect or two)..... The idea of taking on bad money along with prospects from teams so they can get under the luxury tax line. The prospect(s) makes the team trading for the bad contract worthwhile. It's been an idea kicked around here lately.
